How do you top getting engaged to your sweetheart? Making WWE history in the same week, duh!
Eve Torres became the new Divas Champion tonight at Night of Champions, despite not originally being placed in the scheduled Divas match.
Call it luck (hmm, we doubt it!), but Eve picked up the win after Kaitlyn conspicuously became injured with a sprained ankle backstage. More conspicuously, it was Eve who arrived on the scene first, tending to the #1 Contender for the Divas Title.
In the spirit of Night of Champions, where every title must be defended, SmackDown General Manager Booker T granted Eve a title match against Layla as “bonus” for her good sportsmanship and her work as his assistant in recent weeks. How convenient!
Eve quickly dispatched Layla, the reigning champion, ending her five month reign.
With her victory, Eve becomes the first woman to hold the Divas Championship on three occasions.

Not surprised but really happy & excited!!! Eve really deserves to have the title. Besides, Layla’s reign begun to be boring so I think it’s good for the diva’s division to have new possibilities.

Anyone else getting annoyed that Diva Dirt keeps crashing whenever a title change happens?-.-
Anyway the outcome for me was pretty obvious. I kind of expect Eve to return to a heel now claiming her plan worked and she set Layla and Kaitlyn up.

I’m not sure I like how she interfered. I would’ve perfered her coming out, pulling the Tanya Harding infront of the crowd and pinning hte newly won Kaitlyn oreven have her nix Kaitlyn backstage, get to Booker before authorities, notifying them of Kaitlyn’s injury, then winning the match. This kinda seems loopholed BUT I am happy there’s a storyline, all though awkward, that has the championship bouncing around three different personalities.

Since wwe have been so high on Eve this year I’m expecting Eve’s reign to not only last a long time but for her reign to also have the most interesting feuds and storylines. There’s a possibility that Eve’s title reign could last all the way to next Wrestlemania and that we could FINALLY see a diva’s title storyline and match at mania!

I wonder if this title reign is going to be any better than the 6 before it…..
at 7:33 pm
No surprise she won I believe everyone knew she was gonna take it
Wwe have been doing something with the women lately hopefully all goes up from here

I’ll start off by saying that I’m glad that there’s actually some sort of storyline going on with the divas and the title. Eve’s the most fleshed out character they have actually wrestling at the moment and her manipulative heel character works. Hopefully they don’t drop the ball with Kaitlyn’s attack and Eve can feud with Layla and her (at the same time or one at a time, whichever one). Question is whether they’ll go with the obvious reveal that Eve herself attacked Kaitlyn or if she had an accomplice do it.

This could be a great opportunity to bring Sara Del Rey in WWE. She could be that mystery attacker! Or some diva from NXT like Paige!

Oh yeah. I would prefer Sara and have her play the bodyguard to Eve for awhile before breaking away and feuding with her. She did say once she would like to work with Eve so that could work out nicely.

i have a great idea… eve comes on raw and talks about her victory. layla comes out and talks about her rematch, kaitlyn comes out and talks about how she was #1 contender and k2! comes out and says she never actually had a proper rematch for the title and layla and k2 argue and kaitlyn tries to say something and they both say shut up kaitlyn! lol and eve decides on SD layla vs k2 for #1 contender :-) and eve vs kaitlyn because she thinks it’ll be a easy win. that’ll be a great SD because SD usually is wack since theres not lay-cool but lay-cool got wack because michelle was unbeatable for w.e. reason they pushed her so damn much!

I knew that Eve was going to win the divas championship last night,I just knew it!I honestly thought she would’ve won it in a triple threat match last night, but I feel like the whole injury angle with Kaitlyn was a much better idea to get Eve to compete for the title instead. I’m very happy that she won last night because it was well-deserved in my opinion. I have a feeling that her 3rd reign will be MUCH BETTER than her first two reigns.
I kind of feel bad for Layla though because I feel that she didn’t really get to shine as divas champion much at all, which I blame WWE for.
at 7:46 pm
I honestly think this is a good idea. It’s a solid storyline that most female fans can relate to (being stabbed in the back by a faux friend) and it gives Kaitlyn a chance to get in front of the crowd and start working that mic! The story here is clearly Eve/Kaitlyn, which will give WWE a chance to establish Kaitlyn while capitalizing on Eve’s newfound limelight. If done right, Kaitlyn’s inevitably taking the title after chasing Eve will only make the belt, Eve and Kaitlyn look good!

The match was just great. I loved every second of it except for that goddamn awful crowd. I just hope they continue this storyline and give Eve a decent reign cause lord knows when was the last time we had one.

They followed Ziggler/Orton. They went in with a hot crowd and just couldn’t hold them up. That’s what happens when you have a babyface in Layla that never got a real build in character as a champion.

I want to know who the woman who attacked kaitlyn was. I hope it was AJ or a diva from nxt. Either way we know we’re getting good storylines and matches coming our way because we have WWE’s girl as the champ

It’ll be a copout if it was Eve that actually attacked her, that’s for sure- If they don’t want to go with a new person, I’d make Natalya the culprit, as they’ve had issues for a while now.

So does the bitching about Layla finally end?
Because the quality of matches the divas divison had been having with layla..which were pretty damn good are now going to flush right down the toilet with EVE as the header.
and lol @ people hoping EVEs reign is gonna be worth a damn…can anyone even name a worthwhile feud of her previous 2 reigns?…anything? history will repeat and by the end of the night we will be right where we were but with worse quality matches to endure.
I will say it again the title will only ever truly get the attention it deserves when AJ gets it…and we will have to wait till WM for that one.

Layla´s reign was wrecked from the beginning:her lackbuster return, using a music from a past diva,no gimmnick at all unless the jumping, dancing and foolish she did counts,no reaction from the crowd.
Eve at least has a character with some substance, has a story behind her…let´s see how her reign will be.
AJ has lost a lot of steam from being GM,which is sad.

@Bethinho Most of that isnt laylas fault she was given nothing to work on since her return they didnt give her a gimmick or anything good….
but eve gets hardly any reaction now anymore so its going to go down the same road she has before…..

Eve’s third title reign is already more promising than Layla’s because Eve already has two more than likely guranteed feuds ahead of her in both Layla & Kaitlyn and both of those feuds have more history and depth than Layla’s feuds. The problem with Layla’s reign isn’t that she wasn’t capable of pulling off a good reign because obviously she could have. But WWE, didn’t know what to do with her or cared to do anything with her. They only did work with Layla when it came to taking the title off of her and I’m glad they put it on Eve instead of Kaitlyn. It’s not Kait’s time yet and Eve has great character. I think this title reign will surpass her last two.

Eve gets a third random title match and wins it … lol
I hope Sara was the one to attack Kaytlin.

Her first wasn´t random, she won a battle royal, and this one wasn´t random aswell, they have been building this since last month!

I bet it was Matt Morgan who attacked Kaitlyn. Tbh cant say I’m impressed with WWE for replacing Kaitlyn, she really deserved her shot. But seeing as she won NXT she’s still entitled to a title shot :)

The winner of season three was never promised a title shot.

I loved the match!!!!!!! The crowd on the other hand was awful because they didn’t give a shit about the match… -.-
Is it just me or does the mobile site of Diva Dirt not work sometimes?

They’ve thrown good matches out the window ages ago. You get a few minutes of chain spots, sometimes, if you’re lucky. The psych is rare, the feud buildups are ridiculous, so happenstance that they’d be an insult to the phrase “tacked on.” In fact, most Divas title matches are in fact tacked on to the PPVs and barely thought about. If they had a more open mic policy and let people do their own thing, as TNA will try sometimes, this can be an advantage in letting people get over. As it is now, though, WWE doesn’t remotely invest enough of anything even mid-term, forget long-term, in Diva characters, feuds, payoffs, buildups etc.
The funny thing is… look at a Trish Stratus, a Layla, even a Laycool reunion would draw plenty of interest at this point . . . these investments can pay off if they have the common sense/drive/commitment to go for it. It’s almost like WWE is still scared of getting any Diva too over that isn’t a lifer (or as close as they can get). If the shoes fit . . .

YES! YES! YES!

Well this is the first time in a long time that we finally see a diva with a really worked character as divas champion. I’m exited because Eve is always doing backstage and her character is always getting better. Maybe we finally will see a well scripted feud for the divas belt?
at 9:08 pm
not surprised with eve’s wins, it was said that eve was originally supposed to win the battle royal. however i was a little disappointed that kaitlyn was taken out of the match cos i wanted to see layla vs kaitlyn. but i do hope kaitlyn stays part of this storyline, cos fans obviously like her and shes over (more than layla).
decent match not bad. congrats eve,!!! shes been on a roll ever since her heel turn, and i hope she brings out the best in these girls. i hope girls like tamina snuka kaitlyn and natalya get a shot @ the title! i hopw these girls finally get a feud going!
about layla i do like her shes improved tremendously. but the fact is that fans dont care about her or react to her.fans are completely dead during her entrance. i blame wwe for this aswell, they need to give these girls a proper build up. and im gonna be honest here, i may get heat for this but layla is nothing without michelle mccool. im sorry guys, but its how i feel. layla had a heck of a career being with michelle as laycool. she got all the spotlight in the world. michelle did have a pull backstage and layla was given preferential treatment along with her. it was indeed michelle that gave layla a boost its obvious as you can see it,

Oh what a wonderful moment it is. Eve as a heel champion should be pretty good considering she is better booked this time around than her first 2 reigns. This really is Eve’s year. She starts it off by getting the best storyline out of the divas, NBC personally went to WWE & asked for Eve to partake in Stars Earn Stripes, She gets engaged and then wins the divas title making history as the first 3 time champion. Great year so far. Amazing results to a really good match. But I’m not surprised as Eve & Layla have great chemistry and put on really good matches together.
at 9:12 pm
I knew she was going to do it but I never thought of it happening this way I thought she was just going to convice brooker to make it a three way or give her title right after layla or kaitlyn won so they would be to tired to defend their title.
at 9:31 pm
This is when the belt is effective. They are giving her the title at the right time. With the amount of screentime she gets, and the storylines she’s been in, this is her “build the diva megastar” moment.
at 9:37 pm
I really liked this match. There was good ring psychology with Eve focusing her attack on Layla’s ribs. Layla and Eve had a few good chain wrestling sequences and lock up exchanges. I enjoyed Eve faking sportsmanship to gain an advantage. The action on the outside was a nice touch. Eve using her ju-jitsu background was a welcome addition to her moveset, they really should start emphasizing that as part of her character,it gives her fighting legitimacy. Layla sold well, like the babyface should in that situation. Too bad the crowd sucked ass, that match was pretty good from Eve and Layla.
I thought Eve targeting Layla’s ribs was a nice addition to the match. However, I figured that logically it would lead to Eve finishing Layla with a move which cut off Layla’s air. I actiually thought Eve was going to use a ju-jitsu submission to win (like the neck scissor Eve used, or perhaps a choke of some sort).

Eve’s Year!! :) Eve & Layla Never Fail To Disappoint! Always Put On Great Matches!
