Diva Dirt reader, Gia, who was at last night’s SmackDown taping in Buffalo, New York, sent this detailed report from the show which featured a Diva dream match between Beth Phoenix and Natalya.

This sounds wonderful! FINALLY the best divas square off against each other and not only get great response, but also get time to do stuff! but at the same time I can’t help but think that there seems to be a prejudice against “model divas” turned wrestlers because even when they have good matches the fans still purposely disrespect them!

This has been a great day of news for the WWE Women’s Division – the match we have all been waiting for for 4+ years and the notification that Sara Del Rey is officially heading to WWE.
Although it is sad to think this points us to the likely conclusion that Beth Phoenix may in fact be retiring from the ring, she can hold her head up high on her way out as she has done herself proud and has given us some memorable moments in her stint in WWE, and has had the match she has waited for all these years. I hope she remains with the WWE, but if this is her time, good luck Beth and thank you.
OMG if WWE edits the match or puts it in commercial break so they can start the segment like 3 minutes ahead or something, I’ll be pissed. I want some fan footage!
I’m actually going to watch SD! lol, hope it’s a good as the hype, and I hope the hype doesn’t take away from it. IF Beth is leaving then it’s good she’s getting the match she wants and we the fans want. I hope she’s not leaving, but if she is then I would completely understand.
I posted a pretty ruthless comment the other day about how WWE rarely ever uses logic. This time however, I’ll give them the nod. Because this IS what we “Wrestling” fans want to see.. Two of the damn best to ever step into the ring in regards to Women. Also I’m appreciative of the effort that’s going into the Tag Team division also.. So I guess things are looking up after all. WrestlingINC mentioned that the Divas are going to be getting pushed, as reported by DD also. Things truly are looking up.. Especially now that Sara is on her way to the WWE. Regarding The Beth Runors, I’ll believe it when it comes straight out of her mouth.

Back in the day, WWE had it easy, because what we wanted and what the mainstream fans wanted matched up. Now it’s a little different. It’s hard to please every demo, and since we’re the smallest, IWC doesn’t generally get what they want.
Really? Calling her hot is bashing her? Saying 90% of the viewing audience wants to see her is bashing her?
I must have a skewed vision of bashing because I don’t see that as “bashing”. I see it as stating a fact. Kelly is beloved & is hot. Most male fans like her because she is hot. While I’m personally not a K2 fan, I’m not a detractor either. I think she works hard & fans love her so clearly she is doing something right. I didn’t think I talked about her that much TBH. Michelle I bash regularly, Gail Kim too.
My point was that its easy to understand why the IWC gets frustrated. We want something & the mainstreamers want something different. We want ass kickers, they want hotties. Back in the day it was easier, as the two hottest women were also the two best wrestlers (Trish/Lita) and we’re starting to get there with Eve, but the mainstream guys want sexy blonde while we want action. It’s not a shot, it’s just a statement.
I am extremely exited for this match, yet crying in saddness because (I’m in colorguard) I have a game that friday and I don’t get home until 11 :( I HAVE TO WATCH THIS!!!
