Well, Diva fans, this is the match we’ve all been waiting for is finally upon us! This week on Friday Night SmackDown, ‘The Glamazon’ Beth Phoenix locks horns with The First Lady of The Hart Dynasty, Natalya. Can the Fabulous Firebird lay waste to the Queen of Harts in her hometown of Buffalo, NY or will Natalya come out as the victor? Check out the match below:

We kick things off with Natalya and Beth already in the ring. Before the bell, we’re treating to a quick Tout from the Divas Champion, Eve Torres, who says that Kaitlyn’s attacker at Night of Champions (who she believes is Beth) will face serious repercussions for their actions. Back in the ring, the official signals for the bell and our Diva dream match is underway!

After a handshake, the two Divas start things off with a chain wrestling clinic that ends in a stalemate of sorts between the two. Beth slaps a headlock on Nattie and follows up with a takeover, but Nattie fights back to her feet and shoots Beth off of the ropes. Natalya goes for a crossbody, but Beth catches her in midair. Natalya manages to free herself and shoves The Glamazon away, which only seems to piss her off.

A frustrated Beth gets in Natalya’s face and is rewarded with a slap to the face from the third generation Diva. The Glamazon pauses for a moment to collect herself, before launching herself at Natalya, who is forced to flee to retreat to the ropes to escape the brutal attack. Natalya tries to get the jump on Beth, but Beth sees her coming and lays her out with a side Russian leg sweep, heading up to the high risk district.

Beth comes flying off of the top rope, but Nattie catches her and locks in the Sharpshooter, looking to finish her off. Beth uses her strength to get to the bottom rope, forcing Natalya to break the hold. Beth goes to roll up Nattie, but Nattie evades and goes for a wheelbarrow armdrag, which Beth converts into a Glam Slam to pick up the… TWO COUNT?!?! That’s right, Natalya manages to kick out at two, to the shock of the audience, as well as Beth.

Beth pick Natalya up off of the mat, but Natalya throws her face-first into the turnbuckle. Natalya tries to follow up, but runs right into a boot from The Glamazon. Beth takes advantage of the moment, and goes for a victory roll, which Natalya reverses for a nearfall, which is reversed by Beth to pick up the win!

Post-match Beth is overcome with emotion in the ring, but her moment is cut short when Eve’s music comes blasting over the speakers. Eve states that everyone must act rationally until the mystery of Kaitlyn’s attacker is solved, Beth will be suspended indefinately, due to the fact that Kaitlyn’s attacker was a blonde. OK, Eve. You’re just going to ignore the fact that there is another Blonde Diva in the ring? Seems legit…

Beth tries to point out the fact that Nattie is a Blonde too, which prompts her to flip the hell out on her, ending the segment.

Fortunately for Beth, once General Manager Booker caught wind of Eve’s decision he reversed it immediately:

Thoughts: While I won’t deny that this was one of the best Diva outings this year, I found myself wanting more. Maybe it’s because I know that Beth and Nattie are capable of so much more, and they’re being restricted by WWE’s standards of what women’s wrestling is. I think that if this match had happened on a PPV or even on Superstars, Beth and Nattie would have blown everyone out of the water. As for the “Who attacked Kaitlyn?” storyline, it’s already painfully clear that Eve is the culprit or at least the one who orchestrated Kaitlyn’s attack, but it is nice to see WWE giving a damn for once, when it comes to a Diva storyline. Hopefully, I’m wrong about Kaitlyn’s attacker and we’ll get a a curveball in this storyline down the road, but I doubt it…

AH-MAZING MATCH that’s what we wanted for the longest and we got it no dissapointment at all no complaints here

  3. They just weren’t given enough time. They packed a lot in the 3+ minutes they were given but had this match been a least 6 minutes, they would have really shown what the WWE Universe and those in the office are missing!

Grant it, this was a great night for the divas, but still…why can’t they get their damn entrances on the broadcast? Beth was so over in Buffalo and they didn’t bother showing that before the match started.

I’m kind of annoyed seeing how much this match is being overrated by some people. It was an OK match, but I’ve seen people act like it was the greatest divas match in years. Plenty of matches that have happened on Superstars/NXT/PPV are just as good and in many cases better. It just seems like people think the match is great because it’s Natalya vs Beth.

I’m looking forward to the storyline though and seeing how Eve is handled. She is still fighting with Layla, messing with Beth, trying to get rid of Teddy, and also Kaitlyn’s injury. She has a lot going on.

Beth might be turning face. Idk, it might be for just this match in her home town. But I mean, she was going for the turnbuckle clothesline, which she used in her last face run. And how she was backstabbed by Eve on RAW. But if she does indeed stay as a heel, this angle is going to add so much more depth into her character.

I think she turned face when Eve attacked her. She’s been playing the face since then on Backstage Fallout and in the ring.

Beth went for a missile dropkick but Nattie countered. Beth used the move quite a but prior to WWE.

this was by far one of the best diva matches we seen in a long time and if any divas can pull it off its beth phoenix and natalya, they are 2 of the best that wwe has right now, if only more diva matches was just like this one, it should have been a ppv match for the divas title, imagine if they had 15 mins to show more there talent, it will be amazing, win loss or draw both nattie and beth and the fans won this one. they showed what true women wrestling should be, so proud of nattie and beth and proud to be a natalya fan.

The match was good, it annoys me that people have to go on about it being ‘overrated’ and then bitch the next week about how we never have any decent matches. It was never going to be a twenty minute match full of 5 Glam Slams and 10 Sharpshooters and kickouts. It was just old-fashioned wrestling, slow at times, but actual moves and more importantly they told a story. I think people read matches like this and think of a SHIMMER main event, it was never going to be that, two completely different companies and sure the two Divas could pull off a match like that but why complain when they’ve done a good job in terms of what they can do?

    The K@rmic HeeL Reply:

I liked it a lot, just didn’t think it was comparable to Lita and Trish, both stellar matches they’ve had. I know Beth and Nattie can do a lot better when it comes to technique and science of a match, but the emotion wasn’t as strong, though it was decent. This, considering there is hardly character development. So I know there is more to see between the two. I love them both and it was such a good match, but like Steven said, now I want to see more. And I don’t think I’m being unfair. I’m just happy The Bellas, Maryse, and now Kelly are all gone. Oh what a year!! The rise of the divas division! Scratch divas, WOMEN’S Division! I can picture all the past wrestling divas circling the ring where Beth n Nattie are and chanting Rise! Rise! Rise! Ala Dark Knight!

  9. I’ll assume nobody is going to complain about Natalya losing this match?

I mean, Natalya losing again! :O

    fadhitman Reply:

in regards to your comment yes natalya lost , i wish she could have won, but remember they was in beth’s home town they was not letting beth loss there, also at least she lost to a worthy competitor like beth phoenix and not some one that cant wrestle like alica fox, kelly kelly or aksana , losses to them are shameful because there not true wrestling talent , there just there for the glamor, im sure if they had a rematch and it was in canada nattie will pick up the win next time around. thats just my option.

    marcum1234 Reply:

Sure Nattie lost, BUT she did kick out of the glam slam and bring beth phoenix to the point where she had to win by roll up. How many divas can say they did that.

    TheLadySamantha Reply:

NO other Diva can say they kicked out of the Glam Slam. Nattie was the first and likely the last.

  10. I’m so happy beth is face now! <3 Maybe since kelly kelly's gone she can be built up as a top face and hopefully she stays with wwe longer because i think they should make her divas champ and feud with eve and/or natalya! The match was good but im disappointed they edited out the entrances. it just seems like they dont want the world to know that fans in fact do love the divas and womens wrestling, i hope beth gets a big push whether shes going to leave wwe or shes going to sign a new contract <3 Great story progression for the divas! :D

    DivaFan4Life Reply:

Also i hope these two can wrestle on RAW and build the crowd behind them! These two have great chemistry in the ring!

  11. lucky1now

i loved the match and looked like the crowd was totally into it they should put these two in a fued i believe it can get over
an another note it wasnt as good as it can be the moves were great and all but both ladies have so much more to give i blame the wwe for this
now seeing that these two can pull this off shouldnt they be able to pull something like this with other divas as well?

  12. ilovelita

It’s nice to have a fresh match, wish it could have taken place at WrestleMania but I’ll take it.

And for the blonde who attacked Kaitlyn don’t blame Beth or Natalya pull the wool from over your eyes people it’s obvious that Lilian Garcia did it.

    Like Mike Reply:

    LOL @ Lillian.

    Liam ' Reply:

Who else could the attacker be? Aren’t Nattie and Beth the only blonde divas left? Or am I missing someone? Maybe it was Vickie in a wig. She has beef with Kaitlyn, it’ll be good for her to once again get involved in diva storylines. Be a good way to get the divas over too considering how much heat she gets ;)

    Bethinho Reply:

like you said Beth and Natalya cannnot be the only choices, someone using a whig is perfectly possible.
and it´s funny that Kaytlin, seeing the footage(that we haven´t seen it yet…) couldn´t tell by the build of her attacker who did it…..LOL.

    trishfan11 Reply:

I did think about the possibility and I wouldn’t mind it being her. I have wanted to see her as a heel and heel announcer for a long time to see how she can do it. May be, she can join forces with Eve since they are both Latinas.

Awesome match, best one i’ve seen in a long time on tv! just makes me think how sad it is that Beth is leaving soon. with Kelly out already and her leaving too, both are the two top divas of WWE, makes me wonder how the division is going to stand with both of them leaving. also, remember when divas matches were like this EVERY week?

  14. aldo

awesome match indeed. Beth phoenix and Natalya are the best in wwe right now. Imagine the match with the proper storyline and with the commentators REALLY INTO IT and not talking about layla eve and kaitlyn :D

    The K@rmic HeeL Reply:

I can dig it, my mouth salivates at that thought. I’m grateful for the awesome match, but absolutely want to see this, ur scenario! B-)

    marcum1234 Reply:

OMG YESS the commentators really make the matches seem unimportant when they downplay the divas expecially during the divas NXT.

Yeah, i mean, there are two amazing female wrestlers in the ring: The Glamazon and The Third Generation Diva, a they don’t give anything about it!! At least from Michael Cole, he was like reading a boring book.

I like how Eve’s character has become a compulsive lier! Also, it was kind of weird yet cool how Beth and Natalya wrestled more acrobatically like the smaller divas in this match because Beth being a victory roll and Natalya doing a wheelbarrow was an interesting surprise!

    K2Evefan Reply:

I seen natalya use moves like that against kharma in japan on youtube. It was an amazing match!

I thought the match was good, It’s a breath of fresh air. Good seeing them compete (finally). I just hope that Beth doesn’t retire just yet. The seeds have been planted for a bit of awkwardness between Natalya and herself. I just hope WWEanagement capitalize on it and take note. Love the chemistry yhey have. Sometimes wrestlers can be amazing in their own rights but when facing someone just as talented as themselves, there may not be any chemistry, but Nattie and Beth mesh very well. WE WANT MORE!

    Trish tweeted, after…

trishstratuscom Proud of my girls @NatbyNature & @TheBethPhoenix – thanks for showing us how to #fightlikeagirl #FitFinlaywouldapprove

A very good match, I thought, much better than we’ve seen on WWE TV in a very long time. It’s the kind of match we used to see on Raw & Heat almost every week during the Golden Era, and I hope we see more on that level. To have a great Division, you need great matches on a regular basis.

And, more storyline progression! This is the first real STORYLINE we’ve had for the Division since Kharma debuted. We have our Divas Champion Eve plotting, and framing Beth. Layla has suspected Eve from the start, and wants her title back. Kaitlyn just wants to know who attacked her. Alicia, meanwhile, is being suspiciously very shady. Was the attacker Natalya? Summer? Emma? A returning Diva? Someone we haven’t seen in WWE, yet?

    Looking Glass Reply:

First actual storyline since Kharma’s debut? And what was Kharma’s storyline?….That was just a mess upon reflection, not a storyline.

    perceval Reply:

There was a storyline going, complete with a planned plot twist regarding who Kharma’s actual target was (Kelly was going to be misdirection, the little blonde doll from the promos was going to turn out to be how Kharma saw Beth).

The crowds were into it, and you can’t blame Creative for Kharma’s pregnancy bringing it to a halt. Where you CAN blame Creative is not developing a strong back-up plan like they used to (Jazz is going to be on the shelf for months? OK, we’ll do Trish vs Molly and bring Victoria up to the main roster…).

    Looking Glass Reply:

I didn’t blame anyone for it, it just had no storyline because other than ‘what could have beens’ there was nothing to it other than an introduction to the character and this whole ‘it was how she saw Beth’, I can’t have got that memo, it just seems like you’re making your own storyline and conclusions. I don’t know how you think people would have reacted if Kharma went on L.O.A. and the week after the introduced Raquel Diaz to fill the same spot.

  19. hado

I mean while the match was really good, I kept thinking to myself, I have seen better matches. I mean Alicia Fox/Natalya, AJ/Naomi, Alicia/Gail, Eve/Beth and recently Alicia & Paige have been better then this match. I do think it been dubbed as a really good match from everyone because it is a match between two workers who have indie experience, been friends for such a long time and we and Beth and Natalya themselves wanted to have a match together, and then especially considering the fact it’s Beth’s hometown of course the crowd is going to be into the match.

    hado Reply:

And another match to add to that list is Eve/Layla from Superstars this week, that match was really good.

    flash1086 Reply:

Those matches that you mention are decent but not better than THIS match. Maybe AJ/Naomi would compare but the other matches had somebody carrying the other. Even Nattie and Beth would tell you that it was their best match so far. And the last time I check, Gail said that her best match was with Beth NOT Alicia.

    hado Reply:

I never said Gail said her best match was with Alicia, I said I found it better. To be honest, Beth/Nattie was a good match, but has not been the best match since Trish/Lita like people are dubbing it, and nor as it been the best match in these divas generation. Sure maybe if it was longer, who knows.

I say forget about the Eve and Layla match at the next PPV and let Beth have the title, if she is for sure going to leave the WWE. After Beth leaves the WWE with the Divas title have a Divas battle-royal for the next Divas champion like they did when Chyna left. Winner should be a new face, like Kaitlyn or have Natalya win it and feud with Eve. Wishful thinking…

    TheGamergirl22 Reply:

Can’t help but think about CM Punk Money in the Bank promo, like Beth leaving with the title.

look like on Sunday Oct 28 were saying goodbye to the divas title and also Eve (as Booker’s T assistant) and goodbye to Beth Phoenix

and hope she pulls a Punk and comes back

Also want to see her team up with Paul Heyman if she’s staying(won’t happen but I can dream), heard his fav divas is Beth Phoenix according to his twitter.

Yeah that would be great, and a good way to trash the Divas title and bring back the Women’s Championship belt.

4 minutes ain’t enough for a dream match like this!! and tbh it shouldn’t be compared to Trish vs Lita at Unforgiven ’06. I believe Trish/Lita match was way better, because it had awesome build up, great time and lots of great spots.

I want another match between these two, but with build up and way more time!!

  22. flash1086

Best match in the last 2 or 3 years.

  23. MNM4ever

the match was certainly a good one especially considering the amazing techinical exchange between the two, however it certainly didn’t have enough high impact moves (due to time constraints probably) to be considered a ‘great’ match. People certainly exxaggerated by calling it the best since trish vs lita. For example, as a melina fan, i would consider melina vs beth (one night stand) far better as well as melina vs michelle (NOC) and melina vs mickie (backlash). In fact there are many other melina matches that i would consider better than this. In saying that, this match is certainly one of the best non-ppv matches in a VERY LONG TIME

    Kessuki Reply:

you beat me to it,you may be a bias melina fan however i’m not and yet i will give credit to melina for having some quality matches during her time in wwe and her match at the Bash was her easily her best showing against michelle.

    MNM4ever Reply:

i most definitely am a biased melina fan :) lol but yehah the match at the bash 09 was really really good!

  24. Kessuki

It’s not overrated nor is it the best match since Trish vs Lita, i honestly do think melina vs michelle at The Bash was slightly better as it had more time and buildup.

The promise of Beth vs Natalya was a mouthwatering dream match for us all and it carried a lot of hype. it most certainly didn’t dissapoint me in any way as it left me wanting more. I would regard it as one of a select few great matches i have seen since post Trish vs Lita Unforgiven-06 and it would have been that much more amazing had i seen it live and not on the tv.

    .

    DaudWWE Reply:

Yeah i agree.. i have seen some similar matches like this between Melina & Michelle or Melina & Gail

But i agree.. this match was veeery good.. i liked it and i’m happy we also got to see these two face each other!

    MNM4ever Reply:

yes the melina/gail matches on superstars were very entertaining!!! especially melina and tyson kidd vs daniel bryan and gail kim :D

  25. K2Evefan

That was a really good match and im glad wwe let us see it finally…. now i just hope we get a superstars edition because chances of us getting a ppv for the two of them at this point is slim if the rumors of her leaving are true. Even if it doesnt have any story progression on superstars we would get a lot more time so these two can put on an even better show…. maybe even some top rope suplexes!
