WWE Superstars Redux (September 28th, 2012): Eve and Layla Deliver in a Non-Title Rematch
Hola everyone, and welcome to this week’s Superstars Redux. This week, we’ve got a rematch from Night of Champions, albeit this time not for the Divas Championship, as Eve squares off against Layla. Can Layla prove Eve’s title win was a fluke victory? Or will Eve cement her status as Divas Champ? Find out by scrolling down!
After the entrances of Eve and Layla, (which are actually refreshing since Matt Striker and Josh Mathews have something interesting to talk about going on in the division as opposed to the random three facts about each Diva we normally hear), the bell sounds and the two Divas lock up. Eve with a nice flip over as they exchange wrist locks, and Eve scores with a sunset flip attempt that Layla counters into a dropkick. Eve laughs it off and offers a hand shake, but Layla refuses the offer and executes her bridge roll up pin. Eve counters into a roll up of her own, but Layla gets her shoulders up as the two continue the wrist locks.
Eve tosses Layla to the outside, and goes for a spear, but Layla hits some sharp kicks for a two count. From there, she goes for her springboard corner crossbody, only Eve kicks her off the ropes for a two count. Eve now takes the advantage, continuing her assault over the former champion with a choke hold in the corner. She kicks Layla to the canvas, before reverting into a really nice leg submission that I may have never seen set up in the way miss Torres executed it. Eve breaks it off and Layla now starts to fire up in the corner, but Eve kicks her down and heads up! She leaps off with a moonsault… but Layla just barely rolls out of the way and scores with a kick to the skull for the win!
Thoughts: I really liked this match, much like I did at Night of Champions. Eve and Layla work pretty hard together and they seem to put in various spots to stand out from the typical match we normally see in these Superstars bouts. I’m sure Layla will be the one facing Eve at the next pay per view, especially due to her rematch clause and now victory over the Divas champ. Not sure I would have went for this match being on Superstars as opposed to Raw, but if it would have been on Raw you can pretty much guarantee it wouldn’t have been given the same time it got here so I’m not as bothered about it. Hopefully Eve moves on to Kaitlyn once Layla’s rematch is out of the way so that we can get closer to this mystery Diva attacker storyline playing out to the finish!

Match was great, both divas were on-spot.
But Bobby tbh your obsession with Kaitlyn is annoying. There was no need to say “hopefully Eve moves on to Kailtyn once Layla’s rematch is out of the way” while you’re writing a redux for superstars. I mean it’s not even like it was on Raw or anything, then it wouldn’t have annoyed me but I feel like this is Superstars which really doesn’t have storyline progression so it was just random and uncalled for to say that.
All the divas matches have been great lately, but when Eve moves on to Kaitlyn that will go right out the window tbh as Kaitlyn isn’t capable of putting on quality matches like Layla just yet. Just saying.

I don’t see anything wrong with hoping the storyline continues with Eve finally facing Kaitlyn. That’s not really obsessive, that’s hoping we see continuity. I hope Eve moves on to Kaitlyn too because I want Kaitlyn to get her shot, & the storyline to progress & Kaitlyn maybe win the title in a storyline with build.

No he’s always bringing up Kaitlyn and it’s annoying. This match had nothing to do with Kailtyn and she shouldn’t have been brought up. Like I said, maybe if it were on Raw it would have been fine but it was on Superstars where storylines don’t matter, so Kaitlyn was irrelevant to this match.

The match itself may not have had anything to do with Kaitlyn, however the commentators were heavily putting over a storyline that has Kaitlyn in an integral role, and a storyline that features both Layla and Eve in varying degrees. I don’t think mentioning her in this instance is obsessive, when the best thing possible for these girls is an actual storyline, and to do that Kaitlyn will have to be brought in to move it along, as currently she’s the only one who’s seen the footage. Also, since it seems the WWE is trying to make her into a top babyface (would make sense, now that they’ve lost Kelly and Alicia seems to be having an identity crisis) She’ll more than likely end up as the next challenger after Layla’s gotten her rematch clause out of the way.
So in this case, I don’t think mentioning Kaitlyn once when it comes to storyline is a bad thing, especially since both girls are involved in said storyline, and it was the one thing the commentators would talk about besides the obvious match related things.

I enjoyed this match. These two work pretty well together. I’ve heard that these two are rumored to be facing at Hell in a Cell but with so many weeks left between now and then, I could see those plans changing.

Layla is very impressive in the ring, I love her new moveset with the range of kicks.

I honestly enhoyed this match more than Beth vs Natalya. Great job by both divas. I love the new holds Eve is starting to use. I t really makes her offense stand out.

Finally a divas match that isn’t awful is any sort of way. This is probably one of the better diva matches of 2012.

They had an outstanding match. They just clicked and it was great to see some aggression out of Layla, and not just generic babyfacisms. I also think that commentary helped their match as well, with the commentators ACTUALLY discussing the Diva’s Division and the quasi-rivalry between the two of them. Loves it!

I liked it even more than their PPV match, which was so slow and pretty sloppy at times. But here the action was really fast and just flawless. But I still wouldn’t say this was better than Beth v. Nattie, because there was a really great story and storytelling also in that match.

If Superstar is from a different city each week…why does the crowd always sound the same?? XD I think was a good match,better than the match in NOC.Layla is improving. Please in Hiac Eve VS Layla VS Beth!! if the wwe reminds women can also do triple threat match and fatal four way!!!!! And thanks for existing…..Dailymotion!!

I can’t believe I’m just seeing this match today! Eve and Layla did really nice here. I think Eve is beginning to better adjust wrestling as a heel! Did anyone notice Layla isn’t wearing the brace anymore! I kind of liked it because wrestlers wearing braces(Tara for example) makes them look tougher and more legit to me for some reason!

This match was given a pretty decent amount of time, and both ladies did well!Eve and Layla have really great chemistry in the ring, and I’d love to see more from the two. I love how the commentators talked about the current storyline. Way to go for them and WWE for PUSHING an ACTUAL storyline.Kaitlyn may not have been involved in the match, but both Eve and Layla do play a role in this storyline with the Kaitlyn “mystery attacker.”
And I’m gonna say this once,and I don’t care how anyone takes this:I find it disrespectful how some people on this site are disrespectful towards the Diva Dirt team and writers. Everyday,they provide us with the BEST recaps,news,etc. that relates to womens wrestling. For people to be getting mad about their opinions is very disrespectful. Show some respect to them. If Bobby wants to talk about Kaitlyn, let him! Him talking about Kaitlyn in this Superstars redux made sense.Why?Because BOTH Layla and Eve are a part of this storyline with Kaitlyn. So seriously, get off of his back!Learn to have respect for the Diva Dirt team because without them, this site wouldn’t even exist.

Also, O can’t beliEVE that the diva’s champion is basically feuding with 3 people(Kaitlyn, Layla, and Beth) simultaneously now! I think the hell in a cell could be a fatal 4 way which I would love because I think the divas should have more triple threat and fatal 4 way matches!

I Heard That The WWE Was Pushing The Divas Division.
If So, Then Keep It Up! Eve As The Divas Champion Is Awesome, Because She Is Feuding w/ Like The Whole Divas Division. We Got Layla, Who Is Out To Get Her Divas Title Back, Kaitlyn Who Is Wanting Revenge For Whoever Attacked Her & Her Title Shot, Beth Who Is Being Accused Of Being The Attacker & Natalya Claiming She Had Nothing To Do w/ It. what an amazing match. It was so intense!!! And Eve was playing her character to perfection! Her heel move-set has become amazing! Especially the way she used her leg for that awesome submission move and then used it to “roll over Layla” …Well I don’t even know what words to use to descrive what Eve did but it looked sooo painful!
It was an amazing match from the two!

Maybe it takes long to load for you or you need to update your drivers.
Update your Flash and if you dont have it download and install the VLC player.
It contents almost the most available video formats so after its installed you should be able to watch any video from youtube or dailymotion cause through its installation the codecs will be installed in your system. :)

As I already said in the smackdown thread, this match was PPV worthy for the divas. :)
Loved every bit of it, it was hard hitting, story progression for the characters, technical ability and tons of action.
200+ % better than their ppv match for sure.
Hope we will get similar matches from now on in the main shows aswell cause such matches additional to the story progression would definately help the divas division and bring some very needed prestige to the title aswell.

In my opinion the, and this is not a bias statement because the proof is in front if us, Eve is having so far the best championship run of the divas since Mccool second run. She gets matches & promos, & an actual storyline that’s just isn’t I want the title. She is feuding with like 3 different divas it’s just so incredible to see Eve get a proper championship run. This match was so amazing. Defiantly the best showing these two have had so far, but to be honest Eve & Layla have always put on decent to great matches. I for one enjoyed this match over Beth vs Natalya because this match has history. Beth & Natalya seemed like a throwaway match with no purpose. It also could be that from the spoilers, they hyped the match up to be better than what it was idk. I’m just excited about the future of the divas division for once & happy with what’s going on

I still believe Kelly kelly had a much better title run because not only she was used but the crowd actually reacted to her. Now, we have a storyline but no crowd reaction to support it. Which is THE main ingredient to have a good division.

Is it just me that hopes Layla stays in the title picture? She always has great matches and I’m hoping if she was ever to win back the title her next storyline could be with Kaitlyn

Excellent match. Lot’s of back and forth action. I like how Eve and Layla use their legs to gain advantages I their match’s, it shows right here in this match.

Nice little match, Layla excels when propped with a storyline that has backbone to it. I really would like to see Layla and Kaitlyn team together as detectives before facing off to become the next number one contender. My instinct says Eve will write Beth Phoenix off TV in a retirement match first.
