WWE taped 13 matches tonight (2 for Superstars, 2 for Main Event, 2 for Saturday Morning Slam, and 7 for Smackdown) and still managed to have only one Diva match. That’s either sad or kind of impressive.
Umm well Layla kept getting her hair pulled out by alicia which was funny. Alicia dominated mostly and then layla picked up with a kick to the head. after the match matt striker asked layla questions on eve taking her title. Eveyrone cheered for alicia when she was leaving from the ramp.
when alicia came out noone knew wheteher to cheer or boo lol.
and kelly’s promos were more like videos saying goodbye and milestones in her carrear.
Again with the “Alicia has an identity crisis” talk. Crazy AJ = Good. Tweener Alicia = Very Bad. It seems people with melanin must be placed in a particular category or the world is off-balance. Their hair must also be a “pleasant to the people” hue or the denizens go mad. Mad, I tell you!
I wanna see Alicia Fox do more. She can be a bit sloppy sometimes (I attribute it to her having a fast paced moveset and a lanky body), but she is in no way a bad wrestler. Her matches always entertain when given good time. And as for the Kelly Kelly promos, wouldn’t it be pretty amazing if the Kelly Kelly release was a work to hide that she’s going to be Kaitlyn’s attacker? Remember when Daniel Bryan was legit released and then brought back as a surprise member of Team WWE? WWE always planned to bring him back. They could definitely do the same with her. If she came back with a bitchy and aggressive new attitude, it could be a career defining moment. That and have her use less speed oriented moves (since she doesn’t pull it off well), and she could be a BIG deal. The Divas division is picking up steam. This could be a great chance to start rebranding some of them. Make Alicia a heel because she’s at her best as a heel, make Kelly a heel because she needs the change, make Naomi a face wrestler, make Aksana a manager similar to how Terri was from the Attitude Era, make Natalya and Layla the top faces (minus the comedy attempts),and set up Aj and Kaitlyn to be this generation’s Trish and Lita. And for God’s sake, PLEASE GET RID OF THE DISNEY CHANNEL ENTRANCE THEMES. I wanna take these girls seriously. Trish, Lita, Jazz, Natalya, Beth, Victoria, Melina and hell even Candice Michelle, Torrie Wilson, and Michelle McCool’s themes made me take them seriously. Insatiable, Spin The Bottle, etc. do NOT make me take them seriously.

Lordsofpain.net, pwmania, ringsidexcess.com and wrestlezone.com are all reporting that the match happened. Someone up above in the comments said they were there and the match happened. Whoever did the reporting to the other sites dropped the ball (pwinsider didn’t put in Barrett’s match either for Smackdown)

Agreed on the Disney-style themes. The right theme helps, a lot. I noticed that when watching some old matches, and I got that whole nostalgia feeling when “Be Yourself” played, then remembered it was just Ashley. Her entrance theme was THAT good. :)
The classic entrance themes, aside from being badass songs, reflected the character of the Diva they were used for. “Insatiable” has nothing to do with Layla’s character.
Most of the current themes are so generic. The laugh at the beginning of “Time To Rock And Roll” that was Trish’s cue was perfect, her entrance taunting you even before she came out and said or did anything. The spiral on the screen that accompanied the opening chords of “Need A Little Time” got the audience anticipating Torrie’s entrance. The flashing close-up of Lita’s eyes at the beginning of “LoveFuryPassionEnergy,” the Titantron with the eye in Victoria’s palm with “All The Things She Said,” the Matrix-esque graphics with Gail’s Titantron & “International Woman”… Even Christy bouncing out to “Walk Idiot Walk.” All emphasised them as individual characters.
Whenever you hear any of those, you automatically think of THAT Superstar, rather than “Oh, it’s one of the Divas. Which one is it, again?”
Or, as Trish put it a while back regarding the difference, “Now, it’s ‘Superstars’ and ‘Divas.’ We were Superstars.”
There’s still been a few good ones. “Holla,” while the same musical style as most of the current ones, has that all important cue at the beginning. Little known fact: That was originally composed to be Candice’s theme, set to debut about the same time as Torrie began using “A Girl Like That”, Trip “King of Kings,” etc, but they wound up doing a techno mix of her old theme, instead (which worked better with her entrance). So, they had this unused theme sitting around that had been on one of the CDs. They finally gave it to Extreme Expose. But, the fact that Kelly’s theme actually dates back to the latter stages of the Golden Era may explain why it worked so well (and helped get Kelly over).
“Glamazon” and “Bad Karma” are great themes, and have that Old School quality of reflecting the character of that particular Diva.
Tamina, Eve and Natalya have ones that fit them I think. Layla’s has to go. ‘Insatiable’ worked for Tiffany but it’s not for Layla. That one and Alicia’s are the ones I have the biggest problem with. Kaitlyn could use a different one too.
