After nearly two months of intense voting, we have our ultimate mean girl!
WWE executive and occasional television personality, Stephanie McMahon, has fought off competition from 15 other female wrestling individuals or groups to take the crown as Wrestling’s Best Mean Girl, as voted for by you, the Diva Dirt fans.
The Billion Dollar Princess may not have been an active wrestler, but she left an indelible mark in WWE during the Attitude Era with her bitchy antics ranging from in-fighting with her family (Vince, Shane and Linda McMahon), engaging in a memorable feud with Trish Stratus, and sparring wars with the likes of The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Chris Jericho.
Stephanie pipped fellow WWE mean girl, Melina, to take the crown with 53% of the final vote to Melina’s 47%. (Full tournament brackets here.)
In the 16-woman tournament, Stephanie previously edged out the Bella Twins in the opening round, Dawn Marie in the quarter finals, and LayCool in a close semi-finals.
While these days she may be better known as a wife, mother, businesswoman and an ambassador for WWE’s anti-bullying campaign, Stephanie can still be mean when she needs to — just ask Paul Heyman, who was on the receiving end of one her infamous slaps when she returned to television for a rare appearance at Raw 1000.

I voted for Stephanie and am happy that she won. Wish we could get “mean” Stephanie to return to WWE television on a regular basis – as a GM or CEO or something, anything. To me, when she confronted Paul Heyman, she acted as a heel more than a face.

Hahahaha so many memorable Steph moments, Slapping her mother in the middle of the ring, forcing Tori to wrestle in her bra & panties, having Lita attacked by Tori so she could beat her in a 5 second match, her torment of Trish Stratus & slopping her in the middle of the ring, wishing her father was dead, trying to run WWE into the ground, faking a pregnancy to HHH, her cruel treatment to Lucy the dog & ultimately delivering the Billion Dollar Slap to anyone who dared cross her… In my opinion there is no other who could have topped this poll!

2000 Steph was the *perfect* heel. I remember my pre-teen self *yelling* at the TV when, after three months of being Women’s Champion but never defending the belt, Lita got screwed after winning a #1 Contender’s Battle Royal when Stephanie pinned her after Tori, as the referee, attacked her! And then on the next episode of RAW, Linda McMahon announced a rematch and if any member of the faction interfered, Steph would be stripped of the title … but that time, Kurt Angle interfered! She was the only heel that I actively remember making me UPSET, and that’s a good thing.

Stephanie McMahon is the true, deserving winner. My favorite Diva is Lita as we know and I think the best “Diva” in WWE overall was obviously Trish as far as “Divas” are defined…but as far as Meanest? Gotta be Stephanie and Melina trailing close behind her.

I love Trish but this was Stephanie’s contest to win, with Laycool trailing behind.
However, I feel that the constant Trish bashing is a little much. There is no concrete proof that a poll was “rigged” by WWE to help Trish, outside of a Lita fansite posting some photoshopped screencaps, which were widely refuted by other sites. There is no need to put Trish down in every poll. Personally, I feel Melina being in the finals over TPB was ridiculous, but you don’t see me bashing Melina to make everyone else look good. The fact that you need to constantly accuse Trish & WWE of poll spamming is really sad.

I’m not bashing Trish Stratus. She is by far, the greatest Diva as far as how WWE defines it. She was a decent wrestler, she looked hotter than any diva and kept improving and evolving, she was always a great spokesperson and got along well with everyone. Obviously she was a management favorite. I personally don’t feel Trish deserved to win this particular win because she simply wasn’t the meanest, though she was a good heel for sure.
The BP vs Melina…hmmm well I don’t know?? To me the BP were good together as mean girls, but Melina was much more natural and was memorable all on her own. She didn’t need to team with other divas to be mean, she was already a force on her own. Even a crazed Victoria (NYR 07) was careful not to piss off Melina who was the queen of mean of the WWE.
Stephanie McMahon ofcourse is the absolute meanest! She had the womens title just because she could…she cheated Lita out of many victories, she was mean to her mother, father, Trish Stratus, Sable, and many others. Ill never forget her “Bitch” Speech at Corpus Christi on RAW when she told the guys she had more balls than them all…and made more money than all of them combined!! How mean is that?? Slapping around the camera man, cue guy and Lillian….she is undoubtedly the Meanest woman the WWE has ever seen. Hopefully she returns one day, so that this generations of superstars and divas can endure her wrath and we can be there to enjoy it. :-)

I wouldn’t knock Trish if her fans didn’t bitch and moan every time she lost something. As far as WWE rigging polls in her favor, it’s been proven as true. When they had that Raw anniversary show back in 07/08, they made the mistake of showing how many votes each diva got. She came in third, but was named the winner. To make it even more of a joke they said Candice (flavor of the month) finished in third, even though she only got like 5% of the vote. They also changed the results of the “best match” poll because a Benoit match won the voting.
Trish is popular. Probably the most marketable diva ever. But if you want to know why so many people think she’s overrated, it’s because of WWE’s insistence on putting her over in everything. She’s as overexposed as Cena. Only she’s worse because at least Cena is on the roster. No diva will ever reach Trish’s level so long as WWE keeps acting like she’s the only woman that matters. Just because you’re a fan of hers doesn’t mean you can’t admit that.

Trish got HUGE pops. Her victory at wrestlemania 19 was by far the biggest crowd reaction for a diva history. Nobody truly knows who’s the more popular of the 2. Lita was a babyface in the attitude era when crowd was huge. That would be like saying that The Godfather was more popular than Cena. Anyways, the fact is that Lita and Trish are 2 of the most popular diva in history. Of cares about the more popular. Its like debating about who was more popular between Rock and Austin.

If I had to choose to believe between some dumbass on the internet or wwe, I would take wwe anyday of the week. Trish won MULTIPLE awards. Not just this one. Made more magazine covers than ANY diva in history and main-evented raw MULTIPLE times. Always got crowd on their feet in every arena she went and was super-over with the fans. Say what you want but Trish DESERVED that award and if you dont like it. Thats too bad for you.

That’s the problem with you fanboys. It’s never enough to just say Trish is popular. You got to act like she can walk on water, too. What award did she ever win that was fan voted? Diva of the Decade, Babe of the Year, all the magazine covers.. that was all WWE’s decision. Same thing with her title record. Notice that they “retired” the women’s belt before anybody could surpass 7 reigns. Trish is the “greatest” because WWE wants her to be the greatest, period.

i’d like to share though.. in a classroom setting, for example, the top students are not voted by the students, it is based on the merits and scholastic achievements of the students which the teacher would know.. soooo, if that’s the case, i’d rather that a poll was tailored for a particular person if it’s about being the best, not being the most popular.. hahahahaha.. Those screencaps where Lita was CLEARLY winning were created by a Lita fansite and were later refuted by other sites, claiming they were heavily photoshopped. Not to mention that same site was encouraging fans to vote 1000′s of times, even though WWE only counts votes once.
The problem is that Lita’s rabid stans can’t just accept that Trish was “the” Diva. They have to claim fans didn’t love her as much, Lita was their queen, Lita poops golden eggs, etc

Melon – You’re ridiculous. The fact of the matter is this, Trish wasn’t evoking the reactions Lita was from the crowds so yes, Lita as far as the fan responses went, was the more popular of the two. And as I’ve accepted it before, Trish Stratus was the better overall diva, popular or not. I never really considered Lita a diva anyway so I don’t even see them as competitors in that category. You call Lita fans rabid, but if anything it seems like you’re the one who jumps at the chance to start the 2374943728922000 Lita/Trish debate all over again. Can’t believe I’m agreeing with Kharmic, but he’s right. Trish’s strenghts are her looks and her speaking skills/charm. That’s why she’s about the only diva to really establish a real career outside of WWE. But in terms of being able to pump up a wrestling crowd, she never was that great at it, be it entrance pop or in-ring stuff. To me she seems a lot more at home posing for magazines or being interviewed on TV.

Yes Trish is possibly the greatest heel female “wrestler” this poll saw, closely followed by Melina.
And in retrospective Maryse/Laycool was the classic “Mean Girl Movie” stereotypes for WWE, The Beautiful People being TNA’s.
But we are all gonna have our favourites and biased opinions, some may not even be happy because they thought it should have been one of the above listed for the above reasons.
BUT… Stephanie won, fair & square via votes from the Diva-Dirt users, so stop the bickering and respect that. :)
YES Stephanie is my favourite of all time, she is the one who got me into wrestling the night she turned on her father. (So yes I’m biased) but I would have understood if TBP or Laycool won too.

Happy that these two were in the finals and that the poll was also a close fight for the title cause both deserved it the most when it comes to the mean girl.
In my opinion, Stephanie was more heel than mean girl compared to Melina but still a deserving champion.
The only thing I don’t like on Stephanie in real life is that she agrees with the management dinosaurs backstage that the divas should be more valets then wrestlers (Triple H too) so even Vince is a hit or miss when it comes to the divas, I really hope he lives for many years to come cause if he is gone, Triple H and Stephanie will probably drop the whole division or turn them all to valets only.

i agree with the others that said Stephanie was more of a spoiled brat (with a lethal tantrum) than a mean girl.. Melina was an uber bitch who just hated everyone..
I’d agree that TBP and Laycool were mean girls.. but there has to be a Queen Bee within the unit and that’s for whom the nominations were supposed to be in the first round, not the clique or the stable as it takes away one archetype of mean girls.. being the HBIC..
Trish didn’t hate everyone because she LOVED herself that much as a heel and saw other people as stepping stones towards her goal of reaching the top.. hence she would switch from nice to mean to get what she wants.. :)
Stephanie and Melina really took their heel dimensions without any room for other divas which really doesn’t make them “mean girls”..

Personally its Sherri Martel :). But Stephanie is one of only a handfull, which includes Francine, Babydoll, Luna, and WCW Jacqueline, that can be mentioned in the sentence as Sherri, so I’m buying it :). Stephanie was a goddess heel in the attitude era. Speaking of Steph, can we get more workout pics of her lifting weights from BEHIND :D?
