On this day in history:
October 14th, 2007 | When the time came to crown the first ever Knockouts Champion, TNA booked a Gauntlet match for Bound for Glory. The match included Angelina Love, Awesome Kong, Christy Hemme, Gail Kim, Jacqueline, ODB, Roxxi, Shelly Martinez, Traci Brooks and Velvet Sky. Knockouts were eliminated by being tossed over the ropes until two remained: Gail and Roxxi. In the end, Gail scored the pin, earning the right to be named the first Knockouts Champion.

Jackie definitely deserved a KO title reign. Such a shame she never got one.

Agreed. The most decorated woman in history in nationally televised promotions should have had a KO title reign on the list.

Yeah, because title reigns in a scripted sport prove superiority. I guess Edge must be a bigger star than Stone Cold and The Rock, since he won more titles than either of them. It’s still real to you damn it.

You totally missed Xadpfan’s point. It would’ve helped put the title over a lot and give Jackie some well-deserved recognition.

I got nothing against Jackie, but I don’t think she ever had much of a fanbase. She was never popular in WWE and didn’t seem that popular in TNA, either. So giving her the belt would have meant nothing.
Great worker, though, no doubt about it.

Gail should have never left TNA. She never had the charisma to make it big in WWE, but she was a good centerpiece for the more athletic KO style. Ever since she went back it just hasn’t been the same.

Looking back I feel that Traci Brooks should have been the first ever Knockout champion not Gail Kim. Traci was there longer and was very loyal to TNA. Even though she’s not longer there she still supports them.

Gail was the big name, aside from Jackie.
Besides, there was a formula to establishing a successful Women’s Division: Put the belt on a girl from Toronto that was trained by Fit Finlay and mentored by Molly Holly. Works every time. :)
