“Your Two Cents” is our interactive feature where we gauge the opinions of our Twitter and Facebook followers on different discussions in women’s wrestling.
This week, we’re asking this: Yesterday in history, Chyna became the first (and so far only) woman to hold the Intercontinental Title. We want to know: do you think a Diva or Knockout these days could hold any of the men’s titles? If so, which one(s) and who? We’ve read your responses on our social media pages and picked some of the best submissions to highlight here on the website. As always, you can join the debate by leaving your comments!

Adam Testa | In the big two, it will never happen. But it has happened in the indies and will continue to do so. |
 |
Brandon Magwood | Awesome Kong could easily become IC Champion. If she was given the ball she could be a great IC champion. Give her a good manager and it will work itself out. |
 |
Jesus A. Santiago Feliciano | I have to say Sara Del Rey and for the WWE Championship. She is basically one of the most dominant women wrestler of today…and also can you imagine sara vs cm punk it would be EPIC!!! |
 |
Josie Michelle Pearson | I just can’t see any of the girls today winning anything like that. Chyna was wrestling men long before she ever won any title! And to think, wrestling has changed and is not the same as it was back in the late ’90s! |
 |
Josue Guzman | In today’s era of wrestling, I don’t see the possibility of either company allowing their females to hold titles that belong to their male counterparts. Times have changed since Chyna’s day, inter-gender matches are extremely rare today and WWE has even changed their rules regarding mixed tag matches. The women must fight women and the men must fight men or a DQ will be issued unlike before where it didn’t matter who fought who.
TNA hasn’t recently pushed any of their women to wrestle men since Awesome Kong and the slight return of Chyna to revise her feud with Jeff Jarret so I don’t see it happening over there either. |
 |
@matthewhollie | The 1st woman to hold a major title in a promotion was Alissa Flash in 2010. I think Natalya will capture men’s gold soon. |
 |
Mikey Voodoo | Beth Phoenix of course, but Mickie James definitely has the talent, the ability, the experience (past TNA and present) and as well as the charisma to hold a top mens championship in TNA, maybe not a World Championship but def a smaller championship like the X Division Champion. |
 |
Ozzy Valentine | It wouldn’t be far fetched to see someone such as Beth, Natalya, or Kharma to win the Intercontinental Championship. Whereas the WWE Championship is clearly for the big guys, the IC title has more flexibility with its contenders. I can see Beth or Nattie winning the Championship in a variation match such as a battle royale or some sort of Gauntlet match. Kharma could believeably win it from many men. She went toe to toe with Dolph who is a very impressive wrestler. Kharma as the Champion would be pretty awesome. |
And now we turn it over to you…
What are your two cents on the debate? Could a woman in WWE or TNA today win a men’s title? Tell us in the comments…

I think that if Kharma had stayed in WWE, she would eventually be a serious contendor for the IC or US titles. If Del Rey actually competes on TV, I could maybe see her doing the same. Beth and Nattie certainly could have been tag champs if WWE weren’t so damn stupid.
As for TNA, I don’t know. I certainly would like to see Tara or Mickie compete for something, and I think they could carry a men’s title if given a chance. ODB as well.

Rosa Mendes for World Heavyweight Champion.
Obviously.

I am having the worst night possible but this post made me smile so hard lmao!!!!!!

Natalya is hands down one of the best technical wrestlers in WWE, so go figure.
Kharma and Beth Phoenix could have been convincing US or IC champions.

DoD should have dominated the womens division, then gone for the tag titles, and then should have lost them due to eve and Kelly interfering, that way those 2 wouldnt of looked stupid when they lost them in the future.
I’d love It if in the future a IC champ called out anyone and out came Natalya

wouldn’t mind seeing Gail Kim as the TV Champion :)

I know it’s rather out there but I would have quite fancied The Beautiful People ‘cleansing’ some of the male roster too!

I agree, mickie could be an x division champ & beth and nattie should have been tag champs .

i’d say there simply isn’t any need for a woman to win a man’s title, especially in WWE today. remember that back in Chyna’s day, the Women’s Championship was held by Sable who was not a wrestler. the division was a joke and only about bra and panties matches, pudding matches etc. Chyna was taken seriously while the rest of the women weren’t whereas these days the division is competitive. the title actually means a lot more than it did back then. intergender matches are really fun but i don’t see the need to have a woman win a man’s title if there’s a proper women’s division around

Since the divas kinda take a back seat most of the time, I’d like to see it as a form of rebellion and taking the respect they deserve as athletes (kinda the way the built it w/ Chyna, but better). If WWE still had a Cruiserweight Division, I’d say Natalya could easily win that belt. Though Beth could probably out-wrestle a number of former I.C. and U.S. champs, they’d NEVER put either belt on her since she’s been compared to Chyna since day one, and they’d have no choice but to acknowledge Chyna’s legacy just like when they put Beth in the Royal Rumble (and last I checked, WWE still has beef w/ Chyna). IF Kharma came back, they may ease her into the men’s division since her look would make it look a bit more convincing than Beth. But in order for it to even be a possibility to have a diva win a man’s belt, the PG Era has to go since intergender matches “promote male on female violence.” If Sara Del Rey actually wrestles, I’d say she definitely has the skill to win a men’s title. Could you imagine Sara Del Rey vs Daniel Bryan? The battle of the “No Locks” lol.

Not a bad thought, as Sara patterned herself after Bryan Danielson while they were in the indies. If they let her be an on-TV character instead of just a trainer, I envision WWE bringing her in as Daniel Bryan’s sister/cousin/whatever and having her maul AJ.

Funny how bent out of shape people get when men win women’s championships but I guess it’s fine for a women to have a man’s championship.

That’s only because the current female based championships are very girly which doesn’t fit to a male unless they are gay or have a gay gimmick (or a slightly crazed one like Eric as example that was tag champion with ODB).
I can’t imagine a Mark Henry running around with a pink butterfly and be taken seriously as example.

Obviously the most powerful and technical female wrestlers:
ODB, Kharma, Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Tamina and Tara. Sara Del Rey and Mercedez MartÃnez as well.

Of the current WWE Diva roster, no, especially since they got rid of the two men’s titles a woman could most realistically win, the Cruiserweight title (held by Jacqueline in 2004) and the Hardcore title (held by Trish Stratus, Molly Holly, Terri Runnels and Bobcat).
In TNA, I’m kind of surprised that they never put Awesome Kong in with the guys while she was there.

In modern day TNA, I’d have to say that Tara and O.D.B. could probably win the X-Division or TV title since they’re not only the strongest Knockouts, but both are amazing wrestlers who have wrestled men in the past, and both are strong enough to lift Kong (that HAS to mean something).

I agree with Ozzy. Also I wouldn’t have minded Beth and Nattie going for the tag titles.
Then again, Lita and Trish, the big two of the WWE were hardly a challenge to guys like Christian and Jericho. I’d hate to see all guys treat the girls so rudely. They were only allowed a few near falls and it was outsmarting the guys, not matching them in skills at all.
Years back, I mightve read in WWE Magazine on the Informer(remember that guy?)suggested Lita and Chyna as a tag team! Would have loved it! That would have been so awesome! )I mean Lita packed some force with her planchas/cross bodies and Chyna was overpowering a lot of the lightweights.
Beth and Kharma would be a formidable team too.

Hmmmm… Though it would be cool to have a woman hold a men’s title, I just can’t stomach the idea of men “hitting” women, even if it’s women like Kharma, Beth, or Natalya.

I don’t know. It’ s the flavor of the day as far as entertainment goes. There will be a gay champ, a kid champ, an animal winning titles against men, so I don’t talk about it too much. It look like beating on dudes is the in thing right now(been in the works for a few decades now) and what the best tool to use: pro wrestling!. Beating on women and children will be next to get the public spotlight. Yes I did! Yes I did go conspiracy! lol

WWE
Beth Phoenix-US Champ
Natalya-IC Champ
Tamina-US Champ
Anya-US Champ
Paige-US Champ
TNA
Any Knockout could win the TV, Tag, or X Championship

I would had loved for the cruiserweight championship to come back and have males and females to compete over it cause it’s a championship any of the females on the current roster could look believable on winning and holding it (WWE with NXT included and TNA).
Other than that I can’t see any female in the WWE holding any of the other titles at the moment.
Most of all since the women are under moveset restrictions in the WWE and except of Beth, Nattie, Kaitlyn, Tamina and partially Aksana, no other female in the wwe would be strong enough (powerwise) to compete against a male.
Except if it would be like AJ vs Sin Cara or Rey Mysterio which would make a very interesting match up for sure. :)
Well any of the smaller and less heavier guys.

I can’t see any woman in wwe or tna holding a males title..the women aren’t allowed to wrestle men so how could they convincingly have a match??..
if they did i think beth would be great against the men, shes got the size, skill & toughness needed….

Oh & tamina, shes the biggest girl on the roster….

I’m gonna be super sexist & say women should not be competing against men. Chyna was the exception because when she came in, there were no women’s matches & could not convincingly compete against the women without looking like a bully.
Random rumble appearances aside, I don’t want to see women emasculating the division any more than I wanted Harvey Whippleman to be Women’s champ. Unless you’re gonna campaign for D-Bryan to fight for the Butterfly, it’s hypocritical.

I still hold out hope that we’ll see another Diva or Knockout hold a men’s title.
What I liked about Chyna winning the IC title was that she proved she could wrestle with the guys.
Plus I really hate seeing these Diva/Knockouts act so defenseless without a man.
I would like to see Natayla go after the IC/US title but in some ways it depends on WWE and if’ll they’ll let a Diva hold a men’s title and the right storyline and if they’ll let it happen.
I can see why ACW can get away with letting their women hold men’s titles because they let both their male and female wrestlers work together and present great matches and storylines.Something that WWE & TNA should take note.
at
I could see Gail or Mickie winning the X-Division title and I could see Tara or ODB winning the TV title. I could also see ODB winning the tag team titles too with a male superstar. As for WWE, it will probably never happen again. The days of Chyna winning the IC title and Jacqueline, Madusa and Daffney winning the Cruiserweight title are long gone. But if they were to give a woman a title either Beth or Kharma would be great IC or US champions. Kharma could even possibly win the WWE/WHC because she is such a world reknowned wrestler

The thing I hate is people complaining when men gets involved in female title storylines, so I don’t necessarily see why it’s fair to go the other way round? I think if the woman looks legitimately able to beat a guy, it could be good, but half the time they’re done in fluke storylines that end up switching back by the next show. I prefer the sexes to keep to their own titles, just because holding a male title for five minutes doesn’t necessarily make it better than a woman that’s held a women’s title for a long period of time.
