On this day in history:
October 23rd, 2006 | After Trish Stratus won the Women’s Championship in her retirement match at 2006′s Unforgiven, the belt was vacated and a tournament took place to crown the new champion. In one of the semifinal matches, Melina and Mickie James faced off, packing the intensity of a PPV match into a 4-minute timeslot on Raw. Both were determined to get a shot at the title, but it was Mickie who moved on, pinning Melina after hitting the Mickie-DT.

Love Melina..
Never a huge Mickie fan, but her wrestling skills are amazing. Melinas skill is also phenomenal. So whenever these two put on a match, it was always a brilliant match.
Would love for Melina to come to TNA so these two could continue their feud.. or be added to a current one. Imagine Tara and Melina vs Tessmacher and Mickie.
Amazing.

agreed! this match was brilliant.. their rivalry and matches were just always so intense, fiery and aggressive yet still highlighted their amazing wrestling abilities and technical skills. I really hope melina does end up in TNA because the thought of her feuding with mickie james really excites me and she would have so many other fresh opportunities. i really want to see melina and tara beocme a tag team again as well just like they were in raw at the start of 2007 :D

These two along with Victoria, Ivory, Sable and Luna Vachon are my favourite women’s wrestlers of all time. Yes I said Sable.. Women could P-Bomb like a bad ass/Arse ;)

For all the talk of these two not getting along in real life at the time, Melina and Mickie were very compatible in the ring. They seemed to operate with the same goal in mind. It’s a pity their feud was somewhat underdeveloped and cut short when Candice Michelle began her hunt for the Women’s Championship.
