Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s edition of the SmackDown Redux! Now that some light has been shed on the “Who attacked Kaitlyn?” mystery on Monday night’s Raw, top contenders Kaitlyn and Layla have a meeting backstage with Booker T and Teddy Long about the attack. Not to be outdone, Divas Champion Eve Torres also takes part, along with Aksana. We even get an announcement for a Divas match at the Hell in a Cell PPV, as well as a tag team match for later in the night. Check out the segment below:
Now on to the match!:
We kick things off with Layla and Kaitlyn already in the ring. Eve and Aksana come out next, as the faces mock them from the ring. After some bickering, the official signals for the bell and the match is underway, with Aksana and Layla starting for their respective teams.
The Divas start off with a lockup and Aksana managed to get the best of Layla, muscling her to the ropes. The referee makes her break the hold, but Aksana surprises Layla with a knee to the gut. Aksana whips the former Divas champ off of the ropes, but Layla counters with her signature cradle pin, followed by a jackknife pin for two quick nearfalls. Before Aksana can regain her composure, Layla drags her to the corner and tags in Kaitlyn. Before jumping out of the ring, Layla hits a springboard crossbody, followed by a stiff shoulder block from Kaitlyn. While Aksana is reeling, Kaitlyn rolls her up for another nearfall.
Kaitlyn drills Aksana with a backbreaker, before attacking Eve, who was taunting her from the ring apron. Aksana takes advantage of the distraction and hits a flying clothesline, taking Kaitlyn off of her feet. Aksana gives Kaitlyn a few kicks while she’s down, and tags in Eve, who lands a snapmere/kick combo for a one count. Eve drags Kaitlyn to her feet and chokes her over the middle rope, before going for a running senton. Unfortunately for Eve, Kaitlyn gets her knees up, sending Eve to the mat.
Kaitlyn struggles to get to her corner, but Eve quickly stops her progress. Eve tries to take control of the match once again, but Kaitlyn rolls her up for another nearfall. Before Eve can go back on the offensive, Kaitlyn goes on a tear, laying out Eve and Aksana with elbows and clotheslines. Kaitlyn attempts to hold Eve in place for Layla’s roundhouse kick, but Eve evades and Layla nails Kaitlyn instead.
While Layla is in shock over taking out her partner, Eve pushes her out of the ring and pins Kaitlyn to pick up the win for her team. Post-match, there’s some tension between Layla and Kaitlyn over the ending of the match.
Thoughts: Let’s start with the segment; I thought it was really well done. I can’t remember the last time WWE put this much effort into a storyline, just for the Divas.
As for the match, I thought it was a very good setup for the triple threat match at Hell in a Cell. All the women did pretty well, and there weren’t very many botches. The ending of the match really drives home the every-woman-for-herself feel of the match and the fact the Divas can’t really trust anyone, including their tag team partners. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Eve walk out of Hell in a Cell still Divas Champion, after the Layla/Kaitlyn partnership explodes.

For some reason I oddly enjoyed this match probably because I wasn’t expect so much story-telling which made the match more “entertaining” then the usually schtick, but I do wish wwe would stop constantly giving everyone jobber entrances because it makes the talent look cheap!

I’m pretty sure Eve will walk out of HitC as the champ. There’s really no chance of Layla getting the belt back, but Kaitlyn might have a slim shot. Still, Eve is being built up pretty consistently, so I doubt WWE will have her drop the belt so soon. I really want her to drop the fake nice girl thing and slam it into turbo bitch soon, though.

If she turns into turbo bitch I hope it isn’t generic

I like the Turbo Bitch term, but I think it applies more to Layla, if she were heel and maybe someone like Vickie Guererro.
I enjoyed Smackdown, it was good and especially the Diva stuff. Layla has turned into something more than LayCool and although she’s not fully developed as a character; she has a lot of personality and spark in her matches. She truly was the star of LayCool and its showing now that she’s on her own. She’s so feisty. I hope she gets another reign, she’s worked so hard. As far as Kaitlyn, I like her more and more. Hope she breaks out soon.

Not sure where Eve could possibly go if she does beat Layla and Kaitlyn. Who would she face after? Alicia? Natalya? The divas division really needs some new talent but we all know WWE doesn’t care.

While I’m obviously enjoying the storyline, like any other Diva fan, I’d much rather there be a reason for Aksana to have attacked Kailtyn. Who attacks someone to injure them just because they got a text message? It would have been a nice additional bonus if Aksana said she got a text from Eve saying that if she attacked Kaitlyn, once Eve became the Divas Champion, as Booker’s Assistant, she would make sure Aksana got the first Divas title shot. At least give some incentive for the girl to go around attacking people, eh?

This would have made more sense, plus why does Kaitlyn not seem equally angry with the woman who gave her the actual injury like she is with Eve, who planned it? I’m hoping this is down to the fact that Aksana was only asked to attack Kaitlyn, but didn’t, like someone else said. I liked the match, the ending was nicely done although the struggle to get Layla out the ring seemed awkward.
I really wanted to like Aksana in this match and I thought with this being her first match in ages, they might have made her look better than she was but it was all a bit lacklustre, even her entrance she didn’t seem to stand out. It’s annoying, because I’m ONLY just adjusting to her new look/gimmick, but then I guess she isn’t the focus of the match when she’s not involved in the HIAC plans. I’d have loved it to have been Tamina though or Alicia, someone that would’ve had more of a spark, but Aksana needs something to do just as much as anyone.

I Think Kaitlyn Will Somehow Win At HIAC & The Real Attacker Will Come Out & Eve Aksana & Mystery Will Be Standing Tall. Then Kaitlyn Has A Promo On RAW, They Attack Her. Next Week Kaitlyn Beats Aksana, All 3 Of Them Attack Afterwards. Next RAW Kaitlyn vs Layla For The Divas Championship Kaitlyn Wins & They Go To Attack Kaitlyn Layla Defends Her. The RAW Before Survivor Series Aksana & Mystery w/ Eve vs Layla & Tamina or Alicia w/ Kaitlyn On Commentary. Layla & Company Wins Eve & Company Goes To Attack But Kaitlyn Defends Them Setting Up Eve, Mystery, Aksana, Natalya, & Cameron vs Kaitlyn, Layla, Alicia, Tamina & Naomi In A Survivor Series Divas Tag. Eve & Mystery Are The Only Survivors. Eve vs Kaitlyn At TLC Tables Match For The Divas Championship. Eve Wins. Eve & AJ Starts To Feud. At RR AJ Wins A Divas Royal Rumble. Eve vs AJ At EC Eve Retains. At WM 29 AJ Wins The Divas Title In Her Hometown.

I think Eve should have a long reign, because WWE is doing awesome on her title reign.
The only person that I think that should take the title away from Eve is AJ.
Overall, I see the attacker being revealed on Raw this upcoming Monday during a Halloween Battle Royal…it could work!! It could be Aksana, Eve, Layla & Kaitlyn left…Aksana gets eliminated…then Layla. It’s down to Eve & Kaitlyn…& the Mystery attacker appears from under the ring covered all in a black outfit & helps Eve win. Revealing the attacker!

Loved Kaitlyn and Layla’s shuffling like disgruntled penguins at the start of the match in a desperate bid to get to Eve.

Layla is facing Aksana on NXT next week so if she wins the Divas title it’ll be a little awkward explaining why she doesn’t have the title with her.

The NXT tapings took place a while ago and nxt is a extra brand in which the storylines from the main roster doesn’t play any role. :)

Aksana makes me laugh. She has that knack that Maryse did for using her culture as a strong aspect of her character. Like when asked about the e-mail and answering, ” No. … It was a text message.” -Nods.” xD!! It was perfect. It could’ve come off as dumb blonde but it came of as naivity. Well played.
Kaitlyn really channeled a bit of Trish and Beth here!! REally stood out. I like her whole “Hybrid” Diva, take no prisoners attitude.
Layla is better at accenting others. She kind of reminds me of Dawn Marie in that aspect. Highlighting everyone’s strengths. I think it’s way it’s harder for her to stand out individually.
Eve’s really in her character right now and it works. She might want to find small things to add so it doesn’t become stale but girl’s taken her horse and is RIDING!!
Over all, I’m happy I ‘spose. Lol.

Love the continuity of the storyline and the fact that Aksana still didn’t confirmed that she really attacked Kaitlyn but rather that she got a text message from Eve asking her to do it.
I think that’s also why nobody was really mad at her in the first place. :)
The booking was great in this match cause it gave some build up for the triple threat which I really hope it will be good.
Also hope that the mystery attacker reveals itself either at the triple threat helping Eve retain or at monday in Raw.
The match was good and the interview of Kaitlyn in the fallout showed that even she understands that it wasn’t Laylas intention to kick her, she is still cautious and not too trusty when it comes to the hell in a cell match. :)

I enjoyed the segment and the match. Aksana merely confirmed that Eve asked her to take out Kaitlyn but I didn’t hear her say she did, so they could still bring someone else to be the real attacker. As for the match, I thought Kaitlyn came off really nice and aggressive and there’s a good setup for Layla and Kaitlyn turning on each other come Sunday and allow Eve to walk away with the belt.

Anyone else get Sheneneh vibes from Booker T?
I like the match it seems like Kaitlyn and Eve’s mishap has actually helped the division.

I really hope Kaitlyn wins @ HIAC. Nothing against Eve, as she is the Diva MVP right now, but the thing about being the Diva MVP is you don’t need to be the champ to be the Diva MVP. Eve Torres has become the WWE’s go to Diva and they don’t want to repeat the mistake of always plopping the title on Eve when the division is in a slump like they did with Trish and end up screwing themselves over when she leaves the company.
Also, I find that for the most part the Divas title reigns have been very lengthy as of late, and perhaps a quick, effective title change would work. You could also add in the swerve that Layla framed Eve and attacked Kaitlyn because she didn’t want to lose her title and set off crazy Layla, while Eve chases the belt and Kaitlyn is the rookie challenger trying to hold her own against these crazy bitches. This could also be a good seguay into AJ/Kaitlyn and then AJ/Eve, only have AJ going into Wrestlemania as champion.

Something tells me WWE’s gonna piss me off by turning Layla heel and making her the person who hacked Eve’s iPad to frame her. There would be no logical point in turning Layla heel if Eve is supposed to be top heel; unless they plan on making Eve a babyface again, otherwise it’d be a waste of a heel turn. As for the match at HIAC, hopefully Eve retains since I don’t see WWE giving Layla another title run anytime soon (if ever again), and I don’t see Kaitlyn winning the belt before AJ. That, and I think if Kaitlyn won the belt, it would kinda kill the storyline in a way. For the sake of this storyline, Eve should retain and eventually drop the title to AJ after she’s done feuding with Vickie since I think that’s mainly why they took her out of the role of G.M.
