In addition to helping them secure a victory, a wrestler’s finishing move can also serve as an extension of their personality and in-ring style. From Lita‘s moonsault to the Sable Bomb to the Glam Slam to the Widow’s Peak, there were and are many finishing moves as memorable as they are devastating. Which move, then, is the best of them all?
Based on your nominations, we picked the 16 most popular moves to advance to our knock-out bracket tournament. Keep your eyes peeled over the next several weeks as you will be asked to vote between some of women’s wrestling’s best loved finishing moves and help us whittle it down from just 16 to one! (View the brackets below.)
Round 1: One’s an attack and the other’s a submission, but both can lead to permanent damage. Gail Kim‘s Eat Defeat and Natalya‘s Sharpshooter are direct threats to your teeth and legs.
It’s a tough choice, but the vote is entirely down to you!

Sharpshooter, it actually looks like it hurts. Gail involves sticking your boot on someone’s chin and pulling them down, which doesn’t look like it actually does a lot and relies on theatrics…

Sharpshooter. Classic move and Natalya’s done some sick variations of it (the double and the one where she literally bent Melina in half).

sharpshooter !!!!!!!!

I have to go with the Sharpshooter, just because I have a soft spot for Natalya and submission wrestling!!! But I love you Gail!!!

Holy crap, these rounds are real toughies! I seriously can’t decide here. Eat Defeat is really cool looking and funky, but Sharpshooter is a classic and submission finishers are becoming rare. But I still have to vote to keep my right bitch in the semi-finals :)

Sorry Gail, but the Sharpshooter is simply iconic.
at
Sharpshooter. Didn’t Gail want a better finisher than the Eat Defeat at one point?
at
Have to go with Eat Defeat due to the sheer difficulty of the move, botch it and the Gail can knock herself out or break the person’s jaw.

I love Gail, but I’ve never really liked Eat Defeat as a finisher. The Sharpshooter is such an iconic move, and I feel like Nattie has found several ways to really make it her own. Plus, there are so few submission finishers in mainstream women’s wrestling.

Sharpshooter. It actually hurts!! Me and my cousin always do it to eachother lol
at
Eat Defeat! It is so unique and it would hurt like hell! My cousin had something similar done to him and he broke his jaw so i’m going with Eat Defeat

I love everything about submission wrestling but im going to go with Eat Da Feet on this one. I have liked the move from the first time Gail performed it.

SHARPSHOOTER!

I love Nattie but Eat Defeat is more dangerous and difficult to pull and it also hurts much more.
It also looks more effective and has no theatrics involved like the Sharpshooter does.
The sharpshooter is just theatrics and one of the easiest finishers to pull off.
The only one time that it looked really hurtful was when AJ sold it as a devastating move through her flexibility.

How is the Sharpshooter theatrical? Eat Defeat is simply placing your foot on someone’s chin and falling backwards, it doesn’t do a lot as the opponent falls to the other side and isn’t pulled down towards the boot at all. I don’t really see how it hurts…

Really? Did you look closely?
Your own weight pulls the opponent downwards in eat defeat and if not done correctly or not released in time you can break their jaw in no time.
In sharpshooter if you look closely she holds them far up the legs most of the time so no pain will take place and the others just selling the pain that isn’t there in the first place.
In AJs case, they applied the move further which definately hurt a bit but also not much cause of her very flexible body.
The only other diva that could had sold it in such a position would be melina, no one else.
With other words everyone could apply a sharpshooter easy and without hurting the other unless they really want it.
That’s something not everyone can do when it comes to eat defeat cause without the proper training you can break the other persons jaw or even the neck killing them.

I’d rather see Gail’s “Flying Dragon” submission in place of “Eat Defeat” since it looks much better, and would have a much better chance of making it pass the first round. With that said, I have to give this round to Nattie’s “Sharpshooter” since submission finishers are very rare in women’s wrestling. If it were “Flying Dragon” vs “Sharpshooter,” then “Flying Dragon” would win without question.

Eat defeat

anything against gail for me (:

This should have been christo vs sharpshooter.

m surprised that Gail’s flying dragon didn’t make it into the competition… it definitely would have made it to semi’s but i have 2 go with Gail Kim’s eat defeat not jus because i’m a gail fan it because the move is very innovative and really painful.. believe me.. as for sharpshooter yes its an iconic move bt seriously its famous because of hitman not nattie… if nattie had her own original finisher that would have been nic… bt she’s jus using her uncle’s move to get sum attention.. cuz every1 noe as soon as sum1 applys the sharpshooter the crowd usually goes wild..
at
Both of the finishers look painfull but Natalya’s Sharpshooter on Melina was amazing
at
Never a fan of Eat Defeat, at all, Sharpshooter!
at
It wouls of made alot of sense if it was Gails Cristo vs Natalyas Sharpshooter submission vs submission
at
Gosh, it’s hard choices. i love Gail Kim, but i love Sharpshooter too! :|
at
Sharpshooter! One of the best known finishing moves and Natalyas variations are sick!
at
Love them both, but Eat Defeat is better.
Nattie is going to win, because she is Nattie though. (love her still)

That’s what I mainly dislike in such polls or competitions.
People won’t go by the move or it’s effectiviness but rather with which person they like more or with what is more “iconic” as if the hitman in the competition instead of nattie.
I like Nattie more and it should be also known through my previous postings towards her but fair is fair and eat defeat is the better and more effective as also unique and dangerous move.
