In addition to helping them secure a victory, a wrestler’s finishing move can also serve as an extension of their personality and in-ring style. From Lita‘s moonsault to the Sable Bomb to the Glam Slam to the Widow’s Peak, there were and are many finishing moves as memorable as they are devastating. Which move, then, is the best of them all?
Based on your nominations, we picked the 16 most popular moves to advance to our knock-out bracket tournament. Keep your eyes peeled over the next several weeks as you will be asked to vote between some of women’s wrestling’s best loved finishing moves and help us whittle it down from just 16 to one! Considering The Faith-Breaker is used by AJ Styles before Michelle even did this and its seen on a regular basic, not even that impactful imo, and also from the fact that Roxxi innovated the VooDoo Drop as well as it looking much more devastating, its safe to say which one I’m picking.

I like the Faith Breaker, but the Voo Doo drop is one of the most creative moves I ever saw!
at
Barbie Crusher, definitely. It’s one of the more unique moves in wrestling, period.

Voodoo drop

i always loved the barbie crusher faithbreaker never really caught on to me
lmao at layla screaming yes after michelle got the pin

I always like Michelle using the boot to the face I never really got into the Faith Breaker but the Voodoo Drop looks sick! If I was a wrestler that’s what I’d use as a finisher!!!

This is not fairrrr! I love the Faith Breaker and despite bitter people running their mouth about AJ Styles, like it or not, Michelle McCool made that move unique. She had unique counters to moves you would never expect her to counter and go right into the finisher…Kelly goes for a Hurricanrana, BOOM – Faith Breaker. I still remember that one time Gail Kim went for a the pin, but mid-air Michelle reversed into her own pin then rolled through to pick Kim up for the Faith Breaker & then that time Tiffany went for a monkey flip and Michelle lifted her into the Faith Breaker. Say what you want, but Michelle made that move her own & she did make it look devastating. TBH, while the Voodoo Drop is impressive, Roxxi used it (during her run with TNA) a handful of times. I’m voting for the Faith Breaker because it wasn’t always used differently & uniquely.

So damn true!
I had to log in to say this myself but you stated it well enough.
McCool’s Faithbreaker was an awesome move and one of my favorites of all time.
Of course I don’t expect her to move on since she isn’t really liked but whatever haters gonna hate.. ;)

YES. I still remember Melina setting up for her Code Red move, and Michelle literally dragging her backwards over her shoulder into one of the most devastating faithbreakers she ever did. And people talking about how AJ Styles did the move need to stfu. The move existed way before he ever did it! Like the DDT, the Lou Thesz press, hell even the most basic of moves like the suplex originated somewhere! Very rarely does a wrestler entirely invent their own move, so I will never understand by Michelle got so much crap for it!

Exactly, I agree with both of you & I apologize for the little typo at the end there, I meant I voted because it WAS (not wasn’t) always used differently and uniquely. ssilva872, you said it best…haters gonna hate. I will forever love her version of the move & I’m glad others see it that way too :)

By the way CW, I freaking love that counter you mentioned…the Melina one. I was looking for that video earlier to relive the awesomeness, but I couldn’t find it anywhere. I just know Alicia was accompanying Michelle to the ring, but I can’t find it.

This match? It was Melina(c) and Eve vs Michelle and Layla w/Alicia Fox midway through 2009. If you’re having trouble, it was the week after Layla beat Melina in a six woman tag match. =] I agree, was a pretty devastating Faith Breaker.

Also if you watch the Styles Clash and then the Faith Breaker, you can see Michelle did it better. She outshined AJ’s version.

I’ll go with Faithbreaker.

Voodoo drop

I never really liked the Faithbreaker. It always seemed like kind of a lame move to me and it never had the impact that I think a finisher should.
at
Barbie Crusher/Voodoo Drop…the faithbreaker hardly ever looked impactful….
at
Faithbreaker. The Voodoo Drop doesn’t even look like it hurts honestly. She just sits down with them..
at
Faith Breaker. Because even if the Voodoo Drop looks more impactful, it also needs more help: the arm, the legs around the waist and the head, i mean, every finisher needs help from both wrestlers, but this one…..
On the other hand, if you use the Faith Breaker in real life, it would be really really painful.

I never thought that the Faithbreaker or the Styles Clash were effective finishers. Basically all the impact is on the legs, which wouldn’t put anyone away. The Barbie Crusher compresses the spine and slams the opponent with all their body weight onto their tail bone, which hurts like hell. So the obvious choice is the Barbie Crusher/Voodoo Drop

Actually, the point of the Faith Breaker is to completely slam the opponent (face, torso, mid-section, legs, and all) to the mat. That’s why you’ll see Michelle put HER legs over her opponents arms before completing the move, because that’s how you ensure that they cannot simply put their hands/forearms out in front of them to avoid their face clashing with the mat. & with Michelle’s body being behind her opponents when she falls forward, she’s squishing them down to the mat while keeping her own face out of harms way.

It is really easy for their face to not even hit the mat. All they have to do is pull their head back a little and then they don’t get hit. And even if it did hit the face it would take minimal damage because the head is already so close to the mat

Lol you have to realize this is a HEAD bouncing off of a MAT…no matter at what angle or height, that ish is gonna hurt and could without a doubt knock someone out for 3 solid seconds to get a pinfall. & you then have to realize that wrestling IS fake, so even though it may not actually cause any harm, it’s supposed to look like it does. Just like the Voodoo Drop…just like you described what it’s SUPPOSED to do, it doesn’t really do that, she’s just basically making them have a seat, but with the appearance of the move, you’re imagining all of what you described. But I guess we’ll agree to disagree.
at
Lol the voodoo drop makes you take a seat it is an amazing finisher and i think the only one to ever not get pinned by it was madison in the career vs title match when the “momentum” pushed her out of the ring. thats why im voting for it.
at
Faithbreaker
at
voodoo drop! i’m not in love with the faithbreaker.
at
My vote is the voodoo drop. To me, its very creative. It compresses the spine, lands the opponent on her rear with forceful impact, introduces the opponent’s knee into their own face, which causes them to whip their neck back up and basically slam themselves to the mat.
at
The faith breaker is one of the worst finishers to me. It was always extremely slow and clunky getting into the move and then on top of that it looked like it didn’t really hurt it or was impactful and at times looked like it would hurt the user also. Just an impractical sloppy mess lol
at
I actually like the “Faithbreaker,” and I think that it’s impressive that Michelle had the strength to perform it on even the heaviest divas of her time, but if ANY finisher in women’s wrestling can legitimately stand up against Tara’s “Widow’s Peak,” it’s gotta be the “Voodoo Drop.” That move just looks like Roxxi could snap anyone’s neck at will; and unlike the “Faithbreaker,” it’s an original move AND no one has ever kicked out of it. “Voodoo Drop” VS “Widow’s Peak” for the final two!!!
at
I like both, but I’ll go with the Faithbreaker.
at
I could never get into faithbreaker not even when aj styles did it because its so eh. You can see the opponent putting there arms back, and plus it doesn’t even look effective, there head don’t even touch the mat. Plus when Michelle does its usually sloppy. I give her her credit for trying to be different (besides the fact that another person was using it on tv, for someone odd reason i can’t let that pass and also taking other people moves), but they were more better finisher (in tna) that she could of use.
The voodoo drop actually looks painful, kinda of like the window peaks, it’s like you crushing your opponent. It’s freaking cool.
at
Never liked the Faithbreaker. Even AJ doesn’t make it look impactful. The Barbie Crush is one of my favorite moves ever. Looks impactful and can fuck up someone’s spine for a while.
at
“Faith Breaker” all the way! It will always be impactful and it can be used in so many ways! The “Barbie Crush” or The “Voodoo Drop” looks less painfull, to me McCool always did impact with that finisher and many other moves that she did. In other hand “The Voodoo Drop” looks creative but creativity doesn’t mean impactul to me! xD “FAITH BREAKER” all the way! McCool is one of the best ever! (:
at
Voodoo drop for me. Never thought Mrs. Undertaker as that great in the ring and never really deserved to get as far as she did. Plus her finisher is just a styles clash ripoff.
