WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has praised former independent sensation turned WWE trainer, Sara Del Rey.
The commentator, who appears on NXT, WWE’s developmental show, praised Del Rey’s work with the NXT Divas citing that Thursday’s tapings had some strong Divas matches.
He said: “Sara Del Rey doing an excellent job working/coaching the Divas. IMO it was the best in ring Divas bouts Thursday night I’ve seen in WWE in a while. Layla, Alicia Fox, Paige and newcomer Sasha did well.”
Del Rey signed with WWE earlier this year as a trainer for the company’s developmental women, but before that was known for her work in CHIKARA, SHIMMER and more and is arguably the top female wrestler in North America.

Not a shock to hear SDR is doing well as a trainer. The only thing that woman doesn’t know how to do is fail.

I loved reading this (and probably most NXT thoughts) from JR because not only is there so much promise for the future of WWE amongst the men and women but particularly the work from all four Divas Thursday night was fantastic and I’m glad SDR gets the credit where it’s due.

I would still like to see her make it on Raw or Smackdown at some point. She’s too good to be in the WWE as only a trainer.

She is so great, its a shame she’s not out there competing herself. At the very least, she will be the reason these otherwise mediocre, “wrestling divas” will possibly turn out good sooner than later.

That’s wonderful! I think a female trainer is what the divas have been needing for a long while because the male trainers are more likely going to be a little easier and softer on the woman but with another woman training the divas she’ll be tougher on them. Also, I wonder how Master Diva Trainer Del Rey’s training methods are affecting the learning and progression of the much greener girls like Anya, Charlotte and Dani and to a lesser extent on girls who already seem to have a grasp of the basics like Audrey and Summer?

I really want to see Del Rey compete in the ring for WWE/NXT, even just once. Maybe she and Paige could have a one off match, or they could even have Nattie come down.

I do hope sara can move into a wrestling role in the future….i tjhink it should be mandatory for ALL the divas to train with her….aksana,rosa & cameron could really benefit from it…..

Charlotte actually has some training which before she was signed, she was training with George South a name from the NWA and former WCW star Lodi in North Carolina
Rachelle St. Claire is actually signed and apparently she appeared at a independent show that had Rebecca Knox in it where she confirmed that she has a shoulder injury

The best thing would be if she wrestles on TV.
1. It would be great seeing one of the best female wrestler in a WWE game.
2. More people would fine out about SHIMMER and other great women wrestling promotions , since thats how I found out by watching Awesome Kong during her TNA days.

A small note here. Is it just me or do other people get a bit rankled when you hear that someone is “the best wrestler in North America/Europe/anywhere but Japan,” with the implication being that OF COURSE the best wrestlers in the world have to be in Japan. Now, I know that a lot of writers on this site are in the UK, so I think that phrase has a more truly international scope than it would if I had heard a fellow American say it.
(I watched the EVE show last week, and thought Nikki Storm is incredible; I’d have to see more European wrestling, but I’d say she’s the tops of what I saw on the PPV).
Does anyone else think that here’s an almost mythological reverence given to the Japanese wrestler in a lot of wrestling fans’ and sites’ eyes?

NXT as we all know has more freedom with moveset now that it’s like FCW was so it’s rather normal that the Divas will be able to showcase more stuff SDR or not.
Having such things only on NXT doesn’t do anything for the division no matter how hard Sarah or the other girls try.
Change can only come through good storylines, involvement with main eventers, time and less moveset restrictions.
All of this on the main roster.
As long as this isn’t happening, they can deliver a 5 star match on NXT and no one except of us would care.

Sara has only been here for a few month, how can she get the credit, maybe it was good because of the divas involved in the match and if not, that just means the trainer who trained the Divas in FCW sucks really hard … and oh surprise they’re still the trainers in FCW !!!

The minute she got a WWE trainer contract I imagined a story-line where SDR is the master and Paige is the rebel former student of her’s who wants to prove that she’s way better than her teacher.A story-line based on respect in which Sara will try to beat the respect into Paige,but who will win? Doesn’t matter it’ll be epic anyway….AH! But I’m fine if she stays just a trainer,because I really think soon it’ll start to show that she’s doing a hell of a job for the divas.She really can do a lot more for wrestling this way.

Sara’s doing an awesome job as a trainer but… I want to see her in the ring on RAW or Smackdown. She’s got more talent that the rest of the roster and even has more than a lot of the guys (who she could probably beat too). I NEED to see Sara Del Rey with the Diva’s title.
