Exclusive: Kharma Talks WWE, Her Release, Return to Wrestling, Divas, TNA and More!

In her first exclusive interview since being released by WWE, the star known as Kharma, Amazing Kong and Awesome Kong speaks to Diva Dirt about her time in WWE, her departure from the company, her return to the ring, her plans to star in a reality show and much, much more.

For Kia Stevens, WWE had always been the dream. Since starting her career in the dojos of Japan, to breakout success in TNA as Knockouts Champion, WWE was where she wanted to be. In December 2010, Kia got the call that changed her life — and she reveals for the first time, it couldn’t have come a moment sooner. “I was 14 days away from announcing my retirement,” she confesses.

As Kharma, she broke the mold for what it meant to be a WWE Diva and had monumental success with video packages hyping her debut, the wrestling world abuzz for her appearances, and she even made WWE’s video game two years in a row. Not bad for a woman who was only on television for one month.

Stevens, 35, admits it was “bittersweet” when she had to put her dream career on hold as she became pregnant. Kia would later tell TMZ she lost her baby, and in January of this year made a shocking return at the Royal Rumble as only the third woman to compete in the prestigious Rumble match — and the superstar tells us she didn’t even inform her fiance she was taking part!

Here, Kharma talks exclusively and openly for the first time about her time in WWE, her release, her thoughts on the Divas — “They don’t get enough credit” — she crossed paths with, plans for her character, filming those amazing doll segments, the Royal Rumble, plans for her return and release and much more.

The former TNA Knockouts Champion also tells us about her return to the ring at SHINE 5 two weeks ago, her plans for the future and why she won’t be returning to TNA.

    SO EXCITED DIVA-DIRT LOVES KIA!!!!

    • totallynecessary

I Have a Feeling that the POST-TNA about TNA chapter is gonna be SO JUICY!!

  • Jack Newport

It’s a shame Kharma got pregnant when she did. The Divas division would, without a doubt, be in a better state today had she stayed.

    • Lita-Sault-666

It was only a few weeks ago that the divas division looked to be in a strong position anyway, they don’t actually need Kharma, or a Trish return, although either would be great, they have the talent, they just need the direction.
Storylines seem tks be on hold this week but hopefully back on track again come Monday as far as the divas title is concerned! XD.

      • Jack Newport

I hope so. I think Eve and Layla visiting the troops + Kaitlyn’s arrest is why we didn’t see anything this week.

      • christopher_cc

well some of them have the talent some needs to practice more at acting and wrestling

  • Nostalgia

    Listening now

  • Nostalgia

She sounds like my aunt from Guam loll

    • Londonboy

I thought she sounded a bit like Chyna

      • Nostalgia

Chyna sounds a bit more nasal

Awesome Kong for life!! She proved that asshole bubba the Sponge piece of garbage wrong!! WWE wanted Kong! I somehow predicted Kong I WWE.. After LayCool were put through tables it seemed Divas were getting stronger and better… It took two years but the divas are getting better again with Eve Layla Kate Fox AJ Natalya and Aksana leading the charge :)
Proud of this crop of divas

And Knockouts Kong Gail and the gang all made history and put on epic hard hitting matches!! Wooooooo!! Love TNA and love the Knockouts!!

  • Nostalgia

She’s shitted on TNA, lol. I think she’ll be back in the WWE next year

    • ZPZA

Hopefully. She seemed to be leading us on towards that trail.

    • totallynecessary

Absolutely…. its cause the business side is so jacked, that’ll turn everyone off, she deserved betta and that whole Love sponge ordeal is probably still salty in her mind… The fact that she is still in WWE13, tells me she still in very good terms with WWE… They know she can be their New CHYNA… Kharma is a cash cow for them if worked properly… AND EVERYONE IS ROOTING FOR HER… #TEAMKIA

      I strongly agree!

  • shameronstar

Great interview! What a talented, fasinating, smart, well spoken, and classy lady she is. A true living legend in women’s wrestling, and I can’t wait for the possible wwe return and the book:D In the mean time I hope everything she works on and is pursuing works out well for her!

  • divaindemise

Inspiring woman and without a doubt a force d crazy magnetism. I hope WWE don’t give up on Kharma.

  • Getdownwithachola

    Is she’s Haitian???

BRING BACK THE BELLA TWINS… WE NEED CLOSURE!!!

  • javiousmckenzie

I think you would be a fool to not catch the subliminals in this interview she basically said she asked for her release cause she just was not ready she could have returned at any time but she just could not do it and WWE accepted her request due to the fact there still paying her while she sits and do mourn the door is still open and I would not doubt if we see her back before the Summer of 2013 I think there just giving her time while saving money in the process catch how they never made a announcement or nothing about her release like they normally do and when she comes back and dominate Beth will return aswell

    • Raekon

I hope what you say is really true cause when she talked about not making things in time, it sounded like the time they gave her to lose weight and she didn’t make it.

      • Spike7000

The whole WWE wanting her to lose weight was just a bs rumor by the dirt sheets they started making up because oh they didn’t get a ”answer” on her release

    • http://www.heartbreakerscommunity.com/index.php Aria–

      You mapped it out perfectly.

  • Raekon

Nice Interview, I really enjoyed it and I hope she will be back in the WWE so we can enjoy her on tv/videos more. :)

  • SherriShepherdWWE

what i found most interesting about this interview, is that she was very conscious about what she said about WWE and how she said it, I really really believe we will see Kharma return to WWE very soon, or at least by summer, i just kept getting that feeling and her saying WWE is her new home, girl u were only there for like a month on TV and a year half on contract, so i thinks something more between kharma and wwe going we just dont know yet

    fingers crossed

  • VarsityBaseDude

Kia is going to end up being back in TNA before going to WWE again. Who knows. If TNA pushes their women more again, I would not be surprised if she ends up in TNA again. I would love to see her in WWE again too.

  • pumped up kicks

I loooove me some Kia!! She is so inspirational and amazing. She was truly special in the shine ippv! Hopefully she comes back to the wwe soon. I’d love to see her fight Tamina, Paige, Aj, hell even Eve!

  • shameronstar

I just remembered if weight loss is one of Kharma’s major goals she could try something called intermittent fasting! I heard that doing that just melts the fat off of you.

  • Getdownwithachola

Thank you “http://www.diva-dirt.com/2012/11/29/exclusive-kharma-amazing-kong-interview/” for the interview it gave me hope to see the woman who is responsible of me becoming women wrestling fan back in the big leagues.

  • fahkyooh

I give so much props to the interviewer, great way of getting answers and asking great questions.

I think Kharma was fired because she got way too big-headed to be honest. I mean, it’s so obvious just by the way she talks. She doesn’t even want to properly acknowledge her release because it makes her sound like she’s a lesser.

    • javiousmckenzie

Bubba is that you? Have a seat in a empty arena and watch Hornswoggle and Michael Cole wrestle in the first ever eternity match meaning forever

  • Souma

I miss Awesome Kong. She had fantastic feuds with Gail Kim and Taylor Wilde in TNA back then. I hope she comes back to WWE soon.

  • Mroqqszb

Point blank period she said like 10 times the WWE is her home. She’s resigned. As she said soon. She’s basically taken the indy bookings to get ring rust off since it’s been 2 years since she actually wrestled. Just give her time, and she’ll be back and wrecking Divas left and right.

  • B1G_FaN

What a great interview! I cannot wait to see Kharma back in WWE and hope that it happens sometime in 2013! Based on her responses, it seems like we have not seen the last of Kharma in WWE! :o)

  • http://facebook.com/mykael.kennedy mykel1990

I loved this interview, she is so sweet and very personable. Her voice kind of surprised me, like a blend of Alicia Fox and Chyna’s. I thought this was really well done, and I hope to see Kia in the ring on the big stage sometime soon!!

  • Rhawk

So many cryptic comments, that’s Kia for you! ;-) Love the woman, hope to see her do what she loves to do, wherever that may be.

  • MAXILLIAN

Loved this interview, very much miss seeing her in the big companies. I have to be honest I rarely watch Independents anymore.

She’s a good person to interview she’s very amusing. I wish her luck with the weight loss.

    • Getdownwithachola

Perhaps the bad economy is eating you alive too :)

      • MAXILLIAN

        I’m just tight

  • amb3r

Kharma Vs Del Rey!! Del Rey should debut as John Cena’s ex-wife in the chaos of a storyline!! With Kharma debuting to equal the odds!!

But I wish WWE stops being a soap opera and concentrate on Wrestling!! AJ is overrated!! If anything they should beg Maryse to accept a contract, at least she is over the top gorgeous and every man would want to make out with her!! AJ looks underage and it’s seriously gross, I think she’ll kiss Dolph, and Randy next…
