Sources tell Diva Dirt that WWE has signed another independent talent, this time in California based competitor, Davina Rose.
The young star has been a regular in SHIMMER and is the protegee of former WWE star, Serena. Her in-ring style is said to be reminiscent of the former Straight Edge Diva, who famously had her head shaved by CM Punk on SmackDown.
SHIMMER promoter Dave Prazak appeared to confirm Diva Dirt’s report as he wrote on Twitter: “Congrats to @itsdavinarose & legit best wishes in all of your future endeavors! The sky is the limit.”
Davina will more than likely report to WWE’s developmental territory, NXT, in the near future.
Former SHIMMER Champion Sara Del Rey is the official trainer for female talents there.

Davina’s had a nice run of matches in SHIMMER, and I’m happy to say I was there for all of them. She’ll be trained well down at NXT with Death Rey.

To a degree, it is about looks. I’m not saying she has to look like a supermodel. I just feel like she doesn’t really stand out to me. I thought the same thing about AJ when they hired her. She came across basic/generic but she ended up developing her style and character a couple of years later.
I’ve finished watched a couple of her matches and she’s also basic in that area.

I have seen wrestler in person every few months at a local promotion and her wrestling skills started like Kelly Kelly at the beginning and improved over the past two years. I have some of her matches I video taped at Big Time Wrestling and I will post it up on Youtube later.

The mere fact that she was invited to 3 shimmer tapings should answer your question wether she can wrestle or not. Shimmer doesnt bring in people without wrestling skill, especially not when they have to fly them in all away from California.
Naturally she is no sara del rey, mercedes martinez or lufisto in the ring, but with 4 years experience she is very decent. I am not going to rank wrestlers from 1-10, but i’d say she is behind Natalya/Paige/Buggy/Tenille in skills of the current diva roster. Her only problem is that she doesnt really stand out, but i’m sure WWE will help her in developing character while she is in development.

But what I mean is people weren’t as concerned for the past few signings, especially with Sara Del Ray as the trainer for the Divas now. However suddenly, Davina gets signed and everyone is getting butthead for reasons they failed to bring up for the last few signings.

We’re not allowed to have at least one small criticism for an independent wrestler. We can only criticize models, WWE booking, TNA booking, the creative teams, stuff from the past, etc…

She live in a near by city from me and wrestle at a local promotion in my area called Big Time Wrestling. It nice to see a local wrestler get sign up by the WWE.

with all of these women in NXT they should call a few to the main roster, and relegate Aksana, Rosa and Cameron to managerial duties, while Naomi should begin regularly wrestling.
The main roster should look like this: Faces – Layla, Kaitlyn, AJ, Natalya, Naomi, Cameron (valet)
Heels – Eve, Alicia, Tamina, Paige, Emma, Aksana (valet)

Smh…the WWE is trying to sign more independent wrestlers, and just women who aren’t the typical “models” in general (Audrey Marie, Raquel Diaz, etc.) and all we can do is instantly judge these girls by their looks. We’re just as bad as the rest of the wrestling fans, and this is why the Divas will never get anywhere, because even the Diva fans can not get over looks. Let the girl show what she can do in the ring. Paige/Britani Knight wasn’t exactly a “looker” before WWE dolled her up (If you will, she even looked as young and rough as this Davina Rose), and now she’s everyone’s favorite. Give the girl a chance.
