It’s that time of year again when we make our annual wishes and predictions for women’s wrestling in the year ahead.
Previous wishes/predictions posts here (2010), here (2011) and here (2012).
2013 Wishes
* Sara Del Rey to wrestle on WWE TV (even if it is just on NXT), and not just be stuck behind the scenes.
* Naomi to ditch the Funkasaurus and Cameron, and become a full-fledged wrestling Diva.
* Athena to become the next big independent headliner, possibly by winning the SHIMMER Championship.
* More storyline-driven feuds in WWE, TNA and promotions such as SHINE.
* A new Awesome Kong-like Knockout to help shake up the division. Alpha Female, perhaps?
* Kharma to return to WWE.
* A singles match for the Diva Championship at WrestleMania, perhaps involving AJ Lee?
* A big women’s wrestling dream card featuring talents from all the major independent promotions.
* After all her success in the Knockouts division, wouldn’t it be fun to see Gail Kim try to go after the X-Division Title?
* A long overdue title reign for Natalya.
2013 Predictions
* Sable will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
* The Blossom Twins will join TNA on the back of TNA British Boot Camp.
* Knockouts Title reigns for Velvet Sky, Mickie James and Gail Kim.
* Kaitlyn will win the Divas Championship in early 2013, possibly at the Royal Rumble.
* Divas Title runs for AJ Lee and Eve.
* SHINE will introduce a championship, likely won by Jazz.
* Another big name will retire, like Michelle McCool and Beth Phoenix in the past two years.
* WWE will sign another high profile independent name like Sara Del Rey.
* Trish Stratus will reach her 100th magazine cover.
* Heel turns for Layla and Mickie James.
* Face turns for AJ Lee and Gail Kim.

I conceived an idea not too long ago for Sara Del Rey to be formally introduced on screen as the trainer of the Divas division. It would contribute to providing the WWE Universe a healthier perception of the women as hardworking athletes if they aired short segments displaying the process of the girls training under Sara.
Something else I thought would have been fun while feeding into the dreams of wrestling geeks was bringing Sara in as the trainer for the Divas during Kharma’s brief wrecking ball tour. A storyline could have been that the Divas turned to Sara for expertise in combating the leviathan, with perhaps even a match booked for Sara to stand up for her girls on their behalf. Pure fantasy booking, but it would have been nice.
I think it’s predictable that the likes of AJ, Eve and Kaitlyn will continue to be relevant in the Diva landscape. It doesn’t really excite me, to be honest, but that’s more to do with the fact I feel the division as a whole is rather shallow.
As for the Knockouts, I want to see more rotation with the roles of the women on the roster. I would really, really love for Madison Rayne to return as a face. Anyone who has seen her independent output can attest that the babyface role compliments her wrestling more and I think as it stands, she’s at a dead end with her current gimmick. And ODB could be a great roadblock for Tessmacher, or a babyface foil for, say, a newly heel Mickie James.
Oh, if the Blossom twins are signed, I hope Sarita and Rosita are brought back.

I think layla wont make 2013 as a diva since look at how far shes dropped in the title hunt & her matches taken off tv…..
Naomi needs to be a wrestler because shes that good but she needs to work the house shows just to shake off any rust from just dancing all the time maybe cameron & naomi should feud so both can become wrestlers….

For some reason I feel like Layla won’t be around much longer, maybe this year, but next year I could see her leaving on good terms.
I would love to see Lita, Kharma, or really any great past diva return LoL. With Lita I don’t think I’d like a full time return unless it was really something special. Melina returning would be a plus!
I feel like it’s a no brainer that Eve, AJ, and Kaitlyn will be around the Diva’s Championship. I hope someone else winds up in that mix like Naomi or Paige, perhaps Natalya.
I wish they’d give us more intergender tag matches because that could give Tamina, Rosa, Aksana, etc (anyone not in the title hunt) something else to do to grab fans attention.
I hope 2013 is a good year for the diva’s and we see some improvements!
As far as the KO’s go, I would really like to see more of the matches we used to see. I recall ladders, cages, a 5 sided ring, hardcore matches, etc. These also usually had more than 2 KO’s involved. So I wish they would give us more of those!
I would also love to see a monster heel for them!
Could we possibly get a female stable? That would shake things up!

I’d also like to see this piece of news. Because if they said this, wouldn’t it make sense to put her down in OVW for awhile since that is TNA’s development territory and all.
