raw

Hey guys, welcome to another edition of the Raw Redux. I apologize in advance for this as it seems like I’m suffering flu-like symptoms. But I don’t want to miss another one unless it can’t be helped, and I’m not falling asleep yet. So let’s get started. The 20th anniversary of Raw is well underway and we were hit with a heck of a rumor earlier today. Eve Torres could very well be on her way out? If that’s the case, then I think we can safely assume that Kaitlyn may end up as Divas Champ tonight, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. They’ve already teased us with a segment featuring Eve, along with Booker T and Teddy Long.

It is announced that tonight’s match will be no count out and no DQ? Hmmmm. This just got a bit more interesting. What makes this so great is that we rarely, if ever get Diva matches like this. I hope it comes off well.

My hopes don’t get off to a good start with Kaitlyn already in the ring as we return from commercial. She’s playing to her home state with a Texas shirt. Cute. Luckily, the match itself doesn’t disappoint. The unique stipulation basically ensured us that we would get an actual match, and the ending doesn’t come as a surprise given the news we heard earlier. Before I get to that, I want to recap some spots.

The hit Kaitlyn took on the outside was really well done. I love it when Divas take bumps like that. Kaitlyn has come so far and she sold it really well, and I like the extra added bonus of Eve rushing into the ring with her back to Kaitlyn, not knowing that the Texas native wasn’t going to be down for long. Eve is such a great heel.

The spear was beautiful. It made me think of when Kelly Kelly defended the World Heavyweight Championship on SmackDown and had the crowd in the palm of her hand. They went for an “OMG” finish, playing on the fact Kaitlyn was in her own backyard, and it worked. Eve folded up like an accordion, and it was perfection. I also enjoyed Kaitlyn’s emotion after winning her first title.

Eve as this heel character deserves to be applauded as well. I wrote her off as a face, to be honest. Her title reigns were generic and kind of boring, and like all other faces, nothing about her stood out. But when they gave her this role, they struck gold. I can’t really put into words just how good Eve has become. She already had the skills, it doesn’t take rocket science to see that. Then she got great at the rest of it, and I hope and pray this really isn’t the end. We can only speculate and hope and pray that it isn’t over, and with the WWE you never really know until you know. You know?

And now we know. After the match, and as covered by us, Eve has quit the WWE in character of course.

So I take it tonight was a passing of the torch kind of thing. It’s kind of bittersweet and I’m very sad to see Eve go. She was the perfect spokeswoman for the WWE. She’s intelligent, hard-working, eloquent, and the epitome of class. The WWE had a gem in Eve, as she was perfect for marketing. The fiery Diva had a heck of a year last year, both personally and professionally, and perhaps she feels like it’s time to move on. Whatever her reasons for leavings, the WWE has lost yet another Diva, and this particular loss might be the one that hurts the most.

I do believe Kaitlyn has potential to fill that gap, however. She’s a very fresh face who is so natural, and I’ve been drawn to her since NXT. She literally came out of nowhere to win the contest over favorites AJ and Naomi, and Kaitlyn has had to pay her dues. She wasn’t given a lot to work with after winning NXT and she worked her butt off in FCW. I really feel like she’s the perfect face for the fans to relate too right now. And in a lot of ways, she’s just like AJ. Her personality is just random, and natural, and she’s charismatic without even trying. I think it was the right move to put the championship on her with heels like AJ floating around, and a WrestleMania feud between the two former BFFs could be something worth getting excited for.

There comes a time where we’ve all got to move on and whatever Eve does now, the sky is the limit for her. I wish her nothing but the best and I also hope we get to see her again one day.

Very good last match for Eve, and great win for Kaitlyn. She deserves this title so much, and I firmly believe that she is going to have a great future. I am very sad to see Eve leave, so many divas are gone from that generation. Only three remain, which is ok, time for some new girls. Everything seemed so sudden, but it happened, so it is time to move on. I hate that people still hate on Kaitlyn, even though she has proven herself on numerous occasions. One day all of you haters will feel really, really stupid. Naomi didnt win, Aj didnt win, Kaitlyn did, let her have her moment to shine. Those other girls will have their shot, so stop bringing them up every time Kaitlyn gets praise. She deserves this as much as they do.

    FashionQueen86 Reply:

It’s not a matter of being a hater, it’s a matter of having an opinion that differs from yours. People don’t have to like Kaitlyn. For some, people think she’s not ready or deserves the title shot just yet.

    drewrey Reply:

I do know the difference, I am not saying that people have to love Kaitlyn. Yes, there are haters on this website, I do know what I am talking about, I have seen it. People are allowed to have an opinion, what I have a problem with is how people express their opinion sometimes, and some of the mean things people say. I don’t need a lesson on the difference between an opinion and an insult to a certain diva. I have respect for anyone’s opinion, until they get nasty. simple.

    fatima Reply:

    @Drewrey
I agree with you, it amazes me how rude some people are, it also makes me wonder if they themselves know the difference between criticizing and simply hating someone or their works. Then, they want to lable it at as an “opinion”, sure, obviously HATING someone is an “opinion” just admit it.
Before you think that I’m taking a shot at you “FashionQueen86″, I am not, everyone as their opinions and disliking something or someone isn’t a big deal but as Drewrey said, it’s the way they formulize their opinions that is uncalled for.

    drewrey Reply:

    @FATIMA
Thank you, I aprecitae your words, and I am so glad that there are others who understand what I am saying. I think alot of diva dirt users need to grow up.

    FashionQueen86 Reply:

If Drewrey is talking those that are putting others and Kaitlyn down for the heck of it, along with calling people names and that sort of thing, Then yes, I can agree with him and understand why he feels the way he feels. But from the way he responded, It looked as though it wasn’t the case. From my experiences, especially dealing with wrestling, the word ‘hater’ is often used against the other side, which was why I responded.

    Blac Chyna Reply:

Fatima hating would be bashing eve and if i think she doesnt deserve then hell its muy opinion so learn the difference since you so far up kaitlyn ass -.-

    drewrey Reply:

@blac chyna- Please relax, there is no need for your childish comments, please grow up.
@fashionqueen86- yes that is what I am talking about, and I don’t believe I put it in a way that would lead others to think otherwise. I am sorry if you took my comments that way, but I can assure you, that is not what I meant. The problem on this website is that people assume that others are always being offensive, so everyone gets defensive. That is why there is always so much negativity.

    fatima Reply:

Indeed FashionQueen86, I can relate to you, some people are very sensitive and they can’t make the difference between someone who is expressing their opinion as oppose to being incredibly rude and immature, they rather say “Oh you are hating” whenever you disagree with them and say “Well it’s my opinion” whenever they “bash” anyone else.

However, I can assure you that You, Drewrey and I feel the same way when it comes to expressing our thoughts.

    FashionQueen86 Reply:

    @Drewery. Okay, Apologize. :D

@Fatima. Yea, it was just a wrong interpretation. But That’s wrestling. Comments can get really heated, as I see they already have. :D

would have thought Lillian would have made some referrence to her being the hometown girl

    Raekon Reply:

It seems that the management hates it when a Diva gets a huge pop and most of all a bigger one than a superstar. :(

In her first appearance in houston against laycool they billed her from her hometown and the pop was THAT huge that they toned it down in the smackdown that was showed on TV.

I know because I happen to had watched a fan based video with the original footage. Even Laycool got a great pop as heels but Kaitlyns was awesome.

So the second time she appeared there(it was even on NXT I think) they didn’t mentioned she was from houston.

Now I expected them to do it at least this time and what do they do?
Exactly! Leaving it out again but billing Eve from colorado anyway. -.-

Would they had billed Kaitlyn properly, she would had gotten another huge pop and even more reactions during the match and after.

Really dislike such moments because they are unfair towards their talents that are working very hard for their spot.

    WWFoverWWE Reply:

Or Lillian just forgot trying to remember that stipulation.

    KaitlynLover<3 Reply:

Lillian looked like that she was having some problems with the stipulation xD

    TorrieWilsonFan03 Reply:

at least the crowd knew who she was and reacted appropriately when he won! can’t wait to see how things are gonna be with Kaitlyn, her and AJ will be Trish and Lita for a new generation if management allows it

  3. I liked the match a lot, Kaitlyn and Eve both looked great!
So happy for Kaitlyn, she has improved so much from NXT and that awful match against Maxine, she is really coming into her own. Her tout made me cry, nobody can fake that emotion as well as the backstage fall out, She had some really nice things to say about Eve.

Speaking about Eve, I was never really a fan of her character as a face or a heel, but she has done a great job in wrestling. She committed 100% and has improved leaps and bound from knowing nothing. I always loved how she would change up her finishers, more than the other divas would. I’m glad she left on her terms, I know she has her wedding to plan, and if she wants to have children. I hope she has nothing but success, she is a strong and smart women who has the world at in her hands. Good luck!!!

Im just glad WWE showed the Edge and Lita wedding last night. Great memories.

  5. Raekon

The match could had been even better but for what it was and the backstory it had, it was good.

The interaction, the characters, the attitude, the psychology was all there.

Both girls worked greatly with each other (as expected after so many encounters) and the huge modified spear was pure awesomeness from the execution to the selling (must have put quite a few superstars in shame but who cares right? :p ).

Kaitlyn launched and turned like a torpedo and Eves bump was flawless.

Will miss Eve a lot but like Kaitlyn said in her video “Whatever makes her happy!”. :)

  6. Nostalgia

This wasn’t really a redux but eh. I’m hoping that at the royal rumble we get a #1 contenders match with a new diva or two debuting

  7. moonpiggy

that douchebag with the restroom break sign at 0:18 just makes me so angry.. disgusting pig who has nothing in life probably

I’m trilled for Kaitlyn :) She’s worked her ass of to get where she is :) I can’t wait to see how her title run will go and who her next feud will be. I thoroughly enjoyed her feud with Eve/Layla. For once it wasn’t a huge feud on getting the title (well towrds the end it was) but it was classic b*tchy type fight one. AJ/Kaitlyn is a feud i’m interested in seeing how they are going to do it. I know other people have said it before but I really do think AJ & Kaitlyn have the potential for becoming the next Trish and Lita.

Now onto Eve, I cannot begin to say how sad i am for her departure. While I’m glad she’s left on her own terms, I will definately miss her. As said by Diva Dirt already, Eve has had a great 2012 and she left WWE at the top of her career. I guess it’s time for the next chapter in the life of Eve Torres and I can’t wait to pick up the finished book :) Bye Eve thank you for all you have done & accomplished in your time in WWE :)

  9. redsandman99

I thought the match was great. Even knowing about Eve going in, I got sucked into the drama of the match. They went all in with the false finishes and that spear was a thing of beauty.

  10. Lily

I’m going to actually miss Eve. That leaves Layla, Alicia and Natalya from this generation of veterans. Beth was the last Diva from her generation to leave (McCool, Melina, Candice and Mickie).

I’m so happy that Kaitlyn won, though. It’s sort of like a veteran leaves and a new one is starting to be born in the ring. I think Kaitlyn could have a worthy feud with AJ and AJ eventually winning the title from her (hopefully Wrestlemania).

  11. moogle

honestly the best divas match I’ve seen in a very very long time.

Both divas had a lot of great WRESTLING moves in the match, not a hint of catty “model” scrapping that we often get. A brilliant finish too.

Really happy with the match, a brilliant way to say goodbye to an amazing diva who has proven that a model can be a fully-fledged wrestler to compete with. And also, to say hello to one of the upcoming top girls in the company.

Love both of them and yeah so so impressed by this match.

  12. ANatural36

I loved the match, it seemed like an inevitable win for Kaytlin given the stipulation and with the news of Eve’s departure coming quickly. I also loved that Kaytlin kicked out of Eve’s neckbreaker as a fan of not just womens wrestling but wrestling in general I got a real thrill from that haha. Overall I am looking foward to Kaytlins reign and to see what she can do with the belt if given the correct positioning. I’m going to miss Eve! She’s come quite a long way from being someone many fans wanted her gone due to her associations with the Divasearch. She’s fought hard to be on top, and I really wish her well in her future : )

  13. KaitlynLover<3

I can´t say how much I love Kailtyn, and how happy I am for her!

When I was watching the match I felt so many emotions, when Eve hit the neckbreaker I thought it was the end, but then Kailtyn kicked ou, and I was like OMG :O, then Kaitlyn hit the Gutbuster, and I thought, this is it, she is gonna win, but it wasnt, then I thought Eve would make Kailtyn lose by countout, and then kailtyn hit that brutal spear and won, I was can´t say how happy I was was, I felt so stupid because I started to talk alone lol

By the way, it is reported that Kaitlyn will defend her championship in Royal Rumble, but they dont know who!

And I would love to see Kaitlyn entering on the Royal Rumble match aswell, I think I would die LOL

    wkcannon Reply:

haha mabye she’ll face Alicia………………… all the matchs ive seen with them have been pretty Good. or mabye a Diva Rumble for #1 contendership……… like at TLC… i would love that

I’m glad Kaitlyn is the new diva’s champion. She just seems to fit with the title well! After thinking about it there’s 3 people who would make sense for Kaitlyn to feud with: Tamina, Layla, and AJ. Tamina has been quietly been building up and since there last nxt match was really good I sure these two could have a very physical feud over the title. Layla has kind of fallen into obscurity and since she’s been subtly hinted at having some jealousy towards Kaitlyn I think Layla would play a great heel where she’s a frustrated veteran that’s desperate for her glory back. AJ and Kaitlyn would probably draw the most interest because of there history and AJ’s current status in the wwe. Not only that if done right but because there real life friends the chemistry they have could make a AJ/Kaitlyn feud be “THE” feud that reignites the division and be one of the most personal and emotional ones in years!

    Nostalgia Reply:

    Yes!

    K2Evefan Reply:

Personally i think aj/naomi will be the feud to fully reignite the division but the aj/kaitlyn fued leading up to it will be the kindling :-)

I don’t like EVE or Kaitlyn so I use Fast forward button. and who cares EVE quit I don’t care! call me when you have Jessicka or Melissa or Sara or Kana in the WWE! in till then just shut down Diva’s Div!

    redsandman99 Reply:

If you don’t care then why in the blue hell are you even commenting? We feel like being a troll or something?

    Lita-Sault-666 Reply:

Never mind commenting, why bother even skipping through the video? The divas division will never EVER just be in-ring veterans. Its about entertainment, they need divas who have in ring talent, as well as Mic skills, who are beautiful and intelligent too. There’s more to the wwe divas than simply gutting on a match. This isn’t the Indies, you need more qualities on your résumé

Lmao at ppl gettin mad that Kaitlyn “didnt get an entrance.” She did get an entrance it just wasnt televised…stop whining.

    Raekon Reply:

I wasn’t mad about it and no she didn’t got one.
She was introduced like a regular jobber does as “in the ring”.

What I disliked though was that they left out that she is from houston by cause for the second time.

  17. Awesome math! Divas style! Eve man she was on her A-game! And Kate was bringing the ass kicking!! Don’t mess with Tess and Madison Rayne references? Hehe

And also the finisher kick outs, the third rope head sissor takedown and also the nasty hits Kate takes to the head she’s one tough chick congrats Kate well deserved!! The spear was explosive!! And thank you Eve :)

And maybe King isn’t allowed to say it but, when Eve rips kaitlyns shirt, AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!! Puppies!!! Wooohooooooooo!!! JR LOOK!!!

    Lol.. Classic ;)

Here’s the list of Divas following Eve’s departure:

    • AJ Lee
    • Aksana
    • Alicia Fox
    • Cameron
    • Kaitlyn
    • Layla
    • Naomi
    • Natalya
    • Rosa Mendes
    • Tamina Snuka

    I wanna see the following:

    • Paige getting called to the main roster, with Emma, Sasha Banks and Audrey Marie behind her.

    • Kaitlyn having a great feud with AJ Lee and/or Naomi until WrestleMania 30.

    • Naomi in the ring, with Cameron as her valet in their “Black LayCool”-esque gimmick, once/if the creative team decides to have them ditch Brodus or vice-versa.

    • Tamina, Alicia and Natalya used PROPERLY!!!

    • Aksana getting some training with Sara Del Rey.

    • Rosa, same as Aksana.

    Ryan Reply:

Hey! I am remembering Awesome Kong’s group was the Kongtourage. But in between they had Sojo Bolt lead the team in a very Black LayCool-esque fashion
    Specially Sojo and Rhaka Khan!
But they always got their asses kicked by Taylor Roxxi n ODB ha!

With Eve gone now, this pretty much makes it official: AJ & Kaitlyn are the new faces of the Divas division. Who would’ve predicted when they debuted on NXT 2 years ago? lol I’m still amazed by how much Kaitlyn has improved since then. Girl really worked her ass off to deserve the title. Good for her.

  20. VelvetLoveFan

Everyone is excited for kaitlyn (including me) but in a few months everyone will be bored like they usually are when some wins the title for a little while it’s annoying how everyone “changes their minds” all of a sudden.. But whatever. good match too.. Spear was very good

  21. NT86

I’m happy that Kaitlyn won, but kinda sad that Eve’s now gone. As this was her final match with the company it was a really entertaining one and the crowd responded to it a lot better than recent Divas matches.

It was Kaitlyn’s best WWE match to date, IMO. That spear at the end was very sharp!

  22. johnny

Congrats to Kaitlyn and sad Eve is gone the time she’s been in wwe seems so short and did anyone spot that sick unintentional bump when eve kicked kaitlyn’s leg and fell face first into Eve’s knee ouch.

    rodneyclint Reply:

That was planned, Mickie and Trish also did this in their Wrestlemania match. Pretty cool spot nonetheless.

  23. Liked the match, but am left unhappy with Eve leaving. She was such a talent. Now is the time of the NXT divas.

  24. AKA_AK

I hope Natalya leaves too. WWE are wasting her talent.

  25. k2evecrew

This is one of my favorite matches . I love how they act like they want to kill each other it made their rivalry & the divas championship look important. The only thing i wish they would’ve had another diva maybe attempt to interfere so that way they could start a new feud while ending this one. As sad as its to see eve leave I can’t wait to see kaitlyn feud with AJ they’re wrestlemania match is gonna be epic. Hopefully aj dumps ziggler or maybe they connect the diva fued with the main eventers by having kaitlyn date cena or something because the divas are in need of a strong heel .

    jen07201 Reply:

    Cena and Kaitlyn?

    KaitlynLover<3 Reply:

Yes, Kaitlyn and Cena would benefit very much Kailtyn!

    gl83 Reply:

Unfortunately it’s never going to happen since it’s been reported that WWE wants to keep Cena single to keep his female fanbase happy. If Kaitlyn dates Cena it’s going to end with either Cena dumping her or Kaitlyn turning on Cena and going Heel.

Besides Cena is going to be too busy dealing with the Rock at WM29 to be involved in a Divas Feud.
