trishRumor has it that the WWE Hall of Fame may get a little Stratusfaction come April 6th.

Seven-time WWE Women’s Champion Trish Stratus has been contacted for induction into this year’s Hall of Fame, according to various reports today.

The former WWE Diva — arguably the most popular and decorated Diva in company history — would join Hardcore Legend Mick Foley as this year’s top inductees when the ceremony takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York City the night before WrestleMania 29.

Joining WWE in 2000, Trish’s career in the company was nothing short of a storybook run, winning the Women’s Championship on seven occasions, competing at WrestleMania, main eventing Raw, being crowned Babe of the Year three times and Raw’s Diva of the Decade. Meanwhile, her memorable feuds with Lita and Mickie James are considered some of the Divas division’s best work.

Since her retirement in 2006, Trish has returned a handful of times, perhaps most significantly in 2011 as a trainer on USA Network’s revival of Tough Enough and as a competitor at WrestleMania 27.

There is no denying that the Canadian star is worthy of induction, but who could be her potential inductor? We can’t think of anyone more fitting than her career-long rival and friend, Lita, real name Amy Dumas.

While her induction is not yet official, a preemptive congratulations to Trish, who is also the first ever Diva Dirt Legacy Award winner!

    well deserved

I agree. Trish Stratus was the greatest Diva and has been thus far. She’s beautiful, charming, and smart. There’s no other DIVA that compares. It would be great if Lita inducted her, but I wouldn’t mind Fit Finlay! He helped tranform the womens division afterall.

  2. VelvetLoveFan

Great choice, wonder who will induct her

  3. k2evecrew

Congrats to trish she really deserves it

  4. xLitaFan4Everx

Please let this be true! This has made me so happy. This has totally cheered me up after a rotten day I’ve had. Well deserved. I hope Lita gets to induct her. I hope we get confirmation of this soon. Congrats Trish in advance if true. :D

  5. While I personally believe she is overrated my congrats still go out to her. I think her and Lita should be inducted together for all they done for the division.

Michelle mccool is what you call overrated

    GrrMonster Reply:

I wouldn’t consider MIchelle Mccol overrated since she was never over. WWE just shove her down our thoarts. Trish is in someway can be overrated, but she did do some impact in wrestling that the fan care about. The same thing can’t be said about Michelle.

    christopher_cc Reply:

if you don’t consider Michelle mccool overrated then you must have another definition of overrated

    GrrMonster Reply:

Okay , you have a point.

WWE wise i would consider Michelle Mccool overrated, because they continue to knownledge her as something so big, but wrestling fan could careless about her. Example: At her last match fan were happy with the fact that she was leaving, because they were tired of her.

The samething cannot be said with IWC or fans in general, besides the fact that Michelle made history more than once people don’t consider her some type icon, as WWE make her out to be, I mean Layla has more followers on twitter than her.

She on the other hand, even though people can overrate her at time, i can not denied that she made some impact in wrestling, even when she was always in the spotlight. Trish didn’t overshadow her fellow talents, and didn’t mind losing matches a couple of times. Even though she was Vince favorite, she made share that others had a chance to shine, and was well like backstage. From what she first started, she improved leaps and bounds.

    Getdownwithachola Reply:

Mostly she is overrated because fans claim she is the best female wrestler in history.

    ajfan83 Reply:

Trish is overrated, mostly by WWE, but she did connect with the fans well enough to deserve a majority of her pushes. Michelle, on the other hand, was never over in her entire career and would have been fired if not for her husband. That’s the huge difference between them.

    GrrMonster Reply:

Exactly! I wouldn’t consider Michelle as a HOF anyway, yeah she did all that history making, but who cared when she did. I mean did she do any promotion for the WWE, Her hubby for an example, been in the WWE for 22 years, only has eight title reign in the WWE, but besides the fact he is extremly over with fans, he doesn’t need a champion to get an reaction.

    GrrMonster Reply:

And when he does when a champion, he gets an reaction.

    christopher_cc Reply:

well I mean call it what you want but michelle mccool still = overrated

    GrrMonster Reply:

Honestly, I would consider Michelle Mccool last three years in the WWE overrated, it wasn’t all that great.

    GrrMonster Reply:

Who Michelle? She improved as a divas search girl, I’ll give her that, but she wasn’t all that great, she was decent, but at the same time wasn’t all that interesting.Besides the fact that she was boring as hell. Mickie and Melina are far better wrestler than her.

    fahkyooh Reply:

HOW THE HELL IS TRISH STRATUS OVERRATED? SHE HAD THE GREATEST WOMEN’S MATCHES IN THE HISTORY OF THE WWE! SHE WAS A FLAWLESS FACE AND AN EVEN MORE EPIC HEEL. SHE WAS HOT, DELIVERED AMAZING MATCHES, FLAWLESS ON THE MIC, GREAT ACTING SKILLS, ETC ETC. SHE WAS THE PERFECT PACKAGE AND BUSTED THE DOOR DOWN TO A NEW GOLDEN ERA OF WOMEN’S WRESTLING.

DEAL WITH IT. TRISH DID MORE THAN SUNNY IN 2 YEARS THAN SUNNY DID IN HER WHOLE CAREER. SABLE’S MATCHES WERE AOTRCIOUS. CHYNA WAS THE MOST OVERRATED WRESTLER OF ALL TIME. DEAL WITH IT!

    Spike7000 Reply:

McCool was overated yet people want to clamor over her like she’s some type of god. Sure McCool worked hard but the only reason she got big amount of spotlight was because of her relationship with the Undertaker plus the fact they knew she was not over so they put Layla with her and started the LayCool thing to cover her weakness. McCool was average at best

    dsan Reply:

The fact that you all are still on Michelle’s ass on a post about Trish Stratus makes her worthy of being in the HOF. Love or hate her, she made history various time, remains controversial, and was the top girl for 2 years. I could go on and on, but you all won’t change your minds. So just live with Michelle McCool being one of WWE’s golden girls.

    GrrMonster Reply:

That is if she still with Taker of course.

  6. Virginia Devereux

The most deserving! Not to mention, she’ll become the youngest inductee in wrestling history, a record the formerly belonged to Sunny. Yet another record she’ll hold.

    perceval Reply:

Considering the last year, that’s almost reason enough to induct her, now. :)

Great to see, though. Hopefully, Lita or Sable, next year.

  7. WWENattiefan

    Obviously well deserved

  8. ajfan83

Too soon, but WWE was obviously going to induct her while she was still young and beautiful. Plus it helps them move beyond the embarassment that Sunny has become. Lita would make the most sense to induct her, but since this is McMahon-land we’re talking about, expect Stephanie to do the honors.

    JD Sensations Reply:

I don’t understand how it can be “too soon” for anyone to be inducted, if they made a big enough impact, it’s never too soon.

    ajfan83 Reply:

She’s not even 40 yet and could still wrestle if she wanted to. It just seems to me if someone is young and walked away from the business, then there should be no rush to induct them. But I always knew WWE wasn’t going to wait until Trish was middle aged. She’s always been their golden diva so it makes sense they would want to induct her when she was still poster girl material. Impact is only about 50% of the reason they induct anyone.

    Virginia Devereux Reply:

Lita might make the most sense out of the women, but it might be a bit questionable for her to do it considering Trish gets this accolade first.

    Jinzo Reply:

I can understand the argument of it being too soon and other divas being more deserving to go ahead of her, but at the same time I don’t think it matters WHEN someone gets inducted. Hell, Drew Carey was inducted before Mick Foley does that make Drew more relevant than Foley?

    ajfan83 Reply:

I was just saying Trish is still young and could still go full time if she wanted to (it was rumored WWE was trying to resign her, wasn’t it?) So randomly inducting her in New York, where she has little history, doesn’t make much sense. They are mainly inducting her because of her image and, in my opinion, to help make up for the mistake of inducting Tammy Sytch when they did.

    BillyGP Reply:

Probably because NY/NJ is close to Toronto and there no telling when WWE going back to Canada (Toronto) for another Mania. Tehy are inducting her for what she done in the WWE. We know how you feel about Trish but just congratulate her.

  9. KaitlynLover<3

I´m so happy for her :D

And wow the attire that Trish is wearing on that picture looks really like the attires that Kailyn has been wearing!

    Nostalgia Reply:

Yea, I think the WWE is at least pushing for the divas ring gear to be different. 2010- most of 2012 everybody’s attire was similar. Lycra boy shorts and a a styled sports top. Now kaitlyn has the street fighter look, alicia has the studded leather attire, tamina has the suits, aksana has cat suits, and etc

    WOOT WOOT IM SO HAPPY

  11. adannaaa

Mick Foley, Bob Backlund, and maybe Trish Stratus. The hall of fame is off to a good start (:

  12. JD Sensations

Yay!! she definitely deserves it. Trish had done so much in the WWE in just 7 years. This is great news for Diva fans and for the Hall of Fame, it’s shaping up to be a great roster this year already (Trish, Foley, Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund)

I wonder who will induct her though. Jericho? Lita? Ron Hutchinson?

  13. Lita-Sault-666

She’s obviously going to be in the Hall of fame at some point, and having Lita induct her would be amazing, but Is it too early for her?
It’s awkward to judge really. On one hand she’s still young and could easily return full time if she wanted to, but on the other she has been retired for over 6years now & is the most decorated female competitor in WWE history. Or should Sable be inducted before Trish? Maybe Luna Vachon, Jacqueline or Ivory? I suppose you can fight for & against all night really.
She’s destined to be in the H.O.F at some point, so for whenever it happens, Congratulations to her! :)

  14. Too soon, molly , ivory, chyna, jacquline, sable, ect who we havent seen in YEARS would be a better fit, i mean damn we just seen trish a few months ago, maybe in about 5 – 10 years

    Virginia Devereux Reply:

It’s NOT supposed to be about who came first. It’s supposed to be about who had/has the MOST impact, influence, legacy, etc. The answer is Trish.

    HoustonHomewrecker Reply:

Sable opened that door for Trish and made the WWE more $

    Virginia Devereux Reply:

And Sunny opened that door for Sable? Does that mean Sunny is better than Sable? No.

And that is false. The Attitude Era collectively made more money because that was when wrestling was at its peak. Trish sold more merchandise than Sable.

    3xplicit Reply:

Thats not true, more then half of the male inductees havent made ANY memorable impact in wwe but yet still got inducted most of them i dont even kno & ive been a fan since 95. And sable was huge in her era, sunny & sable opened doors for the torrie wilsons , trish, candice, kell kelly’s ect. trish accomplished more during her era because wwe was high on her. but there are tons who were before her that deserve it too. She’s young & still active.

    Virginia Devereux Reply:

That’s why I said it’s “supposed” to be. It doesn’t matter who opened the door for whom. Trish had a better career. And all three had the careers they had because WWE was “high” on them. That’s not solely attached to Trish.

    Dayvid Reply:

Actually, sable made more of an impact than any diva i know of past or present. WCW were actually SCARED of sable when she was on TV because of the ratings she got.

Trish? More of a legacy in terms of success, of course. And deserving of a HOF spot somewhere down the line, without doubt. But Sable would probably be the best pick for this year.

And it’s a shame it seems like it might not happen.

    Virginia Devereux Reply:

Sable’s impact was merely a byproduct of wrestling being extremely popular. Switch her with any blonde bombshell during ’99 and you’d get the same effect.

Trish left her mark. Her legacy is bigger because every Diva wants to have her career. They all cite her as the person they look up to in the business.

    fahkyooh Reply:

What kind of impact did Sable make? By stripping down and having hair toss/snapmere matches with Jacqueline? What the hell did Sable do for women’s wrestling and women in general in the WWE other than push the T&A image more and more, all throughout her career, even during her comeback! You are delusional.

Trish Stratus has flawless feuds with Lita, Jazz, Victoria Molly, Mickie, etc. She helped evolve women’s wrestling and became the sole reason as to why women’s feuds and matches began to be taken more seriously by the WWE creators. She’s participated in huge tables tag matches, hardcore matches, street fights, etc. Trish Stratus took women’s wrestling to a whole new level. She RE-DEFINED what it means to be a “DIVA,” she BROKE down barriers and broke the stereotypes of beautiful women in wrestling, proving that you CAN be sexy and athletic, unlike Sable, who just pushed the sex and had no desire to help women and their image in wrestling. She just wanted a pay check.

    To “Fakhyouuh”

When did you start watching wrestling? Watching old tapes won’t do Sable justice. Watching her live and watching her being one of the most OVER superstars at that time. This was along with The Rock, Stone Cold and DX. And yet, Sable doesn’t get as much credit from people like you who state she was just T&A. And i can understand that.

But you must understand that there was NO actvie women’s champtionship until Sable. There was NO playboy until Sable (And, we’re talking from a business stand point, Playboy is mainstream. Sable went mainstream) She was the first ever official “Diva” Yes, her ring skills were not that great, but TBH neither were Trish’s. Yes, she improved, but even at her best she was never on a level with Molly Holly etc, technically speaking.

Also, regarding Trish’s feuds. Did you not SEE Sable’s feuds with Jackie and more importantly Luna? Clearly not, as i don’t think you watched wrestling back then (i could be wrong, but if you did, i don’t think you’d be saying the things you are) Her feud with Luna was probably more intense then any other female feud. The crowd LOVED it and massive kudos to both women imo. Luna deserves all the respect in the world too, imo.

You have a very narrow view of wrestling. You are clearly a huge Trish fan and have no respect for Sable. I can’t change that. But i won’t listen to someone who says Sable made no impact. The fact the women are called divas is DOWN to her. The fact women have a title belt after 1998 is DOWN to her. WCW were scared of when she was on TV because of the ratings she would pull in. Did Trish ever pull in these ratings. No. Simply put.. No. She didn’t.

I am a Trish Stratus fan. And i believe she deserves her spot in the HOF. But no, not before Sable. Or Miss Elizabeth and even perhaps Alundra. But to say Sable pushed sex and to defend Trish so highly is ridiculous. Do you understand how many swimsuit, lingerie or bra and panties matches Trish was in? The girl used her assets and was PUSHED as a sexy female who took of her clothes AND could wrestle too.

Sable? The same. She got in the ring, but was pushed as a sex object. Probably to a greater extent than Trish but i struggle to see the difference other than Trish was more of a natural athlete than Sable.

At the end of the day Sable was a money make for the business and one of the top, i’d say 5, stars the company had during her time. Trish was never a money maker to the extent Sable was.

Trish has more of a legacy, but Sable deserves a lot more respect than what you give her.

  17. Mr. Asstastic

    Too soon.

  18. ilovelita

It seems it’s still too soon because I think she has a lot still to give. But I guess since I saw her last year in 2006 when I started watching WWE as a teenager. I’m now starting too feel old and I’m not ready for her to be inducted, but still happy.

  19. Kessuki

Although she deserves a HOF ring, i do think wwe should have inducted other women before Trish, i.e. Luna, Madusa, Sable and Chyna. I just think Trish is still young and too early to be inducted but i’m pleased for her and i’d love to see Lita and Molly Holly induct her together.

    fahkyooh Reply:

The only one I agree with is Chyna.

  20. if it is true, I feel like she will disappear for a while. I feel like once WWE puts you in the Hall of Fame, it’s to close the chapter.0

It’s well deserved and i hope Lita inducts her. I also hope Lita gets inducted to the HOF next year.

  23. Gail-Trish-Brooke

Trish and Lita absolutely deserve to be inducted before Sable.
The only person that maybe should be inducted before Trish is Chyna. But that’s not happening.. for obvious reasons.

    Dayvid Reply:

are you serious? they deserve to be inducted before Sable?

Ok, based on the fact Trish would probably have never been hired if it wasn’t for WWE seeing how successful Sable was.

Trish deserves it. Lita does too. But Sable paved their way, so why would they deserve it BEFORE her?

    fahkyooh Reply:

Sable didn’t pave the way for Trish or Lita. She paved the way for the Diva Search girls, to push sex and be horrible wrestlers.

Sable had nothing to do with Trish OR Lita’s success. They both broke out as wrestlers, especially Trish, taking women’s wrestling to new heights with her hardcore feud with Victoria.

Sable was never a wrestler, she was nothing but a T&A gimmick throughout her whole career, with horrible women’s matches that did absolutely nothing for women’s wrestling but hold it back.

    Gail-Trish-Brooke Reply:

Thank you fahkyooh, you took the words right out of my mouth.

    Dayvid Reply:

    Hahahahaha. Really?

Firstly, i never mentioned Lita. But do you think it’s just a coincidence that in 1999 after Sable left they hired Trish a few months after? Based on their look, i’d say it’s probably not a coincidence.

Im not here to say Sable was more successful. Trish broke out of the mold and made her own legacy. But if it wasn’t for the success of Sable who coined the term “Diva” the WWE may never have tried to push women like Trish as a top baby face.

Even though Trish never got as much fan reaction as Sable (what woman did?) WCW was actually scared of Sable when she came on TV due to the pull she had. Look it up.

I’m stating facts here, Sable was the first “Diva” and if you don’t think she deserves a HOF spot, that’s crazy.

    GrrMonster Reply:

Honestly, Im a Lita mark, but Trish deserve this, i just think its a little to early.

    puppies Reply:

It goes both ways with both fanbases. Trish and Lita have really similar careers and they both achieved massive success so it’s guaranteed that they will always be compared, and therefore, the argument of “who’s better?” will always be debated.

  25. Getdownwithachola

Funny how when I hear the 3 words “Hall of Fame” the mental image I get in my mind is whole bunch old wrinkly men in suits. So its going to be weird seeing Trish there.
