Trish

Confirming reports that circulated online earlier today, the WWE revealed tonight on Raw their third inductee into the Class of 2013 for the Hall of Fame: Trish Stratus.

A seven-time WWE Women’s Champion, Trish becomes the sixth woman in history to be inducted into their Hall of Fame, joining the likes of The Fabulous Moolah, Sensational Sherri, Mae Young, Wendi Richter and Sunny.

Trish sent out a brief tweet following the announcement, saying: “Thank you @WWEUniverse #stratusfaction comes to @WWE #HOF2013 #honored.”

Check out the video package WWE aired confirming Trish’s induction on April 6th, 2013 at the Madison Square Garden in New York below:

I literally started tearing up. Lol. Congrats Trish. You deserve it. My first favorite diva ever!!

She absolutely deserves it… But not yet. WAY too early for her to be inducted right now.

Awesome congrats to Trish well deserved. Im so proud of her and happy.

  3. VelvetLoveFan

So happy and excited for Trish, well deserved and I don’t think anyone else is more deserving then her. Congrats to her!

I still don’t get how anyone can say its “too soon” for Trish. Lots of guys get inducted shortly after their career in WWE is done. I mean Flair got inducted the night before his last match even. Austin is already in. Seems silly to say its not time for Trish, esp since her last full-time run was nearly 7 years ago. I am happy she is in the Hall of Fame. Totally deserved and she’ll have an awesome speech.

I imagine Lita will get in soon too. Hopefully Madusa and Miss Elizabeth too down the road.

    GrrMonster Reply:

Maybe because most of the people that normally get inductee, they are like over age, and Trish is still young. That why some say that it’s to early.

    ajfan83 Reply:

Flair and Austin wrestled a lot longer than Trish and were a lot older when they retired. Their careers were a lot fuller and more important in the grand scheme of things. Let’s not pretend she had the longevity of Moolah or something. But Trish is in, so no point in complaining anymore. I wonder if any non-WWE hall of fame will ever induct her.

    Dave Muscarella Reply:

I still don’t see what age has to do with it. She only wrestled 7 years, and retired early. But, its not about how long she wrestled, but the importance she had in the time she did wrestle. Just because she’s not like middle aged shouldn’t matter at all.

I am just shocked ANYONE would complain about her being in. This is the right call for once.

    ajfan83 Reply:

Years put in should matter. People call wrestlers like Ultimate Warrior and Goldberg a flash in the pan but then they trip over themselves to praise Trish. But this is the WWE hall of fame we’re talking about, so I know it’s a joke. The real question will be if any HOFs not associated with WWE ever induct her. Like the Wrestling Observer. I doubt it.

    Virginia Devereux Reply:

No one should be complaining at all. So many pressed wrestling fans. It’s amazing how many people waste their energy trying to be negative when their complaining will change absolutely nothing.

    So happy for her!

    BillyGP Reply:

Get over yourself be happy for once about Trish. Just say congrats about her induction. Im sure non WWE HOF will too down the line.

    ajfan83 Reply:

Someone asked why people think she’s going in too soon. I answered it. Simple as that.

    Wolverine Reply:

You keep asking if any other hall of fame like the wrestling observer would induct her because the WWE hall of fame is a joke,REALLY? Who care if any other hall of fame does, the one that matters in this industry inducted her and that’s what anybody cares about

    ajfan83 Reply:

My point was the WWE would obviously induct Trish, since it was the only company she ever worked for and they bred her to be a star practically from day one. Believe it or not, wrestling exists outside of WWE, and there are certain halls that have more credibility because they aren’t just biased towards WWE wrestlers. She didn’t have much impact on the industry. Just the diva division. I wouldn’t expect Lita or Sable to get inducted in these halls either.

    Wolverine Reply:

@AJFAN83 So why then is it bothering you? WWE inducts people that have contributed to the wrestling world but more importantly people that have made impact for them. Its a WWE hall of fame so it shouldnt bother you that someone that made alot of impact for them in a division that is dying was inducted into the Hall of Fame. And beside, from what you are saying,Those other hall of fames wont induct people like Shawn Michaels,Stone Cold Steve Austin,The Undertaker heck Vince McMahon because they have always worked for the WWE right?

    DanGM Reply:

Agree with you… too soon for her.. what about Sable, Chyna, Jacqueline, Ivory and Lita…

    ajfan83 Reply:

    @Wolverine

Those other halls did induct those guys. The thing is, those male superstars were far bigger than Trish and also wrestled a lot longer than her. Outside of McMahon, they also worked for other promotions in their career, but that’s not the point. I’m saying Trish’s 6 year WWE career is not as big as you are making it sound. She was a big fish in a very small pond. I don’t see how she gets in any other HOF that judges stuff like star power, drawing ability and longevity.

    jomo4life Reply:

Lita debuted in the WWE only a month earlier than Trish

Oh, how time flies. I got chills. I can’t believe we’re at the point where we’re inducting her already. :) I’m going to rewatch that a lot. I can’t wait for her induction omg!!!

  6. SherriShepherdWWE

WOW i am so happy for trish, a true Hall of Fame at heart and she gave everything to us fans every time she stepped through the curtain, and gave it everything, she is the everything a diva should want to be, strong, beautiful, athletic, the drive to compete, but mainly the HEART

watching that induction video brought me to tears, it really takes us through her whole journey, it was very touching, hearing Austin, Jim Ross calling the matches, her talking, it was one of those moments were your like WOW, she is really the real deal!!!

  7. Lily

I’m so happy for this and her! I would love to see Lita induct her. I think the last time they were on-screen together was a RAW reunion several years ago.

and i hope Lita also has her moment, next year!

    k2evecrew Reply:

I wanna see lita get inducted too they may alittle longer than next year though

    perceval Reply:

I’m figuring next year for either Lita or Sable, with the other the year after that.

    litafan2000 Reply:

I think they would induct Lita before Sable. I’m assuming they are going to a Diva every year for the Hall of Fame so my guess is Lita will be inducted next year.

  8. k2evecrew

I may not be her biggest fan but I have to admit she deserves this award .she’s one of the few divas from the attitude era to make repeated appearances after retiring , she started off as a model & ended up being one of the best workers in the business u have to admire that. Thank you for everything you did for women’s wrestling trish & congrats !

  9. TorrieStacyCandice

The Greatest Diva Of All Time!

  10. Johnyfaction3

I really hope Lita inducts her. I would die! And I believe this makes her the youngest inductee. Since Edge got in at 38 and Trish is only 37.

    •ObsessedWithHim•<3 Reply:

It would’ve been awesome if Lita is also inducted this year, then Trish and Lita could induct each other. That would’ve been one of the most awesome things I’ve EVER seen! ^__^

Wow what a video! She deserves it! She was a model but her hardwork turned her into an amazing wrestler and entertainer. Maybe next year Lita will be inducted too.

  12. Johnyfaction3

What if Lita is announced too???? omg!

I just rewatched the last Trish match with her and Lita, and wow, i didnt realize back then how special it was, but rewatching, i realized it was moment, in women division history,

the commercial promo that aired in the weeks and days before the PPV was moving and powerful
the Tribute to Trish before the match, was just as amazing and emotional as the HOF video
the fans chanting thank you Trish, thank you trish
the energy Trish and Lita both put into it and made it special
Jim ross calling it, pretty much like her would a Stone cold match, everything in him and him saying she will be a Hall of Famer
the crowds reaction, they were so into it
    good 12 min match
trish using the sharp shooter, the crowd literally went nuts LOL
    LIlian crying at the end
the crowd chanting, it was amazing and touching

everyone should go rewatch them the commerical for it and the match

I remember when I saw Trish legit wrestle after she had her injury I believe. I was super impressed! Then she kept getting better and better. She deserves this and I congratulate her!

I am so happy, I have been following since the beginning, and have been with her ever since. So proud and happy, good job WWE. She is so deserving.

With her Hall of Fame status Trish could easily put over any diva she fueds with over as a star!

    k2evecrew Reply:

I kinda wish she or lita would come back & steal the belt off a kaitlyn like how the rock did punk , it would help her get over more as a face & she’d have experience with a veteran

    09DHK Reply:

Trish would put Nattie over quicker than the average person can blink. She’s stated in the past that Nattie is her dream opponent, and that WWE needs to use her more.

    ballplayer10123 Reply:

I agree, wish she would do it soon. The division needs a jump start now that Eve has departed. Not to say that Kaitlyn or AJ (or whoever gets pushed for that matter) are incapable of giving the division a spark, or even that Eve was a legend. Eve was really starting to come into her own and become a fixture the division could center around in and out of the ring during 2012. The division could certainly have benefitted from Eve being around for another year or two, during which Eve could have become an all time great.

Back on topic, if Trish would come back and pass the torch to Kaitlyn or AJ it could benefit the divison greatly. Then the division can be centered around a few stars, when other girls get wins over those stars it will actuall mean something, as it used to.

    Spike7000 Reply:

Stop, Eve is not a legend, don’t overate her

    ballplayer10123 Reply:

Agreed. I said Eve was NOT a legend. Eve had a decent end of 2011 (Vengeance and Survivor Series), and very good 2012. Eve was in some high profile storylines, and her program with Kaitlyn was pretty good. If Eve had continued to get a good run for several YEARS (storylines and matches) she could have moved toward Diva legend status. You never know true potential until wrestlers actually get some love from creative.

As it stands Eve is NOT a legend, NOT even close. Keep in mind this is wrestling, a memorable run of three or four years is all it takes to make a career. Especially Diva careers, whose are exponentially shorter than their male counterparts.

    BillyGP Reply:

my Dream Mania match for this year is AJ vs Trish or maybe Kaitlyn vs AJ vs Trish

    ballplayer10123 Reply:

Would be awesome if it were AJ vs Trish. I would definitely settle for either match you listed though.

    Dave Muscarella Reply:

Jillian Hall deserves it more than Trish Stratus? Really? You certainly are entitled to your opinion and all, but I would LOVE to hear your argument as to WHY she is more deserving cause I can’t think of a single reason.

Congratulations to Trish. Her former Division was represented poorly tonight with that Vegas nightmare, but good on her.

I grew up watching Trish and imitating the Stratusfear on my bed. Yelling at the TV like a crazy kid whenever Steven Richards cheated Trish out of a win. I’m so upset and angry that stupid fucking loser fans are ruining this huge moment for Trish and her fans.

SCREW YOU GUYS! THERE IS NO DIVA IN THE HISTORY OF SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT, PAST OR PRESENT, THAT DID WHAT TRISH DID. Lita was injured or managing half her career, women’s wrestling was nothing during Moolah’s days and even though Chyna deserves it, we all know the WWE will never nominate her.

EFF OFF, STOP COMPLAINING AND LET IT BE. TRISH REVOLUTIONIZED WOMEN’S ROLES IN WRESTLING. SHE MADE THEM WRESTLERS, FIGHTERS, GO OUT ON THEIR OWN AND BE IN FEUDS SURROUNDING A WOMEN’S BELT. LITA WAS FRICKING MANAGING THE HARDY’S AND TRULY WENT OUT ON HER OWN AFTER HER NECK INJURY, INTO A DIVISION THAT TRISH BUILT.

    Spike7000 Reply:

Just stop. Stratus wasn’t THE only woman to have a impact in roles of female wrestlers in professional wrestling

The Fabulous Moolah set a blue print for the women’s division we fans know today as the Divas. Moolah proved that she was equally tough as the male wrestlers plus breaking a bar where female wrestlers weren’t allowed to compete in the infamous Madison Square Guardan arena. Same thing with Mae Young

Sensational Sherri proved that she can also not just be a professional wrestler but can be a manager as well by using that wit as a wrestler to getting into it with the male wrestlers

There’s others like Wendi Richter, Judy Martin, Leilani Kai, Rockin’ Robin, Madusa and many more overall of the girls we knew and remember back in the day. Stratus brought a quality where hey you can be a wrestler but can look beautiful at the same time and Lita brought that daredevil attitude in pro wrestling

Some may have had more impact then others in the WWE Divas roster back in the day but each female talent had contributed equal impact

I thought that women’s wrestling during Moolah’s days was a big deal?

Trish was great and deserves this, but she didn’t invent women’s wrestling lol

    Raekon Reply:

This guy really can’t be serious cause he obviously forgot that Trish were managing A LOT herself and in her beginnings as also her first title reign, people like Ivory, Victoria, Jaqueline, Molly, Jazz had to carry her and put her over.

I don’t wanna take anything away from her and I think she deserves this.
However, she didn’t do everything herself or on her own, she just got A LOT of opportunities due to her connection with Vince that pushed her 24/7 and she run with them by doing the best out of everything she was given.

Other girls did the best out of what they were given aswell (mostly the ones I mentioned) but it wasn’t even a quarter of the amount Trish got to say the least.

    NY Pollard Reply:

Fahkyooh – I’m sorry but your comments are laughable. I can’t take you serious because everytime you have anything to say about Trish, you blatantly bash Lita to do so. Grow up please! This is ridiculous and so stupid. Ill say this much, I think they are both great and trish is the greater diva. i dont consider lita a diva myself. congrats to trish she deserves it.

    fahkyooh Reply:

Raekon you’re a tool. I love how people use the excuse that Ivory, Victoria, Jacqueline, Molly and Jazz had to “carry her” and “put her over.” HONEY, NEWSFLASH, IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO! You can throw Kelly Kelly in the ring with Natalya, you can throw Layla in the ring with Beth, but they STILL didn’t put on the matches that Trish was able to with her opponents. Even during those days, a Molly VS Jazz or Molly VS Jacqueline match was NOTHING compared to the matches Trish had with SAME Diva’s. She was fluent and flowed with all of her opponents, there was a STRONG chemistry there. DEAL WITH IT.

Look at Lita VS Jazz, Lita VS Victoria, Lita VS Molly, all flop. Look at Mickie vs Victoria – can’t touch Trish VS Victoria. Stop being a God damn tool and use your brain. You can’t “carry” someone who can’t hold their own in the ring. Like I said, it takes TWO to tango and Trish is extremely talented.

    NY Pollard Reply:

Lol. They didn’t flop, they were rivalries. I mean what do you expect? The fans to blow the roof off the arena and Lita turn into some Alien Diva who reaches the stars literally?! Seriously, you’re very deluded and your views are altered. I love Trish, but you give her a bad name. Stop commenting and overhyping before you make people start hating on her like AJFan is.

    Raekon Reply:

    @Fahkyooh
A tool is someone that is as stubborn and fanatic as yourself and you had proven it once again through your comments.

I have seen all these matches and a molly vs jazz match was definately 100 times better than a trish match with anyone in her beginnings.

The women you are putting down are the women that teached her in the first place and the women she already said herself she was grateful to have around cause she had no clue about wrestling.

I never said she didn’t improve or got better but she never reached their level and never will.

Check the match jaqueline and ivory vs jazz and molly holly in the sunday night heat and compare it with any trish match.

Alone the techinical ability of these 4 women couldn’t be touched by trish ever.

Yes Trish was/is talented and she deserves her spot in HOM.

If you were fair though, you would aknowledge that the main reason she got so big was because she was constantly used.

Always involved in storylines or pairings, lots of screentime others didnt got and alone the fact that she was 7 times a champion shows how much she got pushed in overall.

They tried a similar thing with michelle but they couldn’t deliver because the moveset restrictions, pg environment that didn’t allowed storylines like the ones the divas had in the attitude era and the fact that they wanted the divas to be more girly, took away everything that could had helped her to become more impactful than she was.

    With other words:
    - lack of time
    - lack of storylines
    - tons of restrictions

    ajfan83 Reply:

    @ Raekon

Michelle also had the personality of a cardboard cutout. That’s why she wasn’t over. Same reason wrestlers like Molly, Jazz and Jacqueline were never particularly popular, either. I’ve said a lot of negative things about Trish, but one thing she isn’t lacking is charisma. She knows how to get people’s attention. That’s why she’s such a polarizing figure, while nobody outside of wrestling forums really care about McCool at all.

    NY Pollard Reply:

    @Raekon – Preach!

@AJFan – McCool is one failed attempt, but don’t lump her with women like Ivory, Jackie, Molly, and the others. Just because McCool wasn’t as widely recognized as Trish, doesn’t mean everyone else falls under the same category. You’re an ignorant fool if that’s what you’re implying.

  21. Socrate

Why is it that everytime Trish gets her due folks gotta bring up Lita as a counterpoint? Calm down with that. Lita will be inducted one day and she will get her due also. She’s even started to be called up more for guest appearances like she was last year and the year before. No one is taking away from what Lita did but I’ll be honest, Trish’s prime lasted a lot more than Lita’s did. Lita had a more up and down career with the beginning being hot, but then suffering from injury, but then having a great comeback, but then that comeback not lasting as long and glorious as it should’ve thanks to injuries and the Edge/Matt Hardy scandal.

Congrats to Trish, but I personally think Sable should’ve been inducted before either Trish or Lita. Sable never gets her due though from anybody.

    Spike7000 Reply:

Because people just want to draw up a pointless ”debate”. Simple both were great and brought each their own great impact to Women’s Wrestling

Congrats Trish!! wooow i wonder what the possibiliy is that MELINA gets inducted in the future,, would love to see melina in the hall of fame lol you guys think its possible??

    Wolverine Reply:

    Possibly in 7-10 years time

  23. 09DHK

Eh, I kinda feel like Sable should’ve been inducted before her since WWE built Trish’s babyface persona around Sable, and she’s the TRUE original diva who opened the door for the likes of Trish. Not saying she doesn’t deserve to be inducted because she does, but they could’ve waited another two years or so. Who knows, maybe this will be the year they induct TWO women as opposed to one, so for people complaining about Lita, you never know.

  24. Spideywebby

I am so proud of her. I’ve followed her career throughout in the WWE, & i feel that she have strangely become a part of my family in a way, emotionally. It’s just like watching your elder sis getting successful & shine. I am happy for you Trish. :)

  25. ssilva872

I am so happy for her. <3

I still stand by her being in too soon [some others could have gone in before] but I am going to get over that and just be happy for her!

Lita better induct her though and Trish to induct Lita next year or the year after that..
