Beth Phoenix Itching to Return to the Ring?

Beth-Phoenix-wwe-31306808-642-722Will the Glamazon ever step foot in a WWE ring again?

The answer is maybe, according to Beth Phoenix herself, who recently took part in an interview with The Score’s Arda Ocal.

Beth, real name Elizabeth Kocianski, said, “I never wanted to be that person who said, I’ll never come back, I’m retired, I’m done and then in a couple of years get the itch. I haven’t said I’ll never ever be back because I don’t know what opportunity will come up that I’ll find to be really awesome.”

Since Beth’s release in October, Eve Torres has followed her out of the WWE. 2012 also saw the departure of Brie and Nikki Bella, Maxine and Kelly Kelly. Beth was asked if all of the departures were coincidental, or if there was more to what could be seen as an exodus of Divas.

She said, “I think it just timed out that way because lots of times with the girls there is a window of opportunity and a lot of the girls that left kind of came in at the same time. The women’s division there are so few of us, you can only see me wrestle Kelly so many times.”

In addition to discussing her own generation of Divas, Beth was asked why she considers soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus an icon.

Beth remarked, “Sometimes people like to remember the controversy, that’s what stands out, but I think I would rather look at the content of someone’s career. She always welcomed whatever kind of physicality that needed to take place in the ring. She was tough as nails, she never complained and worked for what she had and you have to respect that.”

Beth also gives her thoughts on WWE’s current roster of girls, including NXT, her career highlights and how her boyfriend Edge’s retirement has been helping her deal with leaving the WWE.

I hope Beth comes back, too. I want to see her in TNA and become the evil queen of the Knockouts Division!

    • Rhawk

I highly doubt that’ll happen. First of all, we have enough former divas in TNA as it is, we need fresh faces in there more than anything. And second, I see Beth as a WWE girl through and through so I doubt she’d jump ship to any of the other mainstream companies.

      • Getdownwithachola

You better bet your sweet ass TNA already contacted her.

  • xLitaFan4Everx

Aww, nice interview here. I’m glad Beth seems happy with her life and enjoying doing what she’s doing.
I love what she said about the NXT Divas. The future is bright and all the girls there have so much potential. They all stand out too. There’s something different about each of them. I’m excited about the future of the Divas division. :)
It would be nice to see her back in WWE somewhere down the line as well, I miss her.
Nice words about Trish as well. <3
    Cool interview. :)

One of my favorite quotes was, “The women’s division there are so few of us, you can only see me wrestle Kelly so many times”

This says so much so subtly

I think that she seen where her career and the divas division were headed & that may have helped her make the decision to leave. It’s a shame that she’s gone because she could’ve carried a lot of the other divas but then again wwe would’ve probably had her dancing with great Khali .

    • Bethinho

even if she was treated like crap most of the times(and in overall the division) she left in good terms but that doesn´t mean she wasn´t frustrated with the path the division was following, and that´s why she gave that subtile answer….until to day i remember that match where we could see her telling Kelly what to do..

  • Nostalgia

Actually I think she and the other girls realized, for the division overall, they needed to leave. Creative was being lazy, and the division had no focus. With the biggest stars gone in a year, they had to work hard and push others. If Kelly, Beth, The Bellas, etc were still here. Kaitlyn wouldn’t be champion, Tamina wouldn’t be a regular. And Naomi would’ve never got that opportunity at TLC

    • xX-Zoey-Sky-Xx

      I see your point there.

  • TheGamergirl22

I would like to see in in Shine to have a match with Jazz or Kharma then if WWE ever gets decent booking then she should come back

Also maybe a appearance in that KO taped ppv would like to see her team up with Gail Kim the the other former WWE female wrestlers,

Since TNA going on the road maybe get signed there (but she could belt the within a month.) Also Vince would be pissed she’s in good in terms with WWE.

Yeh I listened to the phone interview with Beth;nice to hear her voice after these months. She does appear to be very happy.I agree that she might not go to TNA but as someone said Never say never. Great interview with her and what I thought was funny was the question asked who’s the person that she like’s to watch on Raw ;her remark Santino, was little surprised as many who hear most likely were too.She had a lot of great stuff tosay. And that she now can heal up her back .That she did have back issues on the road. That it was time to leave. And that she is just waiting for the right opporunity and Who knows what that might be..!!

  • Raekon

Nice interview, I enjoyed it a lot! :)
Was great to hear Beth again and I hope that her team won the match. ^_^

  • charovnica

I hope she doesn’t tbh…I mean I wouldn’t mind, but I rather see new girls go at it and build something awesome. She brought good points tho…even she was bored of the none-stop overdoing of the Beth vs Kelly matches :D

  • Monkey Tennis

If she’s gonna go back somewhere, let’s hope it’s the promotion where she had her best matches… And that’s Shimmer.

  • wwesvrrocks101

I think she will return at the end of this year. or summer 2014.

    • TheGamergirl22

would be cool if she returned in Over the Limit which is in Buffalo, New York

hopefully Nattie gets a title shot or is the champion by then.

      • TheGamergirl22

Also it in October 6, so would be almost a year since she got fired, she should kick Vickie’s ass even if she turned face by then, also IDK why wikipedia says in Cleveland,Ohio, I hear a while back when they showed the 2013 ppv schedule it would be in Buffalo.

  • Getdownwithachola

Gotta be honest I would love to have her back in WWE down the line.

Can you imagine her vs Paige, Anya, Davina Rose and the rest of the NXT roster.

  • http://twitter.com/RyanRoman0 Ryan

I disliked Beth in WWE specially her later years not a fan of hers but I do think she is awesome
I think she would make a great addition to the Knokouts :)

  • Flawless

ah i miss her so much :’(

  • Bethinho

i would only like to see her returning if she was going to do something that she haven´t done before, like a feud with Kharma,Sara Del Rey or other talented wrestler.
seeing her to return and start doing the exact same thing again, being treated like she was,no thanks.
and TNA right now is far from being a perfect place for a women wrestler to be,Beth would only be the flavour of the month, being pushed a short period and then being lost in the mix…look at what happened to Sarita.

  • Kessuki

would love to see Beth return to independent wrestling and join one of the top promotions or i would not mind seeing her join TNA where i would love to see her wrestle in a cage match vs mickie james.

  • jim462

I would have thought Beth would ave gone to TNA for the lousey way they treated her at the edof her WWE contrac but I would like to see her back in the WWE as a strong Diva that they need

  • divaindemise

It was definitely her time when she left WWE and I think Beth herself recognises that. The division was disintegrating, slowly, and the new breed was being ushered in. Beth’s character had explored all it could. I’m a huge fan; she’s a great person and a worthy namesake to the lineage of women’s wrestling history in the WWE outside of the Trish/Lita period. What’s interesting now is that while I highly doubt we’ll ever see her surface in TNA, Beth has the opportunity to wrestle leisurely on the independent scene. Her name could bring a nice fan interest to little known promotions.
