People keep saying the division is at its lowest point when its not. Sure last was clusterfuck but we all expected that & it was only 1 week. Have you guys forgotten about the Eve/Kaitlyn feud?

    Spike7000 Reply:

    People just over exaggerate

    redsandman99 Reply:

I still maintain the lowest point was late 2011 and early 2012. Mid 2012 wasn’t really great for anyone other than AJ though but it did start getting better about mid August. Besides, it’s not like a crap segment has never happened before. Most likely they’ll just forget about it.

    redsandman99 Reply:

And that’s the recent lowest point. The real lowest point was the first half of 2005.

    shameronstar Reply:

wwe fired like half the roster during that time didn’t they?

    Spike7000 Reply:

    @shameronstar

You likely don’t know what happened or remember

    2004
    - Terri left in April to spend time with her daughter
    - Jacqueline was released in late June because of the typical creative has nothing reason while Sable left in August to spend time with her family (the fact she was also in a relationship with Brock Lesnar)
    - Gail Kim, Nidia, and Jazz were released in early November because the Diva Search and Model days was starting. Linda Miles (Shaniqua) was released in late November

    - 2005
Lita got injured at NY Revolution
Ivory got placed as a host for the international recap shows
    Molly left in April
Ivory, Dawn Marie, and Jackie Gayda were released in July in the 15-20 something person release
    Trish got injured

    redsandman99 Reply:

Jazz, Gail and Nidia had been all released by November of 2004 so they lost girls there. Lita went down with injury and then became had to turn heel because Matt Hardy aired the situation with her and Edge for the world. Trish then had to take time off in April due to back issues, leaving them without not only a champion but only one actual credible wrestler on Raw: Victoria.

The reason people say it’s at it’s lowest point is because it hasn’t been this irrelevant in a long time. Sure, they may still have some good talent but just having the talent doesn’t make it good.

How long has it been since the division has lacked this much credibility? Even during some of their worst times, they still had divas that were over whenever they were on TV, that people cared about, and that had a purpose. They no longer have that.

Eve was the last good thing the division had left. With her gone, Kaitlyn is the only somewhat relevant diva that’s actually competing in the division. Every other diva has spent the last 2 years jobbing every time they were on TV and that have never won the title. The fact is the division is in a slump. Even Layla and Natalya barely matter anymore, they don’t even get reactions anymore.

    fire_bird Reply:

I think WWE will need an anti-diva to get the division up and running again. Aj is cool, but her crazy gimmick is old now, and she’s busy playing valet, which she’s good at. But she wont make revolutions by being a valet, because she’s not Lita.

    I like Paige.

Hey!! Finally a Monday Night Raw post that isn’t .. Anyways!

Yes!! While raw was suffering a low point in 2005 Smackdown divas were strong!!
Only problem is that they weren’t an official division BUT they had more and better matches than Raw did.
Rookie Michelle McCool was getting her ass kicked by dawn and was kicking ass right back, Torrie was still posting few matches with Dawn which were actually their best ones! Then Melina’s long dominating year started: rivalries with Michelle brought intensity as she put McCool out via Snapshot
Booker T was beating the hell out of those idiots Mercury and Morrison, while Melina and Sharmelle went at it.
Then Christy Hemme and LOD vs MNM
Don’t forget Christy had enough balls to do the legion of doom explodin Melina into the mat. And finally Melina and Trish in November..

Smackdown Divas stepped up but were cut short as usual..
Also Jillian Hall and Kristal Marshall were showing the world how hot and awesome they were!! Seriously Jillian’s best matches were against Stacy and Kristal!! :)

Then in mid 2006 the unofficial official Smackdown Divas division started
Ashley Jill Kristal Michelle and Layla on the hunt for the belt
In 2007 Michelle v Melina was hinted but that position went to Candice Michelle

@fire_bird WWE has had several anti-Divas in the past few years with Beth, Natalya and even Victoria. And the division is still as irrelevant a ever. If anything those “anti-divas” have been used basically as enhancement talent to push and elevate WWE’s own Top Divas. I don’t see things being any different with Paige.

The only way WWE will care about the Diva division is if AJ wins the Divas title and forms a power couple with Dolph Ziggler as the World Heavweight champion. Otherwise, it’s the same result with a different face. So don’t bank on Paige being a savior because it ain’t happening.

    fire_bird Reply:

Yeah but did those women have the push they needed to be influential or to even have an impact? No. I personally thought Beth’s career with the WWE was less than what it could have been. They put Aj with the men because they know that gets them over. The last time WWE did that was with Lita and Trish 13 years ago. I don’t think Paige is the savior, but she already has a following. And they are going an interesting route with anti-diva Aj. Beth/Nattie/Victoria were never allowed to have an impact. Plus they weren’t very feminine. A true anti-diva is an alternative diva. Hell, Chyna wasn’t a diva until she had all that plastic surgery.

    gl83 Reply:

Daniel Bryan had a following too. However, prior to his Heel turn, the WWE crowd for the most part didn’t care about him at all. It didn’t matter that he was one of the best wrestlers around, the crowd had no reason to connect to him.

And Divas don’t even get much character depth themselves unless they go outside the division like AJ and Eve did. So there’s no guarantee that Paige will connect to the WWE crowd beyond a certain point. Especially when WWE waters down the Divas movesets so as not to outshine the men.

    gl83 Reply:

Besides with Divas such as Maxine, the Bellas, Kelly Kelly and Eve leaving in the past year or so. There’s not too many girls in WWE who you could classify as “Diva”(Barbies) anyway.

I think tonight we’ll either get a tag team match or a #1 contenders match. If its a tag I hope that Kaitlyn’s team wins & then Tamina attacks her partner after the match. If its a #1 contender match I want it to be a fatal 4 way with Natalya, Layla, Alicia, & Tamina.

  3. Slapavel

Hopefully we have a lengthy match!

    PUNK…STOP YA WHINING!

Tonight another WWE Hall of Famer will be announced. But thanks to ESPN.Com…some know who it is…and it is a long time coming for this inductee. The class with MISTER Bob Backlund, Mick Foley and Trish Stratus is strong. But this name will add to the strength.

    SherriShepherdWWE Reply:

i agree, i know it is always, very well deserved and i must say what a Hall of Fame group wow, all huge stars

    shameronstar Reply:

Yea, they’re not sparing any expense who this year’s hof!

    Spike7000 Reply:

Kamala and Sable have been strongly rumored

    SherriShepherdWWE Reply:

ya i know, i heard them both as well!!!!!!!!!, however, i cant seem to think WWE will inductee both Trish and Sable

    DJ8946 Reply:

I personally don’t think Sable shouldn’t be in the HOF but thats just me.

    redsandman99 Reply:

I’m not a fan of the thought of Sable going in either.

    Divaland1000xoxo Reply:

    why not sable ?

    redsandman99 Reply:

While Sable was obviously one of the most popular divas WWE ever had during her run in the Attitude Era ( I won’t begin to deny that), she bothers the crap out of me. People rate her in ring work like she was this fantastic wrestler (she wasn’t) and with the crap about her not taking bumps during matches (a slap to the face to the likes of Luna Vachon who had to bump their ass off to make her look like a million bucks) and her ego…I can’t find it in me to support her going into the HOF.

    jonboi Reply:

Does anyone know who it is that’s inducting trish yet? I read on a site that the person has been named but I can’t find who it is!!! Anyone??

    Kessuki Reply:

Redsandman99 i completely agree with every word you said. i hate the way sable behaved and refused to show up with the belt when she had to drop the belt once to luna. if anything luna deserves to be inducted 5 times before sable does.

And I can also tell you this legend was my grandfather’s (rest his soul) favorite wrestler. Growing up in an American-Italian household and as a grandson of an Italian immigrant, he would watch this legend Every Saturday night in the 1970′s on WOR-TV Channel 9 in New York (now the My Network affiliate WWOR).

    shameronstar Reply:

That reminds me how long has “PRO” wrestling been around anyway?

  13. DJ8946

I love Trish but did she get a nose job? I know she broke it but Im just asking because early in her career her nose was weirdly shaped & later in her career it looked different.
