WWE No Longer Paying for Sunny’s Rehab

sunny shootIt’s been public knowledge that the WWE has been financially supporting Hall of Famer Tammy “Sunny” Sytch during her stints in rehab. Now we’re learning — straight from the WWE itself — that this is no longer happening.

Sunny has been arrested six times since September 2012, the most recent arrest taking place in late January.

It seems that Sunny’s many relapses have been too much for WWE to take, and in an official statement to CagesideSeats.com, the Connecticut-based company has stated that it will no longer help the self-proclaimed “Original Diva”.

In the statement, the WWE said:

[box]“As part of the Former Talent Rehabilitation Program, WWE has sent Ms. Sytch to rehabilitation numerous times, with all costs covered by WWE. Unfortunately, Ms. Sytch has continued to make poor personal choices and is ultimately responsible for the consequences of these decisions. WWE has always provided rehabilitation at a certified treatment center; however, given Ms. Sytch’s inability to change her lifestyle and successfully complete treatment, WWE will no longer fund her rehabilitation.”[/box]

The WWE has previously covered Sytch’s costs through four trips to rehab, the latest stint starting last October.

Sunny recently took part in an interview with Kayfabe Commentaries and talked about WWE’s removal of support, her arrests, prison life and more. A trailer for the shoot interview can be seen below:

About time they stop supporting it.

  • SherriShepherdWWE

what does Sunny expect, for WWE to pick up her broken peices everytime she falls

take responsibility of your own life and fix your own mistakes, instead of waiting for everyone else to do it

such a shame ! its so sad to see a friend and one of my fave divas ever to fall into such bad times ! i truly hope Tammy can sort her self out ! she went from being on top of the world to the bottom of the pile ! i hate when i see news about her cause i get scared in case its very bad news . i talk to tammy alot on facebook but shes just never been the same since she left john so i hope she can sort her self out cant really blame wwe for not paying for her but they have gave others chance after chance as well ! aka scot hall ! wish her all the happeyness in the world and no need for hate guys

  • k2evecrew

She needs to get herself together. They were right to stop the treatments Sunny wont be able to get better unless she actually tries. I feel bad for her but at the same time she needs to take responsibility for her actions

  • charovnica

To be quite fair,I wouldn’t bet what she says is the truth. In the same little preview of her shoot interview she said she lied multiple times in other shoots and made up all kind of juicy stuff so she would come across more interesting.

Also…WWE gave her chances and inducted her into the HOF even though she was troubled, what more does she want? You can’t make the same damn mistakes and expect to be understood & supported every time.

    • J.D.C.D.

I agree. I caught that part too about where Tammy says she has lied in other shoot interviews to make things more saucy. I don’t know what is to be believed any more. Either way I wish these interviews would just stop. I realize her ways of making money are limited but this is just getting really sad. She should work with DDP.

Also I think the WWE should cut off Scott Hall as well from rehab.

      • SherriShepherdWWE

i agree as well, very well said, and i also saw where she said she lies in interviews all the time as well, so to me everything she has said or said she done is no longer credible in my eyes

and as far as Scott Hall, he recently told DDP, that he is dying, so by the looks of it, it wont be long

Looks like the horse didn’t want to drink out of the damn well. Or however the fuck that line goes.

Aw man.. I dislike sunny but wow
    :(
Still, I believe in tough love.

  • XtinaAguilera

They’ve tried to help her and she hasn’t helped herself. She needs to get herself together.

  • shannymac

She’s made it perfectly clear that she doesn’t take rehabilitation and sobriety seriously at all, so WWE has every right to stop supporting her financially.

I unfortunately have a few relatives who have dealt with addiction and/or legal issues, and I can tell you that recovery is a difficult process and there is no quick fix. A lot of people slip up on their journey and take a few steps backwards along the way. However, Sunny seems like she isn’t even trying. She goes to rehab for a bit but always leaves well before she is supposed to. Instead of focusing on her treatment, she focuses on posting messages on Facebook, doing interviews, and just generally getting attention. She never seems to truly understand the consequences of her actions or to take responsibility for herself. Until she can do that, she will never get better at all.

    About time

  • Spike7000

She said in that interview that WWE called her and told her they would no longer pay for her rehab after hearing what has happened to her so she asked why? since Scott Hall’ was also there and the WWE said his situation was more worse.

It’s sad to see her like that and I remember she was on a roll in 2011, getting back into Sunny after going through a lot of over the passing of Chris Candido, Hall of Fame, updating her look

    • ajfan83

I don’t think she was ever “on a roll”. She went on a crash diet to lose the weight for the hall of fame and get more bookings. By the end of the year she was back to her normal self.

Sunny is too old for this crap. She needs to really figure out what is her problem before its too late. We only got one life to live including her. Waste of Talent and Time.

  • carlos22

I am so trying hard to feel bad for her but it just makes me hate her more

  • ajfan83

I think Tammy is a horrible human being, but this is a joke. WWE continues to support Scott Hall and Jake Roberts, two men that have an even longer track record of drug abuse and law problems. This just further reinforces that WWE is a boys club, and in Hall’s case, all comes down to who your buddies are.

    • http://facebook.com/mykael.kennedy mykel1990

I think it also has to do with them not getting arrested like 5 times in a month and embarrassing the company.

  • Firewalker

I guess WWE doesn’t HAVE to continue paying for her trips to rehab. But, still, it comes across as quite harsh to essentially give up on an addict and someone who obviously has mental health issues. Does WWE even cover mental health problems? I remember they didn’t back when Kanyon seeked help from them.

    • divaindemise

It’s an issue worth addressing, as I’m sure the dark side of the industry or the pressure to survive within the toxic atmosphere of it, can be very detrimental to someone’s mental health. Especially, in Tammy’s case, if they were possibly fragile to begin with.

  • divaindemise

Okay. So I tried to promise myself not to indulge in Tammy’s latest attention-grabbing stunt (because, frankly, that’s all one can discern from her actions at this point) but alas, the magnetism of her trainwreck life pulled me in once more.

Let’s analyse Tammy’s offering here, then: she admits she’s compulsively lied in the past for the sake of sensationalising matters, which tells me that she’s less inclined to change and more intent on making a buck. As for the question of mental illness, I would definitely say Tammy exhibits signs of bipolar/borderline personality disorder, but we’ll leave that to the professional that eventually diagnoses her in lieu of another shoot video she’ll no doubt make.

Tammy Sytch’s credibility in wrestling commentary is beyond defunct. Here it seems that, yet again, she wants to depict herself as some flawed heroine. Problem is she doesn’t show, in my opinion, any genuine design to change her lifestyle. So for me, I can’t sympathise beyond the fundamental fact that Tammy is innately damaged. You can only drudge up so much recycled tragedy in your life for so long before the script becomes one dimensional. Yes, she’s had a volatile journey in the wrestling industry, but she lacks the self-awareness to realise that it would be in her best interest to sever ties with the business altogether. Tammy should go about living a life separate to the former glory days of Sunny. And all this gratuitous reporting and pandering to her troubles is pseudo-relevant. It’s just the same story in a ceaseless recycle; and again, now that Tammy has admitted to embellishment, I don’t understand why people would take her words to be anything other than from a complete fantasist.

The Scott Hall comment is probably the only interesting and truthful feature here. And it’s pretty laughable, the double standards. I do not disagree with the WWE cancelling their payments for her rehab, but do not agree with continued support of other recurring failed rehabbers either.

I hope the woman gets smacked silly with a reality check that not only punctures that ugly ego she has, but shoves her in the correct direction to move on with her life. For while I hate to be overtly cynical, Tammy’s getting a tad too old for these eternal do-over attempts.

I seriously just hate Sunny, pure hate! She is so useless, she never wrestled, she “managed” a mediocre tag team. She was basically just a model for WWE.com.
She is the most undeserving Hall Of Famer, which I wish, I would beg and plead for WWE to remove her. She isn’t the “Original Diva” she’s the “Original Slut”. The only reason she ever got anything in wrestling was for lying on her back. It takes a lot for WWE not to help you anymore, look at Scott Hall, but when you run your mouth on someone trying to help you, you are just screwing yourself.

I hate to see someone go through such trouble, even if its someone I can’t stand, I hope she gets her head straightened out, but I don’t think it;s going to happen!!

  • http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/WWE_Divas/ art

She just needs to leave wrestling like i think shes doing & get it together…leave that ex of her’s alone & take care of herself or she’ll end up in prison….

  • jonboi

Gotta say I feel sorry for her after all the wwe hasn’t stopped paying for scott halls rehab!!! When he goes

  • http://twitter.com/DirrtySexyFunny Little Red

    Good.

I will always love Sunny the character, but Tammy Sytch the person really needs help.

  • Kessuki

firstly, i dont know whether to believe any of what she said in that short clip, when the interviewer asked her to tell him something about herself to sell herself as a likeable person, i bet she lied right there as i personally cant think of a single damn thing and i dont think the majority on this site can either. she has no talent whatsoever – none.

She has been flawed for a long time and with Tammy Sytch I think it is a case of her multiple arrests for breaching restraining orders and assaulting her ex, and in such a small period of time, that seems to have tested the patience of the WWE. Scott probably got addicted to booze and drugs because of all the pain he went through from wrestling, tammy has never wrestled a match so the drugs came because she made bad choices but i sincerely hope she gets help because she has no wwe onside anymore.

  • http://Knoxvillehaha Knoxvillehaha

I think it’s kinda unfair that the WWE would just cut stop paying four her treatment, but continue to pay for other wrestlers that have failed treatment multiple times (Scott Hall), but I understand where they’re coming from considering Scott Hall didn’t talk shit about them in shoot interviews every time he got the opportunity.

Sunny took rehab as a complete joke and shouldn’t moan and bitch when her privileges get taken away. I have no sympathy for her at all.

  • jonboi

Me I’d like to think that this is her time to stay clean and by being honest about everything she is trying to get all the negativity out of her so I say good for u tammy its not about how many times she’s had rehab its about THAT ONE time she stays clean & strong I hope this is your time tammy fck all the negative people in your life & don’t go online to read about yourself as you will just get depressed stay strong & good luck xx

  • Blacklighter05

Tammy Sytch is an addict and so long as she chooses to not acknowledge her personal misgivings, she will remain an addict. She needs to admit to herself that all the problems she has in her life are of her own doing and the only way to remedy the situation is to change, but she needs to WANT to change and not change for someone else. This woman needs more than just rehab, she needs a SERIOUS round of psychological treatment with someone who can deflate her ego enough to really get to her. I remember there was a time where she was basically throwing shit at the current crop of Divas and I didnt appreciate it because the current crop are doing a lot more than she ever did, even Kelly Kelly did more than her.
