Women Superstars Uncensored star Alicia, who was the company’s very first champion, has severed ties with the company and expressed her frustration at the direction of the promotion following its change in management (the company was sold by original owner Sean McCaffrey after five years to Beyond Wrestling’s owners).
Alicia sent out a flurry of tweets declaring that the promotion is in “decline” and also claims other WSU regulars have followed her in leaving the company.
The drama seems to stem from WSU responding to a fan on Twitter saying, “Not happening”, when suggesting Alicia should be on the promotion’s upcoming show.
Alicia wrote:
If you know me..you know i’m not afraid to say what I think. And on this issue i’ve been quiet for too long….. Funny how companies I gave blood, sweat, and tears for go under new management and all of a sudden the promoters don’t know how to act. Since 2007 I was ride or die for WSU.. First ever WSU champion, The first woman to hold every championship, Wrestling 7 times in 100 degrees. And I did every single thing for my love of the company and it’s fans. WSU was at the top of it’s game, bringing the best talent in from all over the country and putting on one hell of a show. Now look at it.. Less than 6 months after it’s been sold WSU goes from top female talent with 15+ shows a year to TWO intergender shows with 1/2 the roster. No more iPPV because they can’t work the “kinks” out? No more on the road? Getting rid of girls that charge more than $25? This is progress? I remember when WSU was a force now they run twice a year with no gimmick shows like an anniversary show or HOF. It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach how WSU has turned the corner and it is NOT from lack of effort from the girls (some of the best). It’s decline is completely based on a promoter that doesn’t understand what the WSU fans and wrestlers all loved. And it’s a damn shame. Get prepared for the unprofessional tweets from @WSUWrestling bashing me and anyone else who isn’t with their new “movement”. But I want each and every one of you to know I love and appreciate ALL of your support!!!!! WSU gave me the BEST fans in the whole world. It was an amazing run with WSU from 2007 – 2012 but i’m out.
In later tweets, Alicia also claimed that other WSU stars including Brittney Savage, Rain and Leva Bates have also left the promotion.
The former WSU Champion appeared to hint that former WSU owner Sean McCaffrey may be starting up a new promotion, claiming that his “no compete clause ends in 4 months”.
At this time, WSU has yet to respond to Alicia’s open letter.

Let’s be honest here.
Most of the girls that have left/not being booked anymore were some of the worst on the roster. Jana/JCruz/Amy Lee. Whereas Alicia & Brittany Savage were The Mic’s ‘girls’, so I’m not suprised that they aren’t being booked again.
They’ve been ‘replaced’ by Christina Von Eerie, CherryBomb, Neveah, Kimber Lee
& Addy Starr amongst others. I know which roster i prefer!

But WSU had those girls from before along with other indy stars on its roster. It seems like the roster has gotten smaller in a short period of time.
I agree with what Alicia mentioned about how they used to do a lot of shows.

And WSU under Mic had the perfect setup. Yeah Amy Lee may not be Billy Robinson, but you got profanely Entertaining promos and Her brawls with Kong Savage and Angel Orsini were some great stuff. WSU was “Dare to be different” and although the tail end of the “Mic Era WSU” was dwindling (ie J-Cup WSU Title Hot Potato) 2008-2011 WSU Was WSU at the top of their game.

Exactly. Plus, they had talent like Jazz, Serena, ODB for a show, Angel Orsini, Portia Perez, and many other competed during that time.

Alicia’s in the wrong here. Drew Cordiero is a better judge of talent, and obviously decided that Alicia wasn’t good enough for where he wanted to take the promotion, and she has decided to bitch about it. If you see his track record with Beyond Wrestling, and some of the talent that has emerged from there, he wants WSU to be the female version of that, bringing through new talented female workers, whilst highlighting certain North American stars like Havok, Martinez and LuFisto. I’d rather have that over some bimbos and embarrassing talent that SHIMMER wouldn’t touch with a 1,000ft pole.

I disagree,
Turning Mercedes Heel and mirroring the NCW-FF Angle was a bad idea. Who is now your established Veteran Babyface for WSU now that Alicia and Savage have left the ship? There is none now. Even if Mercedes became the Mid Card Vet babyface to help the younger stars and even turn heel down the line in that area (maybe to help Elevate Marti Belle to the next level for example as Marti is in that realm that Savage was in when it come to young stars), that would be useful for her and for the Old School WSU supporters there’s something to hang your hat on.
Furthermore the MM/LuFi feud was WSU Vs NCW-FF with each participant having a Home Field (LuFisto was NCW-FF, Mercedes was WSU). Now it’s Mercedes a heel both places and Lufi/Kalamity are Babyfaces both places and it just doesn’t cut it and the post match was very VERY similar to when MM challenged Kalamity last year except switch Kalamity/LuFisto roles..
Lastly out of all the heel turns MM has done, all of them were “I’m Bad Now” and not real explained reasons. WSU should NOT follow them. This is a Promotion that MM carried on her back, a Title she gave credibility to, She would have to cut the Promo of All Heel promos to show her disgust of WSU and “the fans who betrayed her.” Chances are it will not be the latter and just be more of the same.

I agree with what you’re saying FunkyWeapon but the fact there are no Veteran Babyfaces now is perhaps a good thing. WSU is going in a slightly different direction now, and with some of the veterans such as Alicia and Brittney gone, new top stars can emerge and help lead the company in this new direction. Besides, no disrespect to any of the departing girls, but they have all been in the top level of the division a LOT, and to see new faces in the main event scene will definitely freshen things up. There’s only so many times people want to see Alicia and Co. vs Midwest Militia.

Alicia and Mercedes both helped Britney become a Top Star in WSU. I remember a year ago saying Jessicka Havok Vs Brittney Savage should main Event for the Title in 2013.

Sounds like this has been simmering for a while and the tweet was the last straw (it could have been a little more diplomatic to be honest)….that being said, it’s a new ownership, and they have a different philosophy as to how they want to run the promotion.

I don’t mind them losing some of the talent, although they were a big women’s promotion and had some of the best talent in women’s wrestling, they also had some absolutely terrible wrestlers, who they kept using. It is defiantly a shame to here the talent leaving, especially Brittney, Rain and Alicia, that was there home in wrestling.

The last WSU sounded like the ONLY good WSU event to ever take place in the company’s history.
They’ve added girls like Christina Von Eerie, Athena, Lufisto, Kalamity and at the same time are utilizing new and decent talent like Veda Scott and Jessie Brooks. And still use the greats like Mercedes and Havok.
The former WSU roster had a few good talent and then a BUNCH of horrible shit wrestlers that made Kelly Kelly look like Davey Richards.
Alicia wasn’t bad in the ring, but she also wasn’t really overwhelmingly great by any means. The only talent I’d be sad to see go are Rain (but she’s also doing SHINE each month so at least she has that) and Leva Bates (while she’s still very green, she’s growing as a wrestler and her gimmick is awesome…but she also gets booked in SHINE and SHIMMER regularly).
I am glad to see Amy Lee not there. She’s one of the worst ever.

Yeah the previous WSU was awesome and kicked ass but they also had awful wrestlers who were just plucked off the street, i mean Sunny was a former WSU Champion if that’s any indication to their bad wrestlers and booking.
Still, they had an amazing roster, with the likes of Jazz, Angel, Kong, Rain, Luna, Malia Hosaka and they offered something different from SHIMMER. They had bump filled hardcore matches, 70 minute bouts and the Uncensored Rumble. Things like that set them apart from the other women’s promotions, but now they are just like any other.

WSU had bad talent but they had great moments that made them stand out. I don’t want them to try and become SHIMMER 2.0

The first year had it’s major Faux Pas (ie Tammy Sytch getting the belt from Alicia, Lacey Von Erich etc) It had to foundation itself and then when Ray Sager came in to help Mic in Late 08 also helped the company.

I’ve supported WSU for a while now and have no problem with the new management or fewer shows. I’m all about quality over quantity. Running a bunch of shows is nothing if only 3 out of 10 matches, per card, are remotely interesting or watchable. And the new talent being showcased has been a breath of fresh air. I respect Alicia as a wrestler but this rant did her no favors and just makes her look bitter.

Alicia, Savage, and Cruz were not great wrestlers. The two worst matches on the show in Oct were the TSA/Savage match and the main event with Alicia/Lexxus/JHav. I get they were loyal to WSU and had a long history, but when is the last time any of those 3 had a great match? WSU is only benefiting from dropping them off the roster. People like Veda Scott, Addy Starr, Saturyne, Nevaeh, Cherrybomb, CVE, etc are much, much better in terms of having good or great matches.
I get some people were fans of Alicia, but I was never one of them. There is a reason why Alicia isn’t booked all over the US like these other ones in the company are. I don’t agree with everything the new owners of WSU are doing, but compared to the last guy, its much better.

I don’t know what to really say about this. :(
It’s just saddens me to see the WSU goint downhill.
Two shows per year and these mixed?
Shouldn’t it be a female promotion and one of the top promotions in the USA?
Not surprising to see all the talent going towards SHINE.
I just wish that SHINE would do more shows than one per month so all these girls can be booked properly and regularly.
Their shows are great and they have the best female roster in the USA so far and I highly doubt the new WSU can top that by having two mixed shows per year in terms of female wrestling.
Most of all when even girls like Rain turned their back towards them.

I like the new WSU better since I care more about in-ring action so I’m happy the original WSU talent got replaced by Lufisto, Kalamity, CVE, Cherry Bomb, etc etc nothing can go wrong!
One thing I may know is we will no longer see ex Divas or Knockouts booked and that is a shame because honestly I enjoyed see them getting their ass kicked by WSU home talent lol.
And I’m sure I will miss Amy Lee she may not be good in the ring but her promos kicked ass many of you haters especially that lesbian chick (who called me a moron for standing up to Amy for being called fat & ugly) will be glad to see her gone mostly to how she disrespected AJ, what she said about Aj is by any means not true AT ALL and imo I believe Aj is better in the ring than her but that doesn’t mean you guys can call her fat & ugly and all these hurtful names that pisses me off.

Overal i think the “new” WSU has some improvements. But I also think Alicia has some good points, especially about them dropping the iPPVs. It was the iPPVs that made WSU more accessable to fans of womens wrestling, and was instrumental in getting them to where they are today.
It’s sad to see a great company go through these problems, but they still have a great roster, so i’m sure they will recover eventually. But for me SHINE has replaced WSU as the #2 promotion, and they basicly have all the relevant WSU talent on their roster as well.

Not sure I agree with Alicia, ok she was a standout in the “old” WSU for many years, but times move on and the new WSU owners have decided on a new direction most notably in establishing firmer realtions/deals with CZW and NCFF – must be good. This sees additions to the roster – CVE, Neveah and the NCFF girls. All of these are likely to benefit the new “WSU” Not sure I like “inter-gender” matches though.
Also the production values seem to have improved, certainly I recall watching some of the old WSU on DVD and struggling with the hall so dark.
As for Savage well I liked many of her WSU matches, but she is now based in Florida and wrestling for indy shows down there. Would it be worth WSU paying her transport costs?
Rain – when was she last a WSU regular?
Lets give the “new” WSU a chance, though I think they and PWS should get together to avoid the recent WSU/BLOW clash of dates. Not only did the clash impact on fans, but also potentially wrestlers having to chose which show to appear on. They need to step up as Shine has become a major, possibly the major all womens show given that they put on good shows on a monthly basis.
Its progress and sometimes there are some losers.

Oh and by the way for the last couple of years the number 1 in WSU was Jessica Havoc, with Allyson Kay also outstanding along with Martinez, they are still in WSU.

I really don’t know why everyone is so hung up about inter-gender matches. The old WSU had Rick Cataldo on a lot of their shows. And they had the King & Queens tournament every year too.
The new WSU had 3 Beyond vs WSU matches that were NOT on the main WSU Show back in October. They were part of the Beyond Wrestling taping. And those were very good matches and are on YouTube for FREE I might add.
They also had ONE inter-gender match on the last show that was labeled as a “Beyond Wrestling” showcase match. I really don’t understand the big uproar about that.
Also, if you upset about the iPPV situation, blame CZW. It was CZW who severed ties with their own iPPV provider which caused WSU to be forced to drop their iPPV for the last show. It was completely out of their hands.
