WWE are to host a Diva Search in Los Angeles, California this week according to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
The event, which is not open to the public, will feature “attractive, athletic young ladies” from various modelling agencies.
The report states that candidates being wrestling fans is a plus, but not essential.
It is currently unknown whether this is just a general scouting of potential developmental talent or if the search will transition to an official Diva Search television competition.
Thoughts: Whilst many will not be happy about this move, some of the best women on WWE’s roster over the past few years, like Michelle McCool, Layla, Eve Torres and Maryse, have all came from the Diva Search. All started with no wrestling experience and went on to become either outstanding competitors, highly entertaining characters or both. With the NXT Divas roster stacked as it is, I think a Diva Search show on the WWE Network would be a good idea, but only time will tell to see if the WWE Network ever gets off the ground and if in fact the Diva Search will return to our screens.

This could actually be okay. With the developmental roster being so good now a days I could totally see them bringing in models and actually training them to be legit. This might not be the worst thing to happen. Gotta think positive.

Part of me thinks why the WWE doesn’t pull from the indies because they want to build the wrestlers their mold. It stinks because they are missing lots of talented women. I’m really hopeful that the NXT training team and specifically Sara Del Rey can make these ladies into quality wrestlers and entertainers.

Baylee
Kaitlyn and Summer are also coming along nicely and Aksana is decent. The division at the moment is stacked with experience and the only girls in NXT without actual experience Anya and Charlotte (both with potential as well, mind you).

The only part of the divasearch I hate is that the challenges had absolutely nothing to do with an in ring ability or anything wrestling related at all. I don’t want sluts claiming to be divas,I want athletes.

Out of the 9 years, the only names that turned out into something were McCool, Layla, and Eve Torres. I couldn’t care less about this because of the track record of the entire trend because none did not really care about being in professional wrestling.
That’s fine if they are scouting those that have good knowledge of pro wrestling not just oh watching WWE now.

I wouldnt mind it if they went to fcw/nxt after winning to train instead of getting a main roster spot they dont deserve. Plus they also had a diva camp and tryout last weekend so i could see 1-2 indy girls signed from there. I dont mind if they sign a model. But if she has zero wrestling background make sure she is gorgeous and beautiful

Also keep in mind wwe doesn’t want real female wrestlers.. So obviously won’t hire the Indy chicks for sure
I prefer the NXThree Girls Aksana AJ Naomi Kate and Maxine (also including Angela Fong in that group)
But Michelle McCool Layla Maria Candice Eve Torres Maryse Kristal Marshall were some of their best female wrestlers and or brought in something good to us. But they all put in mad effort as well. Proud of all the ones I mentioned both NXT and diva search girls :)

Awesome Kong… That was perfection. Trust me I WANT some Indy girls hired.. Angelina Love would rock in WWE, Awesome Kong, Raisha Saeed, Roxxi… and so on. But look how long Indy girls lasted, buggy nova idk who she is but I know she’s an Indy girl and well didn’t last. Sara del Rey is just a trainer for the time.

This could be good. With SDR training all the newer divas I doubt we should have any problems with bad matches or botching .It could also help get the general fans interested in the division again. But on the other hand during the first diva search we seen a couple divas get released & I have a feeling that it could happen again with the less utilized divas ( Alicia &,Natalya) . And Layla has been around for 7 years which is really long in diva years. As long as they weed out the weaker ones during training & they don’t turn niaomi into a jobber I could see this going the right way.

Sara will be training whoever wins so don’t worry. & If the girl suck even though SDR is helping them they’ll probably will be released. etc; Dani( Idk if she really sucked or not but thats the only reason I can think of why they would release her).

Diva Search hasn’t made much an impact on wrestling, I mean some of the divas became decent, but none of them really made much of an impact in wrestling, Candice and Eve probably be the two that is most memorable, but eh.

WOW, two diva try outs in like 2 weeks, last week, WWE held a bunch of try outs with some indy women with Sara Del Rey and Bill Demot , as well as Ryan Kitz, who was there and he said there was about 4 or 5 girls that he could see doing really great things in WWE
so i guess we have some girls from every direction lol :)

The only reason I would watch that, is if they would have Sara on the screen aswell.
Otherwise they could do a behind the scenes and just pick the girls they think they have the most potential and be done with it.
Maybe a few good characters or good in ring competitors or full packages comes out of them, who knows?
It all comes down to talent and athletisism after all and not to how much experience one has in the ring or not.

It is not a “Diva Search”, they sent out a mass listing for Potential WWE Divas, in the listing they mentioned they’re planning on sending women into their developmental program. So basically they are meeting with women from Acting and Modeling agencies.

Someone should tell these girls that once they sign with WWE, most other entertainment industries won’t touch them. Wrestling, especially women’s wrestling, is considered a joke in respected entertainment fields. Good luck with a decent acting/modeling career after WWE, girls.

Let’s face it, none of the divas to pass through WWE had much of a future as an actress or model, anyway. None of them can act up to professional standards and while many of them have been sexy by wrestling standards, there are hundreds of thousands of girls in Los Angeles and Manhattan that blow pretty much every diva out of the water. I mean Stacy had the best potential to crossover thanks to the DWTS exposure, but nowadays people wouldn’t know she still existed if it wasn’t for her boyfriend bringing her with him to award shows.
So I don’t blame these also-rans for getting a little taste of fame while they can. But I do agree they are stupid to think it’s a stepping stone to bigger and better things. It hasn’t worked out for any of them.

I’ve seen AJ get more compliments for her looks than Melina,but you can disagree all you want. I wouldn’t have said anything about Melina’s looks except from all accounts she’s a lousy person so it’s kind of ugly on the inside, ugly on the outside. And I don’t buy that she’s still injured. Perhaps her attitude has made a lot of promoters shy away from using her. She’s not much of a draw, anyway.

There are many subsidiaries of what actually makes up the entertainment industry. There are respected parts of the industry, the irrelevant parts of the industry, and the trashy parts of the industry. No girl has cracked the mainstream of any respected part of the industry. Very true. Most divas would only really fit the “trashy” aspect, and the truth is there are younger, hotter girls already competing for those spots. Also the fact that being a WWE diva gets you no real mainstream exposure. Kelly got slapped on the cover of Maxim (while with WWE) and I bet you 99.9% of Americans wouldn’t be able to pick her out of a lineup. Chyna was the most famous diva of all time and the best she can do is second rate porn.
As far as Stacy goes, I think dating a movie star can only help you so much when you have zero talent and have a look that is not unique. She was arguably the best looking diva of all time but in Hollywood she doesn’t stand out. And the type of roles she could have landed are going to girls 5-10 years younger. If you’re only asset is being hot and you don’t make a splash by the time you are 30 then you have no chance.

Well I’ll say this, one it is a phenomenal accomplishment in the film industry to even reach a certain level. Trust, Stacy Keibler is sitting off very comfortably making her own money right now. Plenty of past divas are doing well for themselves, just because you do not see it doesn’t mean anything. I’m fairly certain, espacially Stacy, she is just fine.

I’m pretty sure when Stacy left she thought she was going to have a better career than showing up at partys and clubs and paying her way in to events just to get a few photographs snapped of her. She probably still makes a good living but her acting/modeling career fizzled out very quickly. It’s not so much that we are insulting her but simply pointing out that all the divas that leave to become “mainstream celebrities” fall on their faces. Being a WWE diva is the peak of their fame (although Stacy is probably more known for dating Clooney now).

What exactly is she doing? I understand being the arm piece of George Clooney comes with perks like free designer dresses, because the designers want celebrities and those accompanying the celebrities to tell the viewers watching at home just exactly who they’re wearing. It’s promoting the designer’s brand to millions, which is very smart. Is she being paid to do nothing? I doubt it. No one gives away money like that. If you can’t rationally visualize how the girls are making money, chances are they’re not making much.

She used to get paid 5-10 grand to show up at events as a “celebrity” guest. Since she’s been dating Clooney it’s up to 10-20 grand. If she gets 10 suckers to pay her that’s $200,000 a year, more than she made in WWE. Not the glamorous career she saw herself having but it’s a living. The fate of most divas that move to Hollywood, I’d imagine.

That right there is why all of you people giving WWE suggestions and talking about how so-and-so is going to “save” the division is wasting their time. WWE doesn’t even care that all their models quit. They just plug new ones in. Just get over the fact that the division is dead. The only hope a diva has is to get put in a non-wrestling role like AJ or Vickie.
