On this day in history:
February 23rd, 2004 | Trish Stratus had a challenge in front of her when she was placed in a match against Christian. Christian promised to do right by his friend Chris Jericho (Trish’s beau at the time) and “lay down for her” if she would do likewise for him after the show. Trish wasn’t interested in such a deal, and when match time came, Christian clotheslined her practically inside out and locked her in the Walls of Jericho long enough to injure her back. There appeared to be no love lost between the two, but we all know how that story ended..

What I didn’t understand was Victoria going from crazy to dancer gimmick… I used to think she was so crazy he THOUGHT she was a dancer haha but that wasn’t the case.. Hell a quick 4 second segment of Vctoria comming out of a doctors therapy room would of been enough for me
But the win was epic Moonsault to Widows Peak counter was sweet and ouch!!

I hated Victoria during her face run in 2004. I thought she tried too hard to court fan support – the new danceable theme music, the breakaway pants & shirt, the dance routine in her entrance, shaking her ass ad nauseum before doing a moonsault, she and Nidia spanking each other, … and no trace of “Psycho Woman”.

She started loosing a lot of muscle by then she didn’t look as toned or ripped. I thought she was hot with muscles but then idk bleh.. Not as attractive, then NOW the 40+ cougar I think she’s hotter than ever! Dat Ass Tara!!
She doesn’t have those muscles to pull off a psycho gimmick anymore, instead she looks kind of dumb.. So, I understand why ppl want the psycho bitch back, I just don’t see it working anymore because well she’s not an insane muscle freak beating up Poor little Trish Stratus.. She does great as the hard hitting ass kicking good guy though !!

The Fatal Four Way was so exciting, I loved it! The fans were solidly behind Lita, and I was really expecting her to get it so that Fabulous Widow’s Peak at the end was unexpected! I would have enjoyed it even more had it been a longer match, but I loved the emotional victory for Victoria. Also, I wonder when Richards and Victoria parted ways? Was it right after this match? I know later in the year he would come to her rescue, but I never understood what was going on there…?

Why is everyone complaining over the video choice? I like today’s day in history because it truly shows you how much the divas have been limited in this generation…not only a clothesline but a walls of Jericho applied to a woman for that long without a man coming out to save her? These are truly the old days.
Also it shows just a taste to all the Trish hater as to why this woman has left such a huge mark and is in the hall of fame. She was never just another pretty face…she could pack AND take a pretty mean punch.

I can think of several instances where it would have been logical for Lita to win her title back, but this was not one of them in my opinion. The Molly/Lita rivalry had run its course and Victoria had a slight storyline going with the Champion at this time. If anything, perhaps Lita should have won it at Survivor Series 03, although in a way, I’m glad they went with the non-obvious choice there.
As for Christian – Trish, I loved her heel turn, but not the explanation given. Perhaps it would have made more sense if Trish hadn’t been so brutalized by Christian here. I don’t know, it just didn’t add up other than being for pure shock value. It was a great twist, but the actual payoff was very underwhelming if you ask me. It gave us good moments with heel Trish, but the pairing of Trish and Christian was poorly executed in the end. They didn’t have much chemistry as Trish and Y2J did. I guess in the end, I would have not changed much since it gave us The Divas main event in Dec of that year.

I think I’ve already read this on the match’s video comments. Don’t you Lita marks doesn’t have anything better to say? Lita wasn’t even on the title picture for instance, Victoria was the one who won matches and pinned the champion at that time, so I don’t see the point where you are always like ”she’s the most popular, give the freakin’ win to her”. -_-

@JD _ It goes both ways. There are plenty of Trish “marks” who would react as if it’s a high penalty crime when Trish loses something or when she wasn’t involved in a more prominent storyline at times. I know you weren’t talking about me, because to me it made sense that Victoria won, because she was the one transitioning from heel to babyface at this time and had a storyline with Molly. The fanboy in me would have loved Lita to win everything as that same fanboy in me wanted Trish to win everything too, but I like that other women get highlighted too.
Well more about this Christian-Trish angle and speaking of Lita. I thought of something that would add a little more dimension to the story here. I would have had Lita attempt to rescue Trish here since they were known as best friends and allies arouund this time. Then later, Christian would call Trish on her cellphone to meet him at the hotel with Lita trying to convince Trish not to go, reminding her of what a CBL Christian was to Lita just weeks before and how this whole mess started. Trish tells Lita she wants this drama over and says she’ll be fine. She’ll call her if anything happens. The next week on RAW, Bischoff makes another match with Christian vs Lita and Trish. The women take a beating and are ultimately defeated.
After the Wrestlemania turn – we get an explanation as to why Trish turned not only on Jericho, but her best friend Lita. She tells Lita, that she’s a nosey bitch and that because of her, she had to take two beatings at the hands of Christian in order for her(and Christian’s) plan to go smoothly. Because Lita stuck her nose to help Trish, she had to pretend to do the same for the her in the handicap match against Christian and therefore get beat up even further. Trish says she was perfectly capable of defending herself against Molly and Gail months back and Lita will no longer use her to get close to her boyfriend Christian, she got the man that Lita couldn’t and she’s just a jealous bitch. This would happen in a matter of a couple of minutes on RAW prior to the Divas Battle Royale and explain why Lita and Trish suddenly turned on each other.

This was a great feud, and the Wrestlemania turn was so unexpected, especially after what Christian did to Trish here I never thought she’d side with him.
I wish we got more male vs female interactoon today, it was a great way for a heel to get heat, or a face to get a good reaction by hitting a heel Diva (as we saw from the Backlash handicap tag)

Beth and Kharma had interaction with the guys during their Royal Rumble appearances. Beth got a GTS from Punk after clotheslining him and nearly eliminating him and Kharma killed Dolph with an Implant Buster and threw Hunico halfway across the arena lol.

The thing is, Trish is awesome! She took a brutal ass kicking from a man who obviously enjoyed hitting, torturing and sexually harassing her during the match, followed to only betray the man defending her leaving everybody like WTF???!!
This was a great storyline back then I hated Trish for that haha but couldn’t help still not love her even then! :)
Also guys about Victoria and her win, psycho Victoria had been stalkin Molly even involving Test kicking the shit out of Victoria in the face, Victoria exploding the belt on Molly Hollys head, and many other vicious acts haha it was great leading to this, fwi Lita was kind of on a loosing streak..

U remember when Test turned on Steven Richards, he fought him to the best of his ability only to have Test crush Stevie, but then Victoria jumped in and kicked him in the balls… My god that echo still hurts me just thinking about it!! Victoria stood by her man haha when Jackie Gayda attacked Richards she destroyed and beat the living shit out if her ass lol!!
And Trish attacking test was freakin awesome even if she got beat up!! She did take on him one on one but man he literally overpowered her!! She crashed into his massive shoulder!!! :(

I miss these days back in the WWE. This brought back my childhood. If only WWE would bring in the Divas this way, WWE would become bigger with it’s Diva fans. And they’d have remarkable histories with the Divas. Just imagion if they used Natalya or Katlyn this way, it would be so much better.
