WWE Divas Alicia Fox and Natalya are used to jetting off around the world, but the girls are currently fighting in a different way to what they’re used to.
The former Divas Champions are visiting Rwanda as part of WWE’s relationship with the United Nations Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign, which will see the girls provide refugees with mosquito nets in order to fight malaria.
WWE are also working with the UNDP, which is helping ” to empower women who have experienced great hardships” – hence Alicia and Natalya’s participation in the charity initiative.
WWE.com is following the girls’ progress with a blog and the latest entry was posted today. It reads:
The hardships refugees face are unbelievable. There are about 65,000 refugees in Rwanda, most escaping fighting from the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. We couldn’t believe the very steep, uphill battle they face, even just to get to the safety of the camps in Rwanda. Malaria is one of the refugees’ biggest challenges. Only 60 percent of refugees in the country’s four camps have bed nets. That’s where the work of Nothing But Nets comes in. All of UNHCR’s goals for this year seem reachable, and we want to help them get there. The most shocking thing we learned today is how many children die from malaria, a disease that’s completely preventable. A child used to die every 30 seconds from malaria — now that figure is every 60 seconds. The work of Nothing But Nets has helped. But no child should die from a preventable disease. We want to make a real difference. Stay tuned to WWE.com to follow our journey through Rwanda.
Both Divas have also taken to Twitter to inform the fans of their progress, and Natalya noted how she was having fun with the locals as well as helping save lives.
Made some new friends today! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. #UN #nothingbutnets #rwanda #wwecares twitter.com/NatbyNature/st…

I love that they’re giving alicia the role of promoting the company & doing apperences. Maybe this will lead to a push like it did with eve & kelly.

this is cute & all good for wwe , but i hate the fact that they put wrestling LAST, wwe is TRYING so hard to take over other aspects outside of wrestling that they forgot where they came from. wwe doesn’t hire “wrestlers” anymore , they hire “spokes people” , people who just so happens to be athletes that travel the world for them & make them money by Representing their organizations. NOT their wrestling.

Bravo WWE! If you’re not using these gorgeous women in the ring, this is actually a worthy cause and something that will enrich them as people in good ways.

Well, they don’t use the divas with the best in-ring chemistry to give us a long and amazing feud around the Divas title, but instead they help, and that’s GOOD.
