Velvet Sky will be putting her Knockouts Title on the line against Gail Kim at TNA Lockdown.
On tonight’s Impact, Velvet defeated Tara to retain her title. Gail spoke on commentary, revealing that she would face the winner, and thus the Knockouts Champion, at the Pay-Per-View.
Velvet won the title on last week’s Impact in a Four-Way Elimination match, overcoming Tara, Gail and Brooke Tessmacher to become a two-time Knockouts Champion.
Lockdown takes place Sunday, March 10th.
Are you looking forward to this match?

Gail can’t even save this match for me. I hope it’s not as bad as it was on Lockdown last year. I would rather have Tara against Gail because we’d be getting a 5 star match instead of a 3 star match.

3 stars is being kind of generous honestly.

*sigh* I wish they still had Queen of the Cage.

Am I the only one who can’t understand what all the hype is surrounding Velvet Sky? I mean, nothing against the girl, but she’s been in the business for ten years now, and she’s as green as ever she was.

im just going to quit reading anything about the knockouts because the fans on here are annoying. Seriously shut the hell up.

You can’t expect everyone to like her just because you do.
The fact of the matter is, most hardcore wrestling fans don’t like Velvet. She gets pushed over girls like Gail, Mickie, and Tara who are 3 of the top female workers EVER in this business despite only being barely passable in the ring after 10 years. Brooke has been working not even HALF that time, and is already way about Velvet in terms of in ring skill.

3 women that all already had their time in the spotlight. Gail was champion for 9 months and we all seen how bad her reign was for the division (it cost 6 knockouts their jobs).
I’d rather have a champion with personality rather than someone like Gail Kim who held the title for 9 months and single handedly killed the division (and the careers of 6 knockouts in the process) because she has no personality and has to be carried through a decent feud. It’s a lot more painful to have a run like that because just having “good matches” isn’t good enough when everything else about you is boring.
What hardcore wrestling fans are you talking about btw? I only see a few internet marks complain about Velvet. I’ve never heard any crowd chant “you can’t wrestle” at her. Even smart crowds like Chicago and the UK cheer her over Gail Kim and Mickie James (and smart crowds always boo bad wrestlers and cheer internet favorites), that should tell you something.

@JINZO Ahhh I think the reason that knockouts were released was due to the fact creative were too stupid to think of any storylines for then & not because of Gail.
I’m a hardcore wrestling fan btw.

@Jinzo: Gail Kim has no power over who gets fired. None of the Knockouts do. You can blame the creative team for firing 6 talented girls. I’m sure Gail was probably upset about it too. She even said she wished she could’ve wrestled Sarita.

@JINZO Chicago will not cheer Velvet over Mickie James remember WM when Mickie was heel and got cheered what town was it? CHICAGO. But i see the point made

No They was cheering before the antics remember Mickie had a following in ROH which held lots of shows in Chicago. But yeah it not about Mickie it about how Gail out of NOWHERE get a shot.

@BillyGP The antics certainly helped the crowd be on her side. That and they seemed to be a pretty pro heel crowd. Carlito and Chris Masters were getting cheered in the first match. Mickie got even more noticeable ones and then the crowd was completely Triple H by the main event.

I did, but Mickie was over that one time in Chicago due to her psycho borderline lesbian character. They were also very pro-heel as mentioned above.

Last year when TNA was in the UK, Velvet had a match against Mickie James. Everyone knows Mickie is a great wrestler and she’s well respected by the fans. Plus, Mickie was the one getting the push for the Knockout title at the time. So you would think a smart crowd like the UK would be 100% behind Mickie right? No, they were actually chanting for Velvet Sky over Mickie.
BillyGP Reply:

AJFan Mickie was over before that match too hell she got a reaction her debut she had a indy following that knew who she was.
Jinzo Mickie was acting heelish also during the match but yes Velvet is popular too never said she wasnt.
at
I hope this focuses more on Taryn/Gail. Velvet isn’t interesting right now, but I’m sure that’s nothing a good feud with a heel psycho Mickie couldn’t fix (in my dreams).
at
Ooo, lets feed Gail to Velvet make her look strong. You’ve got Madison, Brooke, Gail, Mickie, and you shove Velvet down our throats
at
It would be nice if it was a triple threat in the cage, tara vs gail kim vs velvet sky but i guess you have to take what you can get.
at
is it going to be in a steel cage too? i dont think velvet can do a steel cage very well, gail however can do a cage match very well, she always does…and like you said before, too bad it isnt tara and gail in a steel cage..:)
at
I find the reactions here kinda unfair.
We all know that Velvet is not a in ring general but having the title always on mickie, gail and tara gets old aswell.
Velvets first reign was like “2 seconds” long so I think its only fair to let her have it for a while now while newer girls are getting introduced in the knockouts division in the process (the blossom twins, ivelisse, Lei D Tapa and so on).
When the title changes hands too fast, everyone says its a “hot potato” and complain, when one of the top female workers has it, “her reign is too long and everything is boring”.
No matter what they do people always find something to complain.
When Velvet came back most of you were “yay” and such and now that she got the title so someone “new” has it instead of the same girls over and over, you complain again. -_-
When you want change, you need to be able to accept change in the first place.
You want change but when a change comes you don’t want it.
Very contradicting to say the least.

I dont hate Velvet by any means BUT I hate what they have done to Tara. I hate how they maKe her not able to win without Jessie or doing some sort of underhanded tactic. She seriously needs to kick him to the curb. I want the dominate Tara back ASAP!
at
As far as the title match goes. I hope there roles reverse. Gail= face, Velvet sky = heel
at
Velvet is not a natural in the ring, we’ve been through that many times, but she’s got a passion a lot of other women don’t display for one reason or the other. She has grown on me. To me, she’s a modern day Sunny who wrestles, without the crazy personal stuff. The thing about Velvet is, she will benefit greatly as a heel than a babyface. Or even better than that, a tweener or antidiva. That would be the perfect role for her really.
at
Hopefully Gail will win so we can get a Gail/Madison feud once Madison’s back from her honeymoon. Since Mickie’s most likely promoting her album, ODB is practically out of the company, and Tara just came off the heels of a title reign, a Gail/Madison feud would be something refreshing despite the severe Knockouts drought. They had a hell of a match last year at Victory Road, and I think a feud between the two would help the division a great deal at least until they sign Ivelisse and other new blood.
at
Velvet may not have been a lengthy champion before but she as part of the Beautful People has been pushed more than anyone currently still on the roster
at
Don’t see Gail winning, however much I would like her too.
I can see Gail maybe being DQ’d? for attacking Taryn or something? Or Tayrn doing something to cost Gail the win again which leads to Gail attacking her, either way I don’t think it’ll be a straight forward match.

How in the hell does Gail get a title shot? Unless to set up further Taryn vs Gail.

Why would people want Gail to end Velvet’s title run abruptly again? She definitely deserves this lengthy title reign and the way she lost it was a slap in the face to her and homegrown talent. While she’s not great in the ring, Velvet is passionate, charismatic, and fun to watch. Hell, her TNA run in 2011 was amazing and people were rooting for her, but now it’s the total opposite? She definitely works better as a heel and I hope we get to see that soon. I’d have her feud with Mickie for the belt next.
Gail-Trish-Brooke Reply:

She didn’t even deserve the first reign, much less this one. So I would say her month as champ in 2011 was being more than generous. She can be as passionate as she wants to, kudos to her for that. But that amount of passion still isn’t enough to make up for her lack of in ring skills after being in the business for ten years. Especially when working with 3 of the top female workers to of ever been in this business.
BillyGP Reply:

Velvet not that bad in the ring yes she not great but she can go and is a good entertainer. You may have notice but being a champion don’t mean you got to be great in the ring. Was it fair for Gail to come right in the company and take both women title? No she should of worked her way up the ladder.
Gail-Trish-Brooke Reply:

Gail is the “Moolah” or “Trish” of the Knockouts division. She put this division on the map. She more than deserved to come back in and be placed at the top of the division. So yes it was fair. Gail has paid her dues in this business. She should have way more than 4 title reigns under belt by now, between 2 company’s.
at
I’d rather see velvet keep the title ,move on to some one else , and let Gail continue her feud with tayrn . Imo Gail’s last title reign was extremely boring & got stale after she kept beating everyone until she started feuding with Tessmacher. If anyone needs a title shot let it be someone that didnt hold it for a while like Mickie or Madison Rayne.

We have only 4 PPV,only 1 PPV where the women can have a match in a Steel Cage, and they are going to do the same match of the last year…
BillyGP Reply:

I believe only Lethal Lockdown and the Main Event are in cages this year.
at
Two ways I see this going down:
1. Gail wins the belt and we eventually get Taryn vs Gail for the title.
2. Taryn somehow costs Gail the match (or something happens that makes Gail say that) and the feud goes from there.
Either way, I’m still a thousand percent more interested in that than about anything Velvet will end up doing as champ.
at
I have one question for TNA, where oh where is the Queen of TNA, where is my Madison Ryane!?!?!?
at
Velvet to win. Its nothing against Gail because we all know shes probably the better wrestler out of the two of them, but shes already held the title for well over 9 months, Velvet has been part of the KOs division since day 1 and is due a lengthy title run.
at
I feel neither company has a real grasp on their division right now. We keep getting the same old stuff and while some of it’s good, none of it is at full sail. They are not realizing the full potential and neither seems interested in A) using all of their talent or B) bringing in new blood. I honestly feel that NXT is the best show right now, but the weird taping schedule sucks.
