Report: Eight Diva Tag Featuring Celeb Set for WrestleMania?
Love it or hate it, celebrity appearances at Wrestlemania have become somewhat of a tradition. This year, it looks like lightning will strike twice and the Divas match will feature a famous face, a familiar one at that.
In discussion is an Eight Diva Tag Team match featuring “Extra” host Maria Menounos, according to F4WOnline.
The report states that Maria will compete alongside Divas Champion Kaitlyn and the Funkadactyls, Cameron and Naomi. They will face the team of Brie and Nikki Bella, Layla and Tamina Snuka.
Layla teaming with the heels would seem to confirm the rumors that she is turning heel, having been getting under Kaitlyn’s skin on SmackDown in recent weeks.
This rumored match would mark Maria’s fourth in-ring appearance, her latest being a victorious effort at last year’s Wrestlemania, teaming with Kelly Kelly against Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres.

I love Maria Menounos, but with Beth Phoenix gone, there really is no reason to have her at WM29. That vacant spot could/should go to either Natalya or Paige. Plus, it makes the match predictable. I am, however, giddy that Layla will turn heel soon. I’ve been wanting that since last October, and the signs have been there for months.
If this match is made official, though, I’d definitely watch. I love seeing the Divas in action.

Seems like I was right too. The first plan was scrapped, so this was the only other option the WWE would likely pursue, because apparently Maria M. makes up for a team full of former Divas and one soon-to-be Hall of Famer. It’s still better than nothing.

I knew when i read celeb it would be the undefeated legend Maria Menonous…it’s hard to tell if she brings in PPV buys but I think WWE thinks she does.

I hope this isn’t true. There’s so many rumors going on about the divas match for this ppv that I’m taking too much stock into anything quite yet. Kaitlyn vs Layla, Bellas/Team Rhodes Scholars vs Naomi/Cameron/Tensai/Brodus, Bellas vs Naomi/Cameron and Naomi/Cameron/Kaitlyn vs Bellas/Layla have all been things I heard. I’ll take one of those before putting Maria back in the ring.

Like it or not, Snooki was a hot celeb a couple of years ago. She was part of a highly successful reality show, so in theory, her appearance in 211 was more relevant than Maria’s this year.

Well, WWE management holds Maria Menunos in high regard over any Diva. They once held Kaitlyn in high regard when she first came to NXT because of how fat she looked. They even held Cameron in high regard when she got busted last year.

I’d think Rhodes Scholars/Bellas vs Brodus/Tensai/Naomi/Cameron would make the most sense to me- looks like they’re keeping the options open for now as to what to do (thus the thing with Kaitlyn and the Bellas last night), but if they’re gonna turn Layla, it’d better be soon..

Number One, lack of personality? OK. Lack of skill? Are you blind? Michelle McCool is the only Diva Search girl EVER to TRULY become a REAL wrestler. Her skill in the ring was crazy. She was a VERY fast learner and very swift and clean in the ring. No sloppyness at all.

If they’re going with a big Divas tag match at WrestleMania, I’d much prefer for them to do an elimination Tag, including those mentioned along with Alicia Fox, Natalya and Rosa Mendes.
If they insist on having Maria at Mania’ please let her be used as a guest timekeeper or referee.
The girls deserve a WrestleMania match and for me, this would allow all Divas to be involved, while at the same time having a big celebrity name being involved in some form at the show.
