Last month, rumors surfaced that “Extra” host Maria Menounos would be inducting Bob Backlund into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the 2013 ceremony. According to more recent reports, though, a different Maria could be doing the honors: Maria Kanellis.
Will former WWE Diva be inducting the WWE legend? Not quite, according to Maria herself. She tweeted today:
I love Bob Backlund’s work but I am not inducting him into the Hall of Fame. I’m sure it will be an amazing show but I am not involved.

It looks like this was a matter of mistaken identity. Or, rather, a case of mistaken Marias.
No word yet from Maria M., but our guess it that she’s who the initial report intended to confirm as Backlund’s inductor.

I didn’t say Menounos was a good performer. I said she was more likeable than that Kanellis. There’s a reason why one of them hosts a mainstream talk show while the other one is stuck working indie wrestling shows.
