Today in History: Stephanie McMahon and Trish Stratus Team Up on Lita

On this day in history:

July 24th, 2000 | The brother/sister team of Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon went up against Lita and Big Show in what Shane dubbed “the first brother/sister match”. This quickly turned into a one-on-one affair between Stephanie and Lita, and Lita had the match well in hand before Trish Stratus interfered, taking out a strap and whipping Lita with it. A match was booked later that night that put that weapon to good use: Trish vs. Lita in a Strap match. Again, Lita was well on her way to victory when Stephanie showed up to return Trish’s favor, helping her win the match. Clearly, Lita had one enemy too many..

What are your memories of these moments?

Ahhhh 2 of my favourite ladies in the history of wrestling pairing up to take out that trashy Lita!

(I’m a major heel/bitch fan, never liked the hero!)

Stephanie & Trish in this era was most definitely my favourite run for both ladies. The bitch & the witch.

Ohhh my I loved lita so freaking much back then, I wanted steph & trish to get there asses handed to them In a huge silver plater by lita, the crowd loved all 3 at the time, no doubt lita was at her peak with the fans back then!

I wish Trish and Lita would have had more hardcore /gimmick matches against each other. Would have taken their feuds to whole new levels.

Ttish and T&A vs Team Xtreme in a table match would have tore down the place

These 3 all had chemistry with each other no matter who was against who or what the feud was! I think a triple threat situation would have been very entertaining!

The only thing, in my opinion, that redeemed the lack of refinement in Lita and Trish and Stephanie’s in-ring craft was the fundamental fact that the crowds ate up anything they did. But, truthfully, even the modern day botchy spot fests of Diva matches outrank these efforts in terms of ability. It makes me wonder if we’re too hard on the women at times, because what they lack in character is a complete reflection on the WWE’s neglect to the division.

And again, even with the lack of technical finesse, this was arguably my most favourite period in the WWE’s women’s division. Lita and Trish were two very fresh and bold characters, and Stephanie was a joy to hate. It’s a shame that the great essence of female characterisation in WWE has… well, in some regards, evaporated.

I have to agree. The most of the Divas now cud easily outshine the in ring effort that they were putting on at that point in time.

All three had chemistry among themselves.
    I really miss Lita.

    Lita was brilliant! She’s timeless.
