More on Brooke Hogan’s TNA Release; Why She Was Seen as a “Luxury”

Yesterday, news broke that TNA had released VP of the Knockouts division Brooke Hogan, and today we’re learning the reason behind the move.

PWInsider is reporting that the feeling backstage was that her role had run its course. The door is open for a return, depending on the circumstances.

Brooke’s father, Impact Wrestling General Manager Hulk Hogan, is said to have been in on the discussion and that – as far as they know – the parting was amicable.

At a time when TNA is releasing a number of in-ring talents – like Tara and Madison Rayne – it is said that her contract was seen by TNA as a “a luxury we can’t afford right now.” Brooke took no bumps, never wrestled and wasn’t much of a draw, so there was no logic in keeping her on board when money is tight.

The report stresses, though, that there was no obvious heat from the wrestlers towards Brooke.

Do you think TNA made the right decision?

TNA needs to sort it’s problems ASAP.The Knockouts must live!

  • DivaLicious

Exactly! Tna can’t afford somebody who just comes out to the ring in a tight dress looking sexy every week. And give us BAD mic skills.

You gotta be able to throw down in the ring for the fans. Tna should release SoCal Val next, I don’t see her really on TV as much either, so what is she there for?

    • Irish_fan

It’s a shame really. I think So Cal Val really does care about TNA but she isn’t a draw either. Brooke only got the job because of her Dad.

      • DivaLicious

Very true! Plus, brooke music career was not popping off either. So.. Which made her ask her dad for a job at tna.

        • Irish_fan

I forgot she actuallytried music. I think Brooke seems like a nice girl but she shouldn’t be in wrestling if she doesn’t care about it.

          • DivaLicious

That’s what I said when I first heard the news, that she is coming to Tna. She ” doesn’t care much about wrestling” if she did that would have been her first goal instead of a music career.

          • Irish_fan

Exactly. I’m just happy that she wasn’t too involved in the KOs division and she didn’t get active in the ring either so that’s good.

          • DivaLicious

If she would have took a step further, and got in the ring. It would have made the top 10 embarrassing moments of tna.

          • Irish_fan

They could have brought Jenna Morasca back and see who is the true queen of wrestling haha.

    • FOXY & FLAWLESS

I definitely agree about SoCal Val. What does she actually do in TNA?

      • Rebecca Blackett

She must do something backstage or something like that.

    • Matty Ryan

SoCal Val isn’t going anywhere, due to the fact that she has been there since they first went to the IMPACT! ZONE.

They would git rid of Hot Brooke, Taryn, and ODB, before Val & Christy.

  • xUltimateBarbie

Hopefully TNA sorts all this stuff together. I wouldn’t even be surprised if by 2014 we didn’t have a Knockouts roster or TNA.

  • Irish_fan

I expect a lot more roster cuts soon. It’s a shame. I wonder what TNA would be like now if Hogan never joined and slowly ruined it. I used to prefer TNA but I only watch the KOs now

  • Monkey Tennis

Yeah, I don’t think you need to be an ‘insider’ to see why Brooke was released. At the end of the day, it’s just common sense. Brooke wasn’t hired by TNA to fill a specific role – instead she was hired because of her Dad, and then a role had to be created for her.

And I don’t associate Brooke’s release with the recent diminishing of the Knockouts Division. Because aside from her fictional association with the KO Division (which was just another attempt to give her something to do), she was never really involved in any relevant way with the division and her absence won’t make any difference whatsoever.

    • jbrizzy

Exactly like I said. She was a waste of time and money

      • BorisG

Make Christy or SoCal Val Knockouts VP.

        • Matty Ryan

YES! They can have a Evening Gown match for it!

  • llele!

it’s funny how things changed a year or 2 ago people including me was saying the divas division is dying and knockouts was getting up there and now yea……seem like they switched opinions now still love Tna and total divas thou

  • OJ Von Erich

This is exactly as I anticipated! :)

  • HeidiMontagWWE

Poor brooke i wonder if she was a bit sad. Tna is going down Imo. But I may b wrong. I just hope if they do, sell tna vince could buy it. And own the wrestling world. Lol jk.

  • DONTGETSTUNG

its sad to think that tna is releasing all these great wrestlers because of money issues. hopefully we still have a knockouts roster after all this.

  • jbrizzy

Smart move TNA . Brooke will be fine. She is about to be a athletes wife. What almost every broad strives to be these days

  • Rebecca Blackett

They could fix their money problems and revamp the whole roster if they release Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.

  • LeaTHeartsWWE

Again, she didn’t do anything when she was in TNA anyways which but marry Bully Ray which was really low…..

    • Matty Ryan

I feel bad for anyone who has to be with Bully in an on-screen relationship.

TBH, when Brooke comes back I will find her less attractive due to the fact that she had to kiss him.

      • LeaTHeartsWWE

        Rofl exactly.

  • I dig CrayJ

Definately the right decision!Maybe if they release SoCal Val and Christy Hemme too they could have enough money to hire a knockout.

    • BorisG

SoCal yes, but Christy no! She is important part of TNA. Val has also been in TNA for many years, but Christy is way more important.

      • I dig CrayJ

I love Christy too but if with the money they save from her release they could hire a talented knockout or two,let that be it.

        • BorisG

I know, more talented women deserve the spot.

        • Matty Ryan

They wouldn’t hire a knockout, they would just try to afford some other washed-up has-been or some never was.

          • I dig CrayJ

You’re right! We would propably end up with a male MMA fighter!

    • Matty Ryan

Like I said somewhere else, they would get rid of ODB, Taryn, and Brooke, before Val & Christy.

      • I dig CrayJ

Matty,I LOVE YOU for saying ODB should go!TNA has actually 8 women under contract(Christy,SoCal Val,ODB,Velvet Sky,Brooke T. ,Taryn,Mickie and Gail). To me Christy , Val , ODB and Velvet should go home!

        • Matty Ryan

I never said ODB should go, I said that if it came down to it they would keep Val/Christy over ODB.

          • I dig CrayJ

            Ooops,ok then. xD

    • nismos69

Noo i like Christy, but i dont get what socal Val does anyway so just release her

  • BorisG

Why did they release Tara? Brooke should have been gone. Tara was hinting a face turn since Gail Kim attacked her, and right now Tessmacher is heel. Who wouldn’t like Tara vs Tessmacher feud, but switched roles, Tara as fan favorite, Brooke as a heel.

  • http://www.facebook.com/yuna.zoey Yuna Zoey

Ever notice that since TNA decided it’d be a good idea to do crossovers with Bellator MMA they’ve lost more money than gain?

    • Matty Ryan

Have you noticed that since Hogan & Bichoff walked in TNA has died.

      • http://www.facebook.com/yuna.zoey Yuna Zoey

Lol true haha. It’s become the Hogan & Bichoff show now.

  • http://gayken.tumblr.com/ Brandon Hawthorne

It probably spared Brooke Tessmacher her job, so, I like Brooke Hogan, but buh-bye.

  • SomebodyCallMyDaddy

No offense to Brooke but she was never needed

  • Matty Ryan

    YES!

Now TNA needs to get rid of Hogan & Eric, cause it was WAAY better before them.

  • The_Kisser_Of_82

What all you TNA Haters don’t realize is that Panda Energy or SpikeTV pays for Hulk Hogan’s and Eric Bischoff and Spike and Bellator pays Tito Ortiz, King Mo, n Rampage’s contracts w/ TNA only paying them bout $200 per apperance. Plus the reason why TNA is have finacally problems is due to them taping all them 1 Night Only’s in March during their last month in the Impact! Zone in Orlando and it costs them $600,000 to tape each eppy of TNA Impact!. TNA will not die as next year they’ll be in good order just watch plus I think they might let Sting go to the WWE if he wants as it would be something Sting vs Triple H or Taker at Mania.

  • drunkendramaqueen

She was surprisingly inoffensive as an on screen personality, but far too needless a resource to keep around. Especially when the women’s wrestling climate in TNA has reached an all time low in terms of roster depth.

SoCal Val still has a job, though.

    • Javiruchis Ghalichi

      ..what does SoCal Val do????

  • nismos69

A luxury…. Gail Kim is Luxury. Mickie James is Luxury. Velvet Sky is. Never mind

    • xFoxylicious

LOL @ “Velvet Sky is. Never mind”

      • nismos69

        Aahahha :):)

  • xFoxylicious

I liked her, but…yeah, won’t hurt the division.

  • HeidiMontagWWE

    Lol…

  • http://myworld.ebay.com/ferociouscougar 09DHK

Again, wrong Hogan to fire; especially if they’re trying to free-up some money.

  • StankyPants

Brooke brought nothing! She needed to go, and her father can follow right along
