All week leading up to the big night, we’re revisiting the most memorable women’s wrestling moments in WrestleMania’s 31 year history, tackling a total of 25 WrestleManias.
March 17th, 2002
The eighteenth WrestleMania saw the first and only time Lita and Trish Stratus met at the biggest show of the year when both competed for Jazz‘s Women’s Championship. Jazz took advantage of the animosity between Lita and Trish to hang on to the belt, disposing of Trish and hitting Lita with a fisherman’s suplex off the second rope for the three count.
The night’s main event was as much about the feud between estranged spouses Stephanie McMahon and Triple H as it was Chris Jericho‘s WWE Undisputed Title. Stephanie and Triple H, in the middle of their divorce proceedings, had taken their frustrations out on one another in the lead up to the match. Triple H would get the last laugh, though, winning the Undisputed Title after hitting both Stephanie and Jericho with Pedigrees.
