Women of Honor Tournament: 1st Round Results

The Women of Honor championship tournament has begun and from February 21st-February 23rd, Ring of Honor released four 1st round matches on their YouTube channel. Diva Dirt has gathered all these videos into one article for your viewing pleasure.

WOH Championship Tournament Round 1: Karen Q vs Brandi Rhodes

Karen Q makes her presence felt in this match with heelish tactics that really allow Brandi Rhodes to shine. In the end, it’s a sneaky tactic that gets the job done and helps a competitor move into the quarterfinal round.

WOH Championship Tournament Round 1: Madison Rayne vs Mandy Leon

This was the opening match of the tournament, and I felt like it missed its mark. Usually, tournament openers are fast-paced, exciting and engage with the audience. This match felt slow and unnatural until Mandy Leon elevated the match with a nice cannonball from the apron.

WOH Championship Tournament Round 1: Deonna Purrazzo vs Holidead

Holidead is an intriguing character that plays mind games with Deonna during most of her 1st round match. Out of the four matches, this is by far the most fluid and technically sound, which fans of that style will enjoy. The finish of this match is graceful and leaves you wanting a rematch in the near future.

WOH Championship Tournament Round 1: Kelly Klein vs Bonesaw Brooks

By far the best match out of the four. I did enjoy the fact that each wrestler was re-introduced before the match to help me familiarize with some of the wrestlers. Kelly Klein states that she is the obvious favorite in this tournament and exudes confidence. This was a display of power vs power and lead to impressive exchanges of german suplexes. Several times my reaction to a spot was simply the word……….”damn”.

What did you think of the first four WOH Championship Tournament matches?  Which match was your favorite? Who do you think will advance to the finals?
