On this day in history:

April 20th, 2016 | Two years ago today, the Ninth Wonder of the World known as Joanie “Chyna” Laurer was found dead in her apartment in Redondo Beach, CA. An autopsy report would later reveal that she died of an overdose of alcohol, anxiety and painkiller drugs. During her time with WWE, Chyna played a key role as one of the original members of D-Generation X when she debuted in 1997. She would go on to be the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble in 1999, become the first (and only) woman to win the Intercontinental Championship and would capture the Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 17 before departing from the company in 2001.

What are your memories of this moment?

  1. Can’t believe it’s already been two years. I hope WWE eventually lets her into the HOF for all her achievements, she was always entertaining. They’ve already started mentioning her more so that’s a positive sign ??

  2. i was at a funeral wake on the same day she passed away. was crushed to hear the news and hoped it wasn’t true. she will forever be remembered as a trailblazer for women in wrestling.

the attitude era without chyna would have sucked. she added so much and helped HHH get over as a heel despite not being the most gifted wrestler or talented on the mic. i loved her solo entrance music and also the ‘our time’ music she shared when she was coupled with HHH without DX.

I believe if she was still with us, Chyna would have nothing but encouraging words for the womens division including shayna and ronda joining wwe.
