NXT UK Women’s Championship tournament finals announced

During tonight’s dual episode of WWE NXT UK, the final match of the title tournament was set in stone for the women’s championship.

The final outcome of the tournament has already been decided, as the matches of the tournament were filmed back in August, after Triple H announced it was taking longer than expected to get NXT UK televised.

To close the gap between taping and airing, two hour-long episodes of NXT UK has been televised each week, Wednesday.

This week, during episode 9 and 10, the quarterfinals and semifinals of the NXT UK Women’s Championship tournament took place.

For episode 9, fans saw the last two quarterfinal matches: Rhea Ripley vs. Xia Brookside and Toni Storm vs. Isla Dawn.

During the first tournament match of the episode, the “Mosh Pit Kid” shifted her scary focus from Tegan Nox long enough to defeat the 20-year-old former IPW:UK Women’s Champion, and daughter of NXT trainer Robbie Brookside. Ripley stunned her with the Riptide.

Toni Storm and the “Modern Day Witch”, Isla Dawn, took part in the next and final scheduled quarterfinals match. The Mae Young Classic winner put her own spell on the Scottish Sensation, and defeated Isla Dawn with her captivating finisher, Storm Zero.

Episode 10 featured the semifinals, Ripley vs. Dakota Kai and Storm vs. Jinny.

The newly nicknamed “Kingslayer”, Kai, faced Ripley in a match that had rival undertones: New Zealand vs. Australia. In the end, the 22-year-old Aussie was too much for Kai, and Ripley advanced to the finals.

In the final match of the NXT UK Women’s Title tournament, Storm faced long-time rival Jinny. The Fashionista was the first female graduate of Progress’ Projo, so she was no picnic for the fan favorite, but Storm defeated Jinny is her best style, advancing to the finals.

The finals of the Women’s Championship Tournament is set in stone: Toni Storm vs. Rhea Ripley. The meeting during the belt showcase got a tad aggressive.

The finals of the tournament featuring the two Aussies is set to air during the first NXT UK episode of the Dec. 5 lineup.
