NXT Superstar Tegan Nox gives fans an injury update

The road to recovery is a long and painful one, and nobody knows that better than NXT superstar Tegan Nox. The Welsh wonder is recovering from a second severe knee ligament injury in as many years.

The Attack Pro Wrestling, Shimmer, WCPW and Progress Wrestling alumna was signed to NXT in early 2017. Nox was all set to debut at the inaugural Mae Young Classic, but unfortunately tore the ACL in her right knee right before the tournament began.

Returning to the ring in April 2018, Nox teamed with Dakota Kai on NXT house shows in preparation for her grand return and in June 2018, at the second MYC she was heavily touted to go all the way and win the tournament, in what would have surely been a come-back tale for the ages.

Alas, it was not to be. In her match with Rhea Ripley in the quarter finals, she attempted a suicide dive, and possibly trying to lessen the impact on her right knee that underwent rehab, injured her left knee on landing.

It was a tough watch, as it was instantly clear that she was in legitimate trouble, but bravery kicked in, and she soldiered on. Pain etched on her face soon turned to anguish, as the realisation set in that her knee had suffered some serious damage. Crumbling to the mat, unable to continue, visibly and audibly crying, finally leaving the live crowd in shocked silence.

After analysis, yet another surgery and months of rehabilitation ensued. On Twitter, there are daily updates of her rehab, Netflix viewing schedule, homesick reports and how much she misses wrestling.

Then, on Dec. 7, she posted a lengthy message updating us all on her rehabilitation progress and hopeful return date. Knox detailed that she had to undergo minor surgery recently to “clean out some of the gunk” which had caused pain when bending her knee, also causing her to make noises that sounded like an “exorcism”. She then went on to praise the “amazing medical staff at the PC” who have “become a family away from family”.

Knox stated further that the rehab process was “80 percent a mental game and 20 percent physical”, giving us mortals an insight to the pain, strife and agony one going through post-surgery rehab must endure.

Knox ends the status with an indefinite return date to the ring, but assures readers that “in a nutshell, she is getting there”.
