Beth Phoenix will receive another historic Hall of Fame induction

The George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, a part of the Dan Gable Museum, will induct WWE Hall Of Famer, Beth Phoenix, next July. Gable made the announcement via the museum’s Twitter page earlier today. The Glamazon will be the first woman to receive this honor.

The four-time women’s champion will join greats like: Owen Hart, Booker T, Bruiser Brody, Ben Askren and Koji Miyamoto; who were all inducted this summer. Beth took to Twitter earlier today to express her gratitude and admiration for the current state of women’s wrestling.

This is yet another milestone in Pheonix’s storied career. Back in January, she became the first, and the only woman, to compete in both the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble match. It was her only in-ring appearance since retiring in 2012.

She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame five years after her retirement, becoming the youngest inductee. She’s also the fastest woman to receive such an honor.

The Tragos/Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame was established in 1999. This arm of the Dan Gable Museum honors wrestlers with an amateur background who went on to have an impact on professional wrestling. Beth was a member of the Notre Dame High School wrestling team, where she was the first woman to make the varsity team in the school’s history.

She went on to win the North-East Wrestling freestyle women’s championship, and the New York State Fair Championship in 1999. That same year, she was also a member of USA Wrestling. Which is the official representative to the United States Olympic Committee and governing body of freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling.

The 2019 George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame inductions will take place on July 25-27, 2019, in Waterloo, Iowa. All-access passes are available for through to the end of the year.
