Sasha Banks vs. Ronda Rousey announced for Royal Rumble

During tonight’s episode of Raw, fans got another peek at the Royal Rumble card. Sasha Banks vs. Ronda Rousey has been set for a championship match at Royal Rumble, after Banks defeated Nia Jax in a no. 1 contender’s match.

The events leading up to the match can be traced back to the debut episode of Alexa Bliss‘ talk show, A Moment Of Bliss. Bliss called out her first guest, Ronda Rousey, and showed a video package highlighting some of the best moments in Rousey’s career.

After, Bliss asked Rousey what her goals were for the upcoming year. Rousey stated she has fought some of the best women WWE has to offer, but has yet to fight the one woman she considers the best WWE has: Sasha Banks.

On cue, Nia Jax entered stage left, and cut a promo insulting Rousey and Bliss, and demanded another chance at the title. Banks follows Jax on stage, and the two swapped savage barbs at each other.

Immediately following the argument, was the no. 1 contenders match between Jax and Banks for the chance to face Rousey at the Royal Rumble for the Raw Women’s Championship. Though the fight was physical, and often brutal at moments, Banks snagged the win with a Bank Statement.

Many fans are excited that Banks is getting a major title match, after she’s spent most of 2018 riding on the mid-card.

It’s also important to note that the upcoming bout was the not the first time WWE considered Banks vs. Rousey.

Be sure to tune into WWE Royal Rumble on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. EST, live from Phoenix.

Do you think the right woman won? Will Sasha have a chance against Rousey at the Royal Rumble?
