All Elite Wrestling (AEW) announced just one new female signee at their Jacksonville rally, namely Penelope Ford. At time of writing, that leaves the women of AEW outnumbered five-to-one by the men’s division. Something needs to change if AEW is to live up to its promise as a major new force in wrestling.
The company enters a competitive market for women’s wrestling, and it’s no surprise that several wrestlers targeted by the company were scooped up by WWE. That reportedly includes Viper (known in WWE as Piper Niven), as well as Kay Lee Ray and Jazzy Gabert, who appeared at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool, effectively confirming their signings. AEW can’t compete in a crowded industry without a standout women’s division.
Here are five women they need to sign to make that happen.
