9. Alundra Blayze vs. Leilani Kai – WrestleMania X
Ten years earlier, Leilani Kai defended the championship against Wendi Richter, accompanied by Cyndi Lauper, at the first WrestleMania. In 1994, she challenged the new face of the division and holder of the reinstated WWF Women’s Championship, Alundra Blayze.
In her first and only appearance at The Show of Shows, Blayze dominated the challenger. Kai tried to use her strength and dirty tactics to get the upper hand, but the champion’s athleticism was just too much.
Lasting a little over three minutes, this was far from a lengthy five-star classic, but it wasn’t merely a squash match either.
It served as a decisive passing the torch moment for Alundra, who would go on to have much better matches in the months ahead. Even though the match was just a peek at how good she was, it did help to put her on the map and reinvigorate the women’s division.
