This tag team match was a hint of the progress the women’s division made, coming out of a creative drought during the Divas Era. At the time, AJ Lee and Paige looked firmly positioned to become the future of women’s wrestling, following their feud in the year prior.
The Bellas used their chemistry as a team to take advantage of the two singles competitors. They quickly took Lee out and keep her off the apron. Once they isolated Paige, they used their fast-paced tandem offense to control the first half of the match.
Eventually, AJ made it into the ring as the hot tag and changed the momentum. While Paige kept Brie from interfering, she locked in the Black Widow to secure the win in what would be her last WrestleMania appearance.
As a matter of fact, all four women are retired now. Which is surreal, especially considering that was Paige’s first match at the event. Still, this was the best women’s match on at WrestleMania in close to a decade.
