Sam Roberts bashes Dana Brooke, Dana responds

On this week’s episode of WWE Main Event, Sam Roberts made his commentary debut alongside Bryon Saxton and Renee Young. Roberts made some harsh comments about Dana Brooke during Brooke’s match against Tamina.

Here are some of the highlights of Roberts heelish comments.

“I wouldn’t be in a wonderful mood if I found out I was returning to singles action and it was in a match against Dana Brooke of all people.”

“No big shocker here that the somersaults that Dana Brooke is doing aren’t exactly paying off. I’m sure she’s great on a balance beam.”

Today, Brooke responded to Roberts on her Twitter account.

“Sam – always thought we were cool, but [expletive] wondering why @WWE doesn’t have u on a lot, you bury people!! What have u accomplished.. prob gave up at it, unlike me, I push through never giving up! Maybe @ReneeYoungWWE Will be right when I block you & 1 day make U eat your words! “

Roberts has made off-key remarks about a female wrestler before. Back in January, during the NXT Takeover: Phoenix pre-show, Roberts buried Bianca Belair. Roberts basically said she was unworthy of her place on the card. The comments caused a huge uproar online and these new comments about Brooke are making Roberts even more unpopular among fans.

It’s unclear if Robert’s comments are scripted and intended to build him as a heel commentary, or if Sam is just speaking without a filter. Notably, he said on his podcast, that WWE doesn’t give him a script after the Belair debacle and the company allows him to speak his mind.

Regardless, Dana Brooke is once again on the short end of the stick. She is one of the least respected women on the WWE roster, and she doesn’t get the opportunity to shine. Hopefully, Brooke will get a real storyline opportunity and prove the naysayers wrong.
