Dakota Kai has been missing in action since December due to injury. During an NXT house show, Kai went down in the corner of the ring. The referee calling the match threw up the “X” in order to have staff come and get her and take her to the back. She waited until after the holidays to announce that she had torn her ACL and would require surgery.
She took to social media just before surgery to let her fans know her status.
I’m about to head into surgery, so let me give you an update ? ?? pic.twitter.com/GSwhIhRjBV— captain kota (@DakotaKai_WWE) January 17, 2019
Since then she teased about her comeback in March with a post on her Twitter account by saying, “That feeling when I have an approximate return date/goal #TheComeback.” She did not provide that date just yet.
Dakota Kai has provided another update on her recovery today in a video. Unfortunately, she still doesn’t give a return date, however, she explains how excited she is to get back to training soon and stepping back into the ring. She further adds that she has been ahead of schedule in regards to her recovery since her surgery.
This New Zealand native was a shining star in the first Mae Young Classic tournament making it to the quarterfinal round and ultimately losing to the eventual winner, Kairi Sane. Since then she has done remarkable work on the NXT brand. Her fans are anticipating her return.
