Sasha Banks addresses the rumors of her hiatus on WWE Chronicle

Sasha Banks was the recent focus on WWE Chronicle, a documentary series of a superstar on their journey through personal interviews and private moments. Banks opens up during an emotional episode where she discusses her hiatus from WWE for the past four months. She speaks on finding herself and making herself, Mercedes, happy again.

Sometimes you just need to take a step back and take care of yourself, and that is precisely what she did. She discusses how bad things kept happening and she didn’t know how to handle them. For example, she tearfully recalls the moment where she was involved in the match that ended up being Paige‘s last.

“So many bad things just kept happening and I didn’t know how to deal with them. I think what really started it all, feeling sad, was the whole Paige situation. That really sucked. And having fans destroy me and destroying my work, I pride myself in my work so much, that I would never intentionally try to hurt somebody. That sucked and made me question myself as a wrestler.”

She would later address the rumors that were swirling of why she took her time off away from the ring and stepped away from WWE. These rumors included her crying on the locker room and then the hotel floor after her loss at WrestleMania.

“At first it really bothered me. It really bothered me because it was the same feeling how I felt when that Paige stuff happened. Just, man, you guys don’t know the full story. You don’t know the full thing. And then, just how the hell do they make this stuff up too? I saw so much stuff like ‘crying on the floor of the locker room.’ No. I got undressed, put my clothes on and walked out and stand with the fans with Pam watching the main event because I was so happy for those girls.”

She continues, “Then, there’s rumors that I was crying on the hotel floor. Please show me those pictures, please show me the footage. You can’t let those things destroy you because I really learned with therapy.,You can’t take anything personal because they don’t know me.

They don’t know Mercedes and they don’t know Mercedes who plays Sasha Banks. They don’t know what we go through day to day at TV, live events or what we do at home. You can let them think whatever they want because they’re not going to change and I don’t have to change for them. I just have to change what makes me feel good for myself. And that’s the best part, talk about me, good, bad, it doesn’t matter. Talk about me.”

This episode is taped from her return n the RAW after SummerSlam on Aug. 12 to last week’s tag team match from Madison Square Garden on RAW. To watch the full emotional return of Banks and how she got her smile back, you can watch this on the WWE Network.

Sasha is set to take on Becky Lynch tonight at Clash of Champions for the RAW Women’s Championship.
