There are rumors floating around pertaining to Kairi Sane‘s future with WWE. Could she be leaving the company early next year?
Emphasis must be placed on the word could as the rumors are purely based on Dave Meltzer’s opinion and not actual fact. It is always going to be an option for someone to leave around the time their contract is up, this is normal.
Dave Melter mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that Sane’s current contract is due to expire in 2020, which could potentially lead to her leaving WWE. Meltzer said;
“Kairi Sane, I could definitely see her leaving. I don’t know that she’s gonna leave, but she’s definitely expressed interest in exploring other options.”
The rumors come after a spate of WWE superstars requesting their releases but what adds further weight to the Sane rumor is the recent report that Bushiroad Director, Takaaki Kidani, stated that he would welcome back Kairi Sane to the company once her WWE contract expires. He also mentioned wanting Io Shirai as well. Shirai has more time on her current contract as opposed to Sane.
For context Bushiroad, who owns NJPW, recently purchased Stardom, a company that Sane was a major star for before she signed with WWE.
Sane has found recent success as one-half of the current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Asuka along with a successful heel turn in her character. Prior to this, she was the inaugural winner of the first Mae Young Classic Tournament and also is a former NXT Women’s Champion.
