Winners & Losers: NXT 02/12/20

This week’s NXT was the go-home episode before NXT TakeOver: Portland. The first TakeOver of 2020, features two exciting and highly-anticipated matchups. The first being a street fight between bitter enemies Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox. The second is the title match between two of the most popular and on-fire wrestlers in the business right now, Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair.

We had live coverage of the show last night which you can read all about here.

Winner: Bianca Belair

What can I say? Belair is just on another level at the moment and the best thing about it is, she knows it and is revelling in it. She destroyed Garrett easily and then gave Ripley something to think about heading into NXT TakeOver: Portland. Belair is so good that win or lose on Sunday she loses nothing and could continue to own NXT or head to RAW or SmackDown and shine instantly.

Loser: Santana Garrett

Is it just me or did you expect a hell of a lot more from Santana Garrett when she signed with NXT? I recall there being some fanfare and buzz about her on the indie scene and along with her look and style, it was only a matter of time before NXT signed her. However, despite being an 11-year veteran something doesn’t seem to have gelled on the black and yellow brand, which a shame as she is way more talented to be getting done over like this. Hopefully, her star will start to shine soon.

Final Thoughts

This was an ok go-home show as we got two decent interactions between those involved at NXT TakeOver: Portland. However, there was nothing really to add any further excitement to the scheduled matches.

I can’t help but feel that Ripley and Charlotte‘s interactions have taken some of the anticipation out of the title match but I am very looking forward to Belair vs Ripley as they tore it up in their last outing some months back.

The Nox vs Kai match is also in a similar situation as we saw it take place a few weeks ago on NXT TV. However, the Street Fight setting will give the two performers something exciting and innovative for us to enjoy.

I’ll be doing NXT TakOver: Portland preview and review videos for our YouTube channel so keep an eye out for those.
