Kay Lee Ray retains NXT UK Women’s Championship in an “I Quit” match

Tonight’s episode of NXT UK was all about Kay Lee Ray vs Toni Storm in an “I Quit” match for the NXT UK Women’s Championship.

Lee Ray and Storm have been at each other’s throats since KLR defeated Storm for the title way back in August last year. Things came to a head when KLR challenged Storm to an “I Quit” match to attempt to rid herself of her longtime adversary.

The match kicked off instantly with Storm attacking KLR throwing her outside of the ring and into the barriers and steps. KLR hit back with a nice superkick but Storm countered with a big German suplex and into a vicious submission.

KLR would persevere and spike Storm with a DDT and tie her up in the ropes in an attempt to make Storm quit. Storm would free herself and once again toss KLR to the outside and retrieve a table from underneath the ring and launch herself from the top turnbuckle through KLR and the table.

KLR would struggle free from an attempt at Storm Zero on the ring curtain and counter with a draping DDT to the outside. Things would go from bad to worse for Storm when KLR would tape her hands behind her back and proceed to destroy Storm’s neck with vicious and brutal, chair-assisted offence. Storm would scream “I Quit” when KLR threatened to “Pillman” her neck from the top rope.

This was a brutal match that showed just how far KLR will go to protect her championship and left the valiant and tenacious Toni Storm unable to challenge for the title while KLR holds it. This leaves Storm in a precarious position in NXT UK as she is far too good not to be in the title picture, could we see her jump over the Atlantic to NXT for the qualifying matches for the ladder match at NXT TakeOver: Tampa?

Piper Niven came to the aid of Storm toward the end of the match so there is a possibility that a Niven and KLR feud will be next. Niven and KLR have a storied history also and tore each other apart during their time in ICW. If they can recapture any of that magic then we are in for a treat.

What did you make of the match and what next for Toni Storm? Let us know below and as always stay tuned to Diva Dirt for all of your NXT UK news, reviews and updates.
