Io Shirai and Candice LeRae qualify for the number one contender Ladder Match

Io Shirai made her surprising return tonight and inserted herself into a qualifying match intended for Xia Li. Li was set to face Aliyah in a one-on-one match to determine the fourth out of six competitors for the future number one contender Ladder Match. Aliyah already out in the ring, Li wasn’t making her entrance. She was taken out backstage by an unknown attacker.

Shirai took Li’s place and beat Aliyah in quick fashion with a moonsault. She has been out of action due to injury for the past couple of months. Her return is most welcomed as many people hoped she would be in this ladder match.

The next match was Candice LeRae vs. Kayden Carter for that fifth spot. Carter would have been a nice addition to the ladder match and would be a nice push for her. Unfortunately for her, this will not be her moment as she took another loss. LeRae caught Carter in the Gargano Escape which would cause a tap out and submission victory.

This still leaves one more spot for the highly anticipated Ladder Match. This qualifying match will take place next week as the Ladder Match itself will take place in two weeks. It has been announced that the ones who have lost their qualifying matches (and Xia Lia, who didn’t compete) will get a second chance in a guantlet match next week.

Shirai and LeRae join Chelsea Green, Mia Yim, and Tegan Nox – who do you think will round out this match as the sixth competitor? Leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
