Tessa Blanchard released from IMPACT; World Title Vacated

It is being reported by PWInsider that IMPACT Wrestling has notified them that Tessa Blanchard has been released from the company. The statement reads as follows:

“Impact Wrestling confirmed that it has terminated its relationship with Tessa Blanchard and stripped her of the Impact World Championship.”

Blanchard has not competed for IMPACT since the COVID health pandemic started. She has been reportedly in Mexico with her fiance and fellow IMPACT talent Daga.

Originally she was supposed to defend the IMPACT World Championship at Rebellion in April. She released a statement at that time apologizing to fans that she could not attend. That match was supposed to be a Three-way to include Michael Elgin and Eddie Edwards.

IMPACT announced that Blanchard would be at their next pay-per-view Slammiversary on July 18. This time she was scheduled in a Five-way match which had implications already. This is due to Elgin receiving a suspension from sexual abuse allegations during the #SpeakingOut movement.

Blanchard’s relationship with IMPACT has been troublesome recently. She was supposed to send footage of promos at the beginning of June. This did not occur which caused quick edit changes to the program. Sources say that the idea was for her to return and lose her title but the two were not able to come to amicable terms.

It is being said that her contract with the company was to expire at the time of the pay-per-view. IMPACT wanted to have her make her final appearance with the company, but when they couldn’t come to an agreement the company chose to part ways.

Blanchard won the title from Sami Callihan in January at Hard to Kill. She made history as the first woman to ever hold the top male title with the organization.

Slammiversary will take place on July 18 and will feature the Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace defending her title against Deonna Purrazzo.
