Winners & Losers: IMPACT 07.14.20

With Slammiversary taking place this Saturday, all eyes are on the Knockouts division as the Knockouts Title is heavily being gunned for. The last show before the event was no exception as we saw a contract signing between champion Jordynne Grace and Deonna Purrazzo and a 10- Woman Knockouts Tag Team match.

This match was in preparation for their upcoming Gauntlet match at the pay-per-view. The winner will become the number one contender to either Grace or Purrazzo.

The tag team match kicked off the show. It pitted Havok, Navaeh, Alisha Edwards, Kylie Rae, and Susie against the team of Taya Valkyrie, Kiera Hogan, Rosemary, Tasha Steelz, and Kimber Lee.

Highlights of the match included a triple attack on the heel team as they are grouped outside the ring. Susie takes them down first with a somersault off the ring apron. They get knocked down again along with Susie and Naveah as Havok launches her own teammate Alisha on top of them from over the top rope. Rae gets a tag from Havok who was the legal woman before Havok hits a suicide dive onto the group as the third and final attack.

The match breaks down with each woman being highlighted and hitting a move. It starts when Steelz breaks up a near fall from Susie on Lee. Steelz takes out Susie with a cutter who then rolls out of the ring. Enter Nevaeh who launches Steelz with a German Suplex. Hogan lays out Nevaeh with a roundhouse kick.

Havok catches Hogan and places her on the mat. Rosemary and Valkryie show their teamwork as they hit a double spear on Havok. Alisha then hits a cross body on Rosemary and Valkryie and follows it up with a double DDT. Lee roundhouse kick on Alisha. Rae superkicks Lee and it sets it up for her tag team partner Susie to take advantage

Susie hits a Panic Switch and gets the three count and the win for her team. After the match, a huge brawl ensues. Rae makes it out of the brawl as she tends to Susie.

As mentioned earlier, there was also a contract signing for the Slammiversary Knckouts Title match between Jordynne Grace and Deonna Purrazzo.

Purrazzo has been a thorn in the side of the champion since she made her debut recently and beelined straight to the front of the line. Since then her vicious armbar has been catching Grace off guard but come Saturday there will be no jump from behind or catching the champion when she isn’t ready.

As Purrazzo signs the contract and prior to Grace taking her pen to paper, the challenger wants her to know what she is getting herself into. She wants Grace to realize when she steps foot into the ring with The Virtuosa that she is stepping into the ring with class and sophistication.

As Grace signs the contract Purrazzo may think she is class, she may think she is sophisticated, but she doesn’t know what she is getting her self into….right now. Grace slams Purrazzo face-first on the table. Purrazzo exits as the segment ends and Grace leaves the opposite way with her belt.

Let’s get into the Winners & Losers of the week:

WINNER: Susie

Susie picked up a big win for her team with an assist from her tag team partner Kylie. They mentioned during the match some shades of Su Yung appearing so maybe we will get that version during the Gauntlet match? It is good momentum for her to pick up this pin heading into the pay-per-view but it still could be anyone’s match to win.

If I had to guess it may not be anyone who is a part of a tag team, but that leaves only Kimber, Alisha, and Madison. On the other hand, I could see Susie also being a contender, especially if Su shows up.

WINNER: Jordynne Grace

The contract signing wasn’t much. I expected a lot more honestly. However, Jordynne did get the last laugh, so that was a positive outlook for the champion. The title match is also up in the air for me. I can see them giving it to Deonna since she is being pushed so heavily so quickly.

LOSER: Deonna Purrazzo

Again, the contract signing wasn’t anything special. Seeing as though Purrazzo has been made to look so strong against Grace in the past several weeks, especially with her armbar, I was expecting Purrazzo to come out looking better. Instead, she just had her head slammed into the table and ran away.

What did you think of this week’s IMPACT? Who were your Winners & Losers?

Check back in with Diva Dirt on Saturday, July 18 for results from Slammiversary. Do you think we will have a new champion? Who do you think will become the number one contender? Let us know below.
